RR44-Couldn't have said it better, yet again not realism Naturalism. Naturalism simply means basing the monsters off of nature, particularly in the way they look. It doesn't mean they can't come from space or shoot atomic rays.
I suppose a design like that would be acceptable, since that was likely what Kawakita was trying to go for in the Heisei series. However, I prefer Rodan to have more bulk and look like he can actually take on monsters on his own. I miss the Rodan that was locked in a stalemate with Godzilla for half of Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster. The incarnations since then have been fairly weak and forgettable.
realistic and Ghidorah = oxymoron. I wish that Edwards had not pinned the label of grounded and realistic.. to the Godzilla brand.. for the sake of making it believable. Lord of the Rings is total fantasy..as is Harry Potter.. and it made a ton of cash. The monsterverse.. IMO.. should follow in those footsteps. Keep it fantasy.. but make it so spectacular.. that people will want more of it. The second I heard the Hollow earth term in Kong... realism went out the window.. and fantasy took over completely and it seemed to work well for Kong. It was a huge change from Edwards approach.
The Transformers movies don't seem to be effected by the lack of grounded and realistic thinking.. even though the movies themselves sucked (imo).. People love seeing big screen action in a fantasy setting. That is what Godzilla should be.. every time.. from here on out.

I feel like they had, they just really had to.
TBH it's probably a hidden monster for either GvK or even GKOTM.
Heavily Agreed with TherizinoRex, and to be honest that's likely what he looks like. As for comic-con we have to just wait and see.
I really hope Legendary would give Rodan a more pteronodon look, like slightly bigger head, longer beak, longer horns and walking on all 4 or something like this.
The research station is in Siberia, not Serbia. And I doubt it's Godzilla, or at least not Godzilla himself. Godzilla was active in the South Pacific prior to 1954, and then reappeared in the Pacific in 2014. I doubt he somehow ended up frozen in Siberia in 1959. The possibility of it being the remains of another member of Godzilla's species is always there, and I'm curious to see what it really is.
Could the Serbia research station in 1959 be Godzilla frozen?
Gowhaletours- you're right! Don't know what's in Serbia since ghidorah is in Antarctica..
I've found all the episodes here: https://vk.com/videos224433251
Yes, I was just saying that there is some sort of constraint though. I don't know what that may be, I'm just glad they still are making Godzilla films.
TBH as of now there isn't really anything to discuss about Mothra, other then maybe the temple and that she's already cocooned.
G. H. (Gman), thanks for making that announcement. Man, when I asked a question on this forum, and it quickly became an argument thread about the validity our controversial friend TheTruthIsOutThere. I got like 30 email notifications from that thread on my phone in 1 hour. It was so annoying.
1954- that was the director of Godzilla vs kong not Godzilla 2. Also, hesitant doesn't have wings.

I liked it! But I think Legendary should introduce the nuclear pulse first and then introduce the red spiral breath in the future MonsterVerse films, if they decided to continue it after GvK.
While I admire what goes on at G-Fest, and have always wanted to go myself, it seems that some others misunderstood or even mistranslated what was said. I have a friend in Twitter that sent me this image. Apparently Toho can't make anymore Godzilla films until Godzilla vs Kong is said and done, when it didn't stop Toho from making Shin Godzilla after 2014, and even now Toho is making a trilogy, although anime, the point is they're still making some films. Here's the picture I'm referring to.

Here's my ideal set-up, it starts with a 1v1 between Godzilla and Ghidorah, with the latter overpowering the King of the Monsters. Just as he is about to deliver the killing blow, Mothra and Rodan interfere, tag-teaming the behemoth. However, they are overpowered and fall to the ground. Godzilla sees this and roars in anger as he stands up, engaging King Ghidorah in the final battle. It is a long, desperate, and bloody battle, but ultimately, he triumphs with a spiral-atomic red beam down the throats of the three-headed monster.
I would prefer to see Godzilla be able to rumble on equal terms in a solo match with KG. Maybe Godzilla has a little less firepower, but his grit and determination are just to much for KG. No, that is to much like Gamera, Godzilla should just kick his ass ;)
I looked up the actual Great Smog of London and now I don't think it has to be a toxic creature responsible for it, just something winged.
The great smog wasn't caused by additional pollution being introduced to the atmosphere, it was just the normal pollutants in London such as from cars and factories but due to adverse weather they just sort of hung in the air instead of drifting up or blowing away. Perhaps this odd air condotions was just caused by Rodan or some other monster's wings keeping all the pollution in the area rather than a kaiju polluting it more.
The director of godzilla 2 said godzilla vs hedorah was one of his top 5 godzilla movies, so the 1952 smog incisdent in London has to do with hedorah I bet. Also ghidorah is not in Siberia it is in the Antarctic so there is another monster there.
I should close it now and be done with this whole bogus-saga nonsense. Lets see who can refrain.
The topic is Mothra in Godzilla 2. It's that or nothing. Anything else and I lock it down.
Nice to see they're keeping this origin for Rodan.
Also, can someone please clear-up the Comic-Con situation for KOTM for me, because everywhere I've checked there haven't been any mentions of KOTM being at Comic-Con and I'm wondering if they're going to be there or not?
Heck, living animals being found frozen in ice and able to live after being thawed out is generally not an actual thing IRL as well. A select few organisms can do it, but it's definitely not the norm.
As always, it's the presentation of such unrealistic ideas that makes or breaks them. For the MonsterVerse, they've presented them in a relatively grounded manner, but they're working their way up to more outlandish themes and concepts bit by bit.
One of the other threads like this was recently closed because of the controversy and disagreements stirred in their wake. I feel it's best to just drop this entirely, at the risk of this thread being closed down as well. If others won't, just ignore them. I already gave my word not to speak another peep directly on it anymore, so this is all I'll say.

On that note, knowing that Mothra has been located in a Chinese temple, it makes me wonder what myths and legends she could be linked to in the region. As far as I can remember, there aren't any significant real-life moth-based mysticism in China.
Would you guys please limit your bashing of TheTruthIsOutThere. These forums are becoming quite unbearable with this obsessive troll hunting. I came here to read about Godzilla 2 speculations and news, not to read relentless attacks on a user. Yes, this TheTruthIsOutThere guy is very likely bogus, but his fake leaks are completely harmless. He ain't getting any money out of his fake leaks, it does not seem like he is grooming any vulnerable individuals for sex, he has not put any spams or porn on these forums, and none of his posts are that offensive. Plus, he seems a lot more pleasant and civil then many of you guys that are calling him out. Also your attempts to expose this TheTruthIsOutThere dude has now degraded into borderline bullying. Even if this TheTruthIsOutThere guy is nothing more then a sham.
I think here should be a scene where Mothra is chasing rodan and we just watch whose faster and then we see one of Mothras coolest ability. She bursts into speed out of nowhere and goes to Mach 4. That would be epic
If you are interested in a commentary track for the show you can find it here:
Not my podcast, but I found it interesting even though I don't have access to the episodes. I wonder if I will ever have a way to watch the episodes?
Can I get a link to the show plz Danzilla93
I find the idea of a heroic Godzilla with kaiju allies is appealing. With King Ghidorah as the 'bad guy,' the evil, seemingly unstoppable threat, Godzilla, Mothra and Rodan could save the day, so to speak. My main concern would be the monsters not being anthropomorphized to the point that their battles look like some kind of giant monster WWE match. We kind of had that in Godzilla Final Wars. The heroic aspect of Godzilla was evident at the Golden Gate Bridge and in his fight with the Female MUTO in Godzilla. I just don't want to see him reduced to being some kind of monster pet.
On another note, the Monarch Timeline of events is simply brilliant. What a great way to promote this film as well as future installments in the MonsterVerse Saga. Monarch, and its machinations, should be at the core of the film's narrative. We certainly have the cast for it.
I'm really looking forward to this film, even this far out.
I think this has derailed enough. It's clear people aren't going to let it go.
That said,
TheGman123,
If you want further reasons you've been duped, feel free to PM me or others who have figured this guy out. There's a reason people like this are met with hostility.
Otherwise, everyone, stop feeding the trolls. Stop discussing their fairy tales.
Locked, stocked and hung as a warning for future posters.
I'll hold up my end and drop the subject entirely. You won't hear a peep from me about this in the public forums again.

So, we have Mount Pinatubo, Isle de Mona, and the Great Smog of London as possible Rodan appearances in the MonsterVerse. I've seen speculation on which one is truly Rodan, but then I thought........ why not all of them?
Maybe Rodan had emerged earlier and caused the Great Smog of London, then retreated back underground. Perhaps he then re-emerged from the Mount Pinatubo volcanic eruption before settling on Isle de Mona, where he retreated back underground once more.
After all, we have precedence for monsters making the journey and taking naps, like Godzilla awakening in the 1940s before going back to sleep and reawakening in 1954, or the male Hokmuto awakening in 1999 in the Philippines and making his way to Janjira before cocooning for 15 years.
Oh Jesus Christ another thread full of very vague sentences that sum up to "Rodan can fly".
I notice that @Thetruthisoutthere always seems to stop replying when we call him out for providing solid and believable leaks. If he truly wishes to prove he is a reliable source. PROVE IT.
"I honestly couldn't think of any other way without making it too far-fetch."
You mean as far-fetched as the Hollow Earth theory being the explanation for monsters in so-called "serious" and "naturalistic" movies made 200-250 years after its been laughed out of the scientific community?
Cool.
Because You needed to make a point to the others. I think you went about that all wrong then. If you are truly sorry for calling me out, I think you could have went about it in a different direction. You could have just as easily said "I had a PM conversation with another individual about this whole scenario." Would have been much simpler.
Look, you even said you hold no condone for the comments that were made. That's fine. I don't think I would either but, it's freedom of speech.
Seeing how you've called me a jerk in the past, with still no apologies either, it seems to me you purposely called me out for a reason. While our conversation in the PM is not shared, which is the smart thing to do, the fact is, you aren't making a very good point to others by trying to pick on someone like me.
I've got nothing else to say than this. Because things that were said that you thought were all wrong in your eyes doesn't mean others are going to agree, myself especially.
Speculate away. Be my guest. But, when TheTruthIsOutThere showed up, you treated the individual like he was an inside source giving solid information and defended them until real confirmation knocked everything they said out the window. I'll gladly stick to the PM. But even then, I'll probably ignore it. Because you still think I have a so called "attitude."
You're right, it was wrong of me to single you out like this, Huge-Ben. I needed to make a point to the others, and that was a bit hypocritical of me to bring you into it, even if I didn't point out any specifics of our exchange and the principle of the message was sound.
I didn't mean to start trouble, I just wanted people to PEACEFULLY let this thing slide and not drag it further, since I'm tired of this age-old discussions as is.
How about a compromise: I'll drop this and not push the topic further IF others are willing to do the same. No secret agendas, no more singling out, just forgive and forget. And I do emphasize the "forget". If we keep bringing this up, we'll continue to end up in these so-called "circle-jerks".
BTW, this has NOTHING to do with TheTruthIsOutThere's actual content and validity, more the general discourse and stirrings his/her discussions have stirred up. I tire of these constant exchanges, and I would absolutely love if we could just drop them entirely.
No more. Just PM me if anyone wants to continue this discourse, and I'll do the same with the person of controversy myself.
Thanks to those who helped clear up the "frozen in ice" thing :)
I guess I don't get what the hang up some seem to have about King Ghidorah being a space monster is. I'm guessing it just comes down to the usual, admittedly odd double-standard I see a lot in the Godzilla fandom about whether or not things are "realistic", which never really makes much sense to me, but I think part of this is a generational thing with younger fans.
It seems like no one ever gets caught up on the idea of these giant monsters being many hundreds of feet tall and supposedly weighing many tens of thousands of tons, thereby breaking and defying all known laws of physics and biology right from the get-go. Even no less an authority than Neil deGrasse Tyson called out how "unrealistic" this is, but it seems that all fans can accept this. But then they'll obsess over other aspects of the monsters, like their origins, and argue about whether or not they're "realistic". I don't get it, but again I think it's more of a generational thing.
I'm not trying to pick on anyone here, and we all have our opinions. And compared to so many G-fans nowadays, I'm an old lady. But I've just never been able to wrap my head around this aspect of the Godzilla fandom.
And it is worth noting of course that we're still just speculating if King Ghidorah will really be an extraterrestrial here. That was his classic origin in the Godzilla series of course, but even later movies such as Godzilla vs King Ghidorah and GMK changed Ghidorah's origin, so there's certainly precedent even from the Japanese films for KG having different origins and backgrounds.
