Well said, Chris!
I truly believe our Scified community of Godzilla lovers can, and should, band together to spread the word about this movie. We could be the fans that help make G-Fan history!
So all of you out there, please share these amazing photos and the plot synopsis on social media, on blogs, anywhere that you can! And remember to add that this film is BY NO MEANS a done deal, or a sure thing. They need ONE MORE Kickstarter campaign to turn this film into a feature length, tokusatsu-filled reality. If the next campaign fails, they have already said that they will not try again, so the next try is the last one.
If we spread the word, we can make the next campaign successful, and who knows... maybe we will get TWO Godzilla films this year! (Remember, the Anime feature film drops in 2017 as well!)
I need a Blu-Ray of this asap.
I completely forgot about this fan-film. It is good to hear some news about it. I hope it turns out well.
That makes me incredibly happy for Anno~San & hopefully gives him that much more motivation to finally get the ball rolling on Evangelion Rebuild 4.0 ^_^
This was awesome! Keep the story goin!
I recall that post Danzilla! Thanks for the added insight, I was not aware of the unfortunate falling out on Kickstarter. Hopefully we can help them gain the traction and donations they need to make this film a reality!
A little background…
Godzilla: Heritage has been in the works for years, with the most recent Kickstarter campaign having failed back in 2015. The crew have, in fact, run three campaigns, only the second of which was successful. The only reason these images, and the short film they are a part of exist, is because of a single, generous backer who made money available to the crew after the campaign failed and all pledges, in accordance with Kickstarter policy, were never collected. That money has enabled the crew, including a full cast of actors and behind the scenes talent (including a few contestants from shows like Face Off and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge) to continue work.
The failure of the Kickstarter campaign meant that the project, originally a feature length film, had to be cut down to a 20 minute short “proof of concept” reel, and the suitmation effects scrapped for cheaper CGI.
But fear not. The crew is preparing the short, from which the above work in progress images originate, as a teaser to be included with their fourth and FINAL Kickstarter campaign, to be launched sometime this year. Once it goes live, I urge ALL OF YOU to PLEASE consider donating a little money, even if its only a few bucks! Your support will turn Godzilla Heritage from a 20 minute short into a feature length film, complete with tokusatsu (practical) effects!
And by the way, TWO teaser trailers do currently exist for the film! Watch them, along with the extended sneak peak, here!
Teaser 2 (sorry for the bad quality)
And here is a link to an article I wrote here on Scified back in the day to promote the film! I was very excited when the article resulted in a not insignificant spike in donations, and the creators personally thanked me (by name!) and the Scified community for spreading the word. I felt very honored, and I know that this time, we can work together to get the final campaign successfully funded!
We also know that it will film in both China and Atlanta. Also, when you look at IMDB, they have hired several concept artists as well as a sculptor and a pre-vis designer.
This look pretty cool. I like the Godzilla profile pic above.. a whole lot. And the other Kaiju pictured.. very nice.
All we know is that it will be released March 22nd, 2019. Michael Doughtery and Zach Shields is writing a new script for it--We don't know if any of it is based on Max Borenstein's story treatment. Currently the movie has no director. Rumors have it that Doughtery wants to direct the film, but Legendary is waiting to see how his script looks.
At the 2014 Comic Con producer Thomas Tull said they had procured the rights for Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah, all of which are expected in the sequel.
Junkie XL had originally claimed he would be composing music for the sequel, but that was before Gareth Edwards left the project and the movie was moved to 2019. So he's likely not.
The movie was recently and officially titled Godzilla: King of Monsters by Legendary Pictures.
That just about sums it all up...
I'm not a fan of these toys. They aren't like the figures from G14. They look like children's toys. There is barely any scale and the articulation looks like crap. I'll have to see if S.H. MonsterArts makes some Kong figures. Based on the trailers, the skull crawlers look a lot bigger than they do on these toys. Based if the average human is 1.8 metes tall and the 2 legged skull crawler is almost the same height of the human, the skull crawler is about 2 meters tall. Samuel L Jackson is 6 foot 2 inches and the skull crawler figure is the same height as him so that means that the skull crawlers are small. I love the Skull Crawler designs but their toys do not do them justice. I wish Bandai had the license to their toys. I hope Bandai does the Godzilla vs Kong figures in 2020.
Well this is probably the end of the line for my favorite suit but still voting for Biogoji
For the sake of it, he's made it this far. Shodaigoji has my vote, he needs to get to the finale.
Even though the first film (1954) is a total masterpiece and its design is revolutionary---- I have to go with:
BIOGOJI (1989)
Bump! Hoping for responses! :D
I'm really digging these monster designs. Rather than just updated prehistoric creatures, Legendary is giving us some truly bizarre and otherworldy animals that fit perfectly in a universe where creatures like Godzilla and the M.U.T.O.s also exist. The Spider's head not only resembles a skull, but its legs look like human finger bones. Then there's the Pterodactylus, a pterosaur with the head of Cthulhu. The Skullcrawler (or "Dino Monster") toy is interesting, because the trailers made it look like those creatures' legs are their forelimbs, while the figure makes them resemble hind limbs. Perhaps the Skullcrawlers vary somewhat in appearance.
Either way, I'm getting more and more excited for this movie, and I'm expecting the new fauna of Skull Island to be very unique and refreshing.
This is pretty cool.
Well. Looks like this one is need of being bumped. Going to give it another day.
I really hope they'll be a S.H. Monsterarts figure of Kong.
Thanks for all the responses so far - we will probably close the thread in a few weeks so I can tally everything - keep the results coming! :)
When did Lionsgate's Godzilla vs. Biollante go out-of-print?
EDIT:
Looks like you're right though. A damn shame. Not altogether unexpected however.
What gets me is, how interchangeable these movies are in my list. Granted, the top 10 are a no-brainer for myself and the bottom 5 are right. The top 10 are basically my "go to" films and that's not even including other great Kaiju films like Gamera 3 1999, Gamera guardian of the universe 1995, or even Ultraman the next 2004. If I were to include those films, my top 10 would be a completely different story.
Fairly close. There might be a couple that could flip/flop. I never saw Shin Godzilla, although I feel fairly confident that I'd like it more than many on this list, which is why it ended up where it did.

I question most of these because some are a little bit worse than others but my top 5 are correct and the bottom 5 are correct.
Age: 26
Sorry. Top 10 are correct. My bad.
^In your opinion maybe, while I don't love the 98 movie and think it has a lot of problems, I could levy the same sentiment toward all the ones I put below it.
Well Gman it's still pretty hard to choose my preferences
^1998 should be the lowest
Yeah I would say the top and bottom of my list are pretty correct, and the middle being out of wack is probably my fault for doing some votes without thinking, or misclicking.
Fun little thing though, some rankings on the top half were really close so on a different day my list may look a lot different.
Darth Tyrant,
Read his full original post. That's why you use the link he gave to simplify the process.
