This is fun. I can see a lot of what your implying here to work.
@ The Jurassic Bootleg, If you have ever seen the movie Krampus(directed by Michael Dougherty) , the "Jack In The Box" monster was played by just 2 people. Each part of the monster needed like 2 people to act inside the suit then a handful of puppeteers to make the eyes and mouth move. So to make King Ghidorah animated by motion capture they would need a handful of actors to play each head, and body, hell maybe even the tail!
Michael Dougherty really likes to use actors instead of using CGI(if he can help it) to give the monsters a personality. The movie Krampus and Trick R Treat really gives a great insight on Dougherty's direction and talent on bringing his characters to life. He's an old school fan of special FX, that's why Im excited to see this movie with Dougherty at the helm. Dougherty so far has not made a terrible film. But this one has the biggest budget of them all so hopefully Dougherty doesn't get lost in this film.
@The Jurassic Bootleg Intimidating? Yes. Convincing? That depends on your opinion. And you can just look at my previous replies on this forum for mine. Again, that is all for me.
I personally think the dark color made the design intimidating.
I knew it was something wrong, and it was the color with the lighting. It made it look like it was just a copy, not an original design. Now if the lighting was just like the one in the concept art (aka instead of a dark tone, it would be bright so that the design can actually be appealing [just like with G14 almost]). But they had to put him against a dark-ish background, and that was disappointing. Sorry for all the confusion I caused, but that is all from me.
You're welcome for my comment, thank you for your reply and announcement, and for the announcement I have one thing to say: hip, hip, hooray.
Also, while I'm here...
In honor of its 54th Anniversary and the 84th birthday of its leading man, the great Akira Takarada, the GNP is honored to present the beginning of a new Godzilla novelization, retelling one of the series’ finest moments: 1964’s, Mothra vs. Godzilla.
Legendary Godzilla has multiple points on his dorsal plates, they just typically have one larger central point. Godzilla's always had multiple points on his dorsal plates, the biggest difference is that the 2014 Godzilla's have fewer points which all point straight up, making them look more like broken glass than the typical maple leaf shaped. The Ready Player One Mechagodzilla has the same dorsal plate design as Godzilla 2014 in the concept art and in the movie itself. The only real discernible change made to Mechagodzilla's design in the film was that it was given a darker black coloration than the grayish color in the concept art.
^Now that's all I'll be able to see! ;)
No, no. It's ok. Don't want you spoiling it. I'll wait for when it comes out. See you then.
@ The Jurassic Bootleg To me, this looks like an actual modernization to the Showa Mechagodzillas, but the one in the movie, again, and I quote, "like you said, 'its just metallic Legendary Godzilla'. That's why I don't like the design." That is the difference for me. You guys can have your opinions and disagree, but for me, I know a difference between designs when I see one.
Still look exactly like the final design.
^Don’t want to give too much away, but his backstory will be a combination of the Heisei Mechagodzilla and Kiryu.
And what about Mechagodzilla II? I ask because naturally, after Mecha-King Ghidorah was defeated, they salvaged his parts and created Mechagodzilla II (Plus Godzilla Junior is in this, so why not?).
Because the tops of the dorsal plate in the concept art look like the three triangle-shaped tops we would expect Godzilla's dorsal plates to be like, whereas in the movie, the tops of the dorsal plates are just one triangle-shaped top, just like Legendary Godzilla's (And I should know, because I have box-art and the figure of the 6-inch Neca Godzilla to prove it.). Therefore, I think the concept art is better.
The final design is just metallic as the concept design.
The final design in the movie is almost exactly the same as that concept art, just darker in color. I don't get how the design in the movie itself is any more just a "metallic Legendary Godzilla" than the one in that concept art.
@The Jurassic Bootleg Too late. And btw, that is exactly why. Like you said, "ts just metallic Legendary Godzilla". That's why I don't like the design. You're welcome for the explanation, and for the following:
"What's wrong with the final design? I like the final design, I mean yea sure its just metallic Legendary Godzilla but it also makes sense for it to look like Legendary Godzilla because.....uhm...uhh, ok I actually don't know why they base it on the Legendary Godzilla. Maybe because Legendary Godzilla is what western audiences are familiar with, that's just my guess, don't quote me on that."
That is all. Thanks, and you're welcome.
^Godzilla 2014 is most likely a no. GMK design is under consideration.
New chapter. Battle is finished. One more chapter left.

Still better than the one in the final film (Ready Player One, not Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II. The one in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II is still awesome, even if I only ever saw the movie once before Hulu's Godzilla movie streaming rights expired.).
The concept artist has said that the design took some inspiration from Noriyoshi Ohrai's design for Mechagodzilla featured on the advance poster for Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II. You can clearly see the influence in the arms.
Will Legendary Godzilla (G14) and GMK Godzilla appear in the next one as well?
Now this is the Mechagodzilla I was hoping for when I went to see Ready Player One, not a copy, paste, and redesign of G14. It is original and awesome. I like it (by like, I mean that I love it).
If I'm being honest, when I read the title of "GODZILLA: The Junior Novelization", I honestly thought it was a book for Godzilla the Series. But then I remembered it wasn't. Lol.
Again, and I quote from myself, "
You all seem to forget Rodan is in GKOTM too, and remember, he usually walks on two legs, not on his legs and wings. If this logic is implied, that should mean that they should stay true to the originals. What I'm wondering is how they would do motion capture for King Ghidorah (i.e. the legs for the two legs, and the arms - will they be the wings or the two other heads?).". Base the theory off of this. You're welcome for starting.
I really like this design
I see the head of the Heisei MechaGodzilla, the body of the Showa MechaGodzilla, the mechanical details of the millennium MechaGodzilla and the shape of the 2014 Godzilla.
eh, it's okay.
eh, it's okay.
This version of Mecha-Godzilla kinda looks like a fusion of the Showa, and Millenium designs to me.
@The Jurassic Bootleg
Maybe personality? It's possible operating the body may differ from how the heads are portrayed, calling for different talent.
^Aliens like the Xiliens won't appear. Battra has been considered for some time but I'm not sure if he'll end up making it. Zilla definitely will.
New chapter. Battle continues.
Finally, an HD image. It looks great.
Why the heck do they need lots of actors to play the body? I get that it took lots of people to operate a Ghidorah suit but this is motion capture, I don't think it needs a lot of people.
Haven't seen Rampage yet, so I have no idea on how convincing this person's mocap abilities are, but it's pretty cool that they have multiple actors trying to portray one monster. It feels like a natural evolution of multi-manned suits, what Shin Godzilla tried to do, even if it didn't work out.
Turns out Liles will only be playing the middle head. Actors Alan Maxson and Richard Dorton will play the other two heads and more actors will play the body:

The motion capture in Rampage was excellent, so this some good news at least.
I think it would be a close battle. You have the agility of G14 but the quick evolution, and larger array of attacks from Shin. Shin would be on top when all is said and done.
^My pleasure! They're all pretty good reads, too! I think I read the Godzilla 98' junior novelization cover to cover like 3 times as a kid. ;)
