Yeah, that's another idea I had. Maybe even a few references to Kong: Skull Island, like passing newspaper strips of Conrad and Weaver refusing to comment on their trip with the Landsat team.
I kinda want to see like an aftermath of G14. I want to see and hear bits of news footage of Godzilla and the world trying to cope with what just happened in San Fransisco. I want an opening that shows the world trying to rationalize what Godzilla is, where he came from, and if there are more like him.
Concur with G '14 himself.
Now, I would agree with that, but one of the criticisms of the previous movie was that Godzilla's screen-time wasn't utilized that effectively. A short sequence where he's up and about and in action in the opening would solidify audience perception, and hype them up for more of that later on.
Since we've introducing 3 new big monsters I imagine the opening will center around revealing one. Don't really see them going back and recounting Godzilla's background when they have 3 totally different(hopefully) new monsters that need some time to get established.
I want Goji to kill more MUTOs in the beginning of the second movie, similar to Gamera 3, when Gamera kills more Gyaos.
Heavily agree with this, I think we should see Godzilla like the 2014 opening, have NASA footage for Ghidorah, cave paintings of Mothra, and Pterosaur fossils for Rodan
It is awsome. VHS DVD
Michael Dougherty was selected to direct this movie due to his extensive knowledge of wildlife and evolutionary traits for survival. Certainly comes in handy when creating monsters, wouldn't you think?
Keep in mind, Michael Dougherty is a fan of natural traits of animals, perhaps being a hint to a giant moth's abilities?
^ Im going back to search then, I guess with that "ugly" I can expect a huge and realistic moth
I am less interested in what it looks like and more interested in the creatures history and motivation.
Hey, guys. I'm new here but can I post screenshots of the post credits scenes of Kong: Skull Island?
Hey, I am new here but I know what you mean, TheTruthIsOutThere. Moths are plain freaky. Do you mean like this equivalent of freaky or nah?
He should be a threat necessitating Godzilla teaming up with Rodan and Mothra!
^
I know what controversial means, anyway back to Mothra, so her design is freaky? Okay, moths are kind of freaky anyway(Have you seen their face? They look freaky!).
^ I dont think you quite understand what I mean by the term "controversial"
This thing is plain freaky...
^ You'd have better luck tracking down a sketch of the Mothra model, and I'm sure you'll know when you find it, cause it is ugly with a capital UG
It's very controversial indeed
Gman-That makes sense, thanks for giving me that bit of knowledge.
EmptyH- Heavily agreed, it would be an awesome ability to have
Huge Ben-I wasn't trying to say that I didn't want a good cast and story, what I was saying is that I would like to have a lot of monster action and a lot of story developing. Both can be done well if the director is talented enough, which I personally think Mike is.
I want to see the other image but it seems like I have a bad luck, I cant find it
it should be a huge threat! king Ghidorah was Godzillas nemeses but i don't think he should fight him with Rodan + mothra, he first has to start off by fighting all 3 and when Ghidorah gets the upper hand on all of them that's when Rodan + Mothra join Godzilla to defeat Ghidorah. when it comes to survival they will join forces after Rodan + Mothra turn tail and run, they will come back to help Godzilla. they shouldn't start out as friends that would be too hokey, because he did fight all 3 of them at one point in time. he should start by fighting Rodan then Mothra and when Godzilla defeats them two Ghidorah shows up because the 3 of them fighting wakes Ghidorah up and after Rodan + Mothra run away from Godzilla Ghidorah comes out of nowhere + gets the upper hand on Godzilla. that's when Rodan + Mothra come back to help Godzilla because Ghidorah would kill them if he defeats Godzilla.
It looks like it was made in SFM.
@Im Durp
Well I don't watch monster movies for characters, I watch them for the monster actions and the monster itself.
^
Let me guess? an oversize moth(Even tho is what mothra is)?
Edit: If its an oversize moth then I could careless.
Another new chapter.
I just hope everyone is open minded about Mothra, because her design might be considered "controversial" to some folks...
@Im Durp,
To be even more honest, "If we get characters the likes of G14 again I'd rather just watch monsters fight" how much fighting was there in g14 again?
In any case, should we end up with characters like g14 which killed off two of the best actors early, then we can expect heavier criticism from the fanbase and endless b×××hing from everyone. I don't think this is a route Mike Dougherty will go. I could be entirely wrong, but with the cast he has, it would be a bigger waste not to use them.
I revealed back in April, I think? That Michael was bringing in practical effects
TBH if we get characters the likes of G14 again I'd rather just watch monsters fight
I have to agree with Gman. Honesty, without a cast and story, why waste money going to the theaters to watch giant monsters duke it out in screen for 30-45 minutes when you can actually play a Godzilla game for that purpose?
I like the idea of Ghidorah having a venomous bite. That could add some interesting story ideas.
Godzilla having 30 to 45 minutes would be way too much and would pretty much beat out the average amount by a whole lot. There would hardly be any room for story or character development if he were given that amount of time.
The longest Godzilla has ever been on screen was almost 27 minutes and that was in 1993. (Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II) The average franchise time Godzilla is on screen is around 14-15 minutes, which none of us have complained about before because it was used so liberally.
Now, the average franchise percentage that Godzilla is on screen in is 14%. So, for a moment, lets assume Godzilla: King of the Monsters will have the same average and is two hours long (roughly the same length as both Godzilla '14 and Kong: Skull Island), that would mean Godzilla would take up 17 minutes of screen time in the new movie--Which is above average for the series and seven minutes longer than what he got in 2014. Believe it or not, this would probably be fine given the fact this is the same average percentage much of the series has.
Even if he does get more screen time I think it's important to put in perspective. 30-45 minutes is Way. Too. Long. And a lesser amount would be more than adequate.
I can't really see the film playing out in any way besides Godzilla, Mothra and Rodan all fighting against King Ghidorah in some way. Godzilla is already established as the protagonist monster, and the synopsis certainly points to King Ghidorah being the antagonist. In my opinion, Mothra can't be a villain and still be Mothra, and Rodan is traditionally Godzilla's ally, so him fighting alongside Godzilla isn't too out of the ordinary.
I certainly expect Godzilla and the other monsters to meet as enemies at first, especially in light of the synopsis, but once King Ghidorah shows up I won't be surprised to see them all turn against him. A "team-up" doesn't need to be a full blown "monster conference" like in Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, the three monsters could simply just turn their attention away from fighting each other and focus on fighting King Ghidorah, the larger threat. This sort of thing has happened before in the films, where monsters don't ever consciously team up but still end up fighting against a common foe, examples being Godzilla and M.O.G.U.E.R.A. against SpaceGodzilla in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla and Godzilla and Mothra against Gigan and Monster X in Final Wars. Even Jurassic World provides a good example of this scenario: the Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor and Mosasaurus all fight against the Indominus Rex and through their combined efforts succeed in defeating it, though they never consciously work together and simply go their separate ways afterwards because there's no point in continuing to fight. Something similar to that could easily happen in Godzilla 2.
I hope we at least get some news regarding the movie this years Comic-Con.
