I wonder if they'll also make Rodan "Poster Version" figure.
The Godzilla is supposed to be the "poster version" Godzilla for Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II--Just like the MechaGodzilla. That's why the skin color looks like... well... this:

I still prefer "chubby" Godzilla because he looks like he's got some real muscle, and it fits his "lumbering" image that the character represents. The "squarish-ness" kinda fits, really.
However, a more reptilian design isn't a bad idea.
^I know right? And I love the Godzilla. I would rather have one with more accurate skin color, the charcoal grey/black we all know and love, but it's a start. I'd say there is a 50/50 chance there will be an Atomic Breath effect part. I might be wrong, but I can still hope it comes with an effect part.
Love the artwork but the Legendary Godzilla is the *most* reptilian design I'm willing to accept. Nice work though! Always enjoy fan takes/redesigns on creatures and monsters!! :)
I really wanna get that Mecha Godzilla.
I would say Zilla is probably the least likely monster to appear in the monsterverse
As said above, legendary would want to distance themselves as far as possible from the 98 movie/Zilla.
personally, if they were to do a flashback scene to when the kaiju were more common, a quick cameo of a Zilla or pack of Zilla would be pretty cool. Or if they did a monster island type scenario with a Zilla cameo.
Looks pretty cool. It kinda resembles an irradiated iguana...
ugh leave him where he is.
Yeah, I didn't think it was likely. I was only asking because when I was looking at a fanon MonsterVerse timeline, I saw it included a full reboot of Zilla's movie and then one where he fought Godzilla.
I see there being a .001% chance Zilla will even be considered for the Monsterverse in any form whatsoever. Edwards and Legendary made a massive point to create something as far away from the 1998 movie as they could. I believe any consideration for putting the creature, or a creature that looks like the 1998 monster, in the universe would be an instant violation of everything Legendary has set out to do.
And to answer your question, the 1998 monster IS technically still Godzilla. Toho can not retcon what the design was supposed to represent in the past, but they can re-brand it for the future. The design from 1998-2003 is technically "Godzilla", but as of 2004 the monster is indefinitely "Zilla". The copyright now brands the design as "Zilla" both for Godzilla Final Wars and the IDW comic series. It will not be used to depict Godzilla in the future again unless Toho says otherwise.
Even though I think it could be kinda cool to see him return, I think Legendary would avoid brining him back, there's just to much hatred for the character.
Lose the neck thingy and it's not bad.
I like this. It almost looks like a fusion of Zilla and Heisei Godzilla.
It be cool if this were another species of Godzilla in the MonsterVerse. Like how Godzilla & Jr. were in the Heisei Era.
This is a really cool design
I really like this design.
Not bad KOTM, can't wait for the next chapter.
Loving this so far! Keep up the good work!

In no order just top 3s, and only Godzilla ones since I haven't watched any of the others in over a year.

On Michael Dougherty's (or however you spell it) Twitter, he said Welcome to Monarch but that may just be because its Godzilla but it could still be a hint of the role that she is playing in the film
^yup she looks the part, maybe a monarch agent too.
Sort of racking my brain on this one. Whatever it is, it won't be in order. That said I highly, highly agree with some of Godzilla: King of the Monsters' choices since he propped up my top 3 favorites in the entire series.
I do find this format of listing the movies much easier though. When people ask me to list the entire series I typically scoff. 30+ movies from different eras, by different filmmakers with different themes and styles? It gets hard to compare and in some ways the exercise devalues the merit of each individual movie.
I like this chopped up format better. It gives us more to consider about each film.
My reply to the original post's question still pending...
Godzilla Vs. Kong (2020) - Godzilla, Kong, any more monsters are unconfirmed.
Gamera (2022) - Gamera, Viras, Gyaos (cameo role)
Rodan (2023) - Rodan, Meganula (supporting role), Meganulon (supporting role), Megaguirus.
Mothra (2024) - Mothra, Kong (supporting role), Battra, Godzilla (cameo)
Kong: Monster Island (2025) - Kong, Kamacuras, Kumonga, Megaguirus, Gorosaurus, Mothra (Cameo appearance as an unhatched egg)
Godzilla 3 (2027) - Godzilla, New/Original MUTOS.
Destroy All Monsters (2028) - Godzilla, Kong, Mothra, Rodan, Gorosaurus, Gamera, Mechagodzilla (supporting role), Megalon (main villain)
Timeline continues, but I believe that's how it would go for the next 10 years.
I feel like the "Godzilla vs. Mothra" title is a popular moniker, ridiculed or not--So audiences may rightly be expecting a clash between the two. I think a quick skirmish isn't out of the question.
I'm smelling a government official.
Looking good
...it would look.. stupendous
He's millions of years old. But whether he's the last of his kind if unknown. Presumably he is, but maybe there could be more.
great casting so far
I hope she does well.
I think she might be another Monarch secret official or the mother to Oshea Jackson's character. I'd prefer the first though. If they add any more actors/actresses, it'll probably be two or three more at the most. Than when June comes around, we can finally start seeing set photos and come up with many of our own theories on what's what and what's happening.
