KingKaijuGojiraGodzilla Minus Zero NewsBREAKING: First look at Godzilla from Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters!

Godzilla 2014 Himself has a very good point. However it does leave us feeling optimistic that the changes will be an improvement on the overall design.

Very happy that the eyes and teeth are bigger, however we shouldn't really judge this at all. It's barley a visible picture of what's probably an early production of his face.

His eyes are larger and his teeth are more visible. I am happy. Those were my biggest complaints about Godzilla's look in 2014. I am satisfied I can now see Godzilla's eyes and teeth.

GMAN that's about all I noticed as well. Of course that's just the head, it doesn't seem like that model shows the dorsal plates, so those could be different as well.

Not much different--Less so than I was hoping if this is what they're sticking too. Hard to tell but it seems like his teeth might be longer and eye bigger, which would be two welcomed changes.

How very fantastic! I am curious as to what the glowing golden dots to the right of Godzilla's head might be. :)

I swear in the reflection off the glass of the plane I see gravity beams. I'm probably wrong but that's what I'm hoping!

This is pretty neat. The neck definitely seems thicker. The upper row of teeth and the eyes seem larger as well.

@Dopepope, ah I think you're right! A radically redesigned Gigan, perhaps! Would love to see Gigan explored in the Monsterverse.

Also, I think that last one is Gigan. Not Varan. The facial side claws, the arms come to a point, and the chest claws, the back fin, all indicate Gigan.

I think those are amazing. I'd be thrilled if King Ghidorah looked like that in the new film.

So, answer me this, G-Fan history buffs.

There have been many different designs throughout each series, but for the ones that have connected continuity, Showa specifically, was there a different suit each time there was a major design shift? I ask because the start of this era had VERY different designs from the end of this period of films.

Also, when it comes to the similar but subtle different suit designs, was it the same suit changed up, or did they keep making suits? Just curious is all.

Soltic2Godzilla ForumWhat Made You a Godzilla Fan?

I watched the first Godzilla with Raymond Blur. Than I watched all the reruns of the 1960’s Godzilla and the 1970’s Godzilla on Creature feature on channel 50 from Detroit. I was hooked line and sinkered from there. I have most of the the Godzilla movies from the 1970’s all the movies from 1985-Present. And some toys as well.

There is no in-universe explanation. His changing appearance is dictated only by out-of-universe factors. As far as the characters within the films are concerned, he still looks exactly the same as he always has from film to film.

I was kinda looking for an in-universe explanation.

Well the other thing is it wasn't even an announcement of any official capacity. It was actually a casual interview that was mostly about Death Note.

Nothing is confirmed about his words regarding Godzilla vs. Kong.

RiseUp,
He's generally the same shape, height, etc. He just looks different from movie to movie depending on the director's vision and needs of the particular production.

It's no different from Batman looking like Michael Keaton in two movies and then Val Kilmer in a third. Or Bruce Banner looking like Edward Norton in The Incredible Hulk and then Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers.

Oh ok, didn't think of that. That is really the curse of vague announcements from the cast and crew, they are so easy to take out of context.

I never really understood how Godzilla was able to change his shape in the films' universes.

I've seen that and didn't report on it because I believe many people are taking it out of context. I think it's more likely Wingard is talking about human characters from Godzilla 2 in Godzilla vs. Kong, especially since some actors are rumored to be contractually obligated to multiple movies.

It's also likely Kong is "constantly under attack" from other humans and Godzilla. It's not specified what is attacking him.

And finally there's the context of the, "lots of monsters going crazy on each other," line. Some people are reading it as, "LOTS OF MONSTERS going crazy on each other," as if there will be a bunch of monsters fighting one another. But I think what Wingard meant was, "lots of MONSTERS GOING CRAZY ON EACH OTHER," meaning there's lots of monster action--Perhaps just Godzilla and Kong going crazy on each other throughout in the film.

I could be wrong, but this isn't anything to blow out of proportion yet. It's certainly not confirmation that there will be other monsters in the movie.

Even tho I own hard copies in both DVD and Blu Ray, I like to know through Hulu that I can now stream these movies anywhere I go. I think that's a great takeaway from this. plus I can watch them in every tv in my house. I have a Roku and it simplifies my entertainment needs. so now whether im in my kitchen or basement or out for a couple days away from my dvd and bluray collection, I can watch Godzilla anywhere I go!

How long have these negotiations been going on for? they need to hurry the hell up. Is the whole movie already shot and done? I thought it was stopped at a certain point?

whatever the case I think it should just be released. every G-fan knows about it already. might as well cash in on something they didn't spend money on in the first place.
