Titanosaurus you're probably right I didn't think of that
Why is Mothra considered one of the strongest monsters compared to Godzilla, when she always gets easily defeated By Monsters like Godzilla? (Godzilla, Ghidorah, Gigan, etc.)
Watch Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster. It's one of the best, and the first movie featuring Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra teaming up. Even if it's just a Mothra Larva, it's still a good movie.
Paint Job- I'm going with SHMA, but the NECA Gmk atomic breath version's paint is pretty good looking.
Sculpting- SHMA, details are mostly spot-on, but at times there can be very wide and awkward gaps.
Articulation- SHMA, but I have pulled off some cool poses with the NECA figures.
Accessories- SHMA, but NECA is definitely going in the right direction.
I'm going to add a price tab just because. And It may be obvious on who takes the price cake.
Price- NECA, because they probably are making a King Ghidorah figure that doesn't cost $180.
RR44,
Godzilla '14 made more money worldwide, but as far as we know, Toho only gets the money these movies make in Japan. Godzilla '14 made $31 million and Shin Godzilla made $79 million--It's easy to see why they would rather stick to their own devices.
Toho has also never said they were sore about having no creative control--In fact they made a lot of stipulations on the 2014 film. Although hearsay, it was apparently Toho that mandated Godzilla fight another monster in 2014. They also had a lot of say on Godzilla's design.
Toho has expressed interest in creating their own Godzilla universe, but how they want to go about it has yet to be addressed.
Although I don't think Godzilla vs. Destoroyah is as good as others believe, Burning Godzilla never remotely seemed "cheesy".
I remember watching these films as far back as I can remember on TV back in the 70s, ( I was born in 71 ), and I remember my dad taking the family to go and see the new movies at the theaters when they would come out. I remember watching the Godzilla cartoon from the early 80s. I will say he is one of my favorite monster heroes. What made me a fan, The epic battles with the other monsters of course. The new Movies and animation just brings back all the good memories of being a kid except now they are just epic, I mean really epic.
Well I was right about Burning Godzilla. I thought that either Mothra or Rodan would transfer their energy to Godzilla and super-charging him to defeat Ghidorah. I just hope that his burning state is temporary, because I really don't want to see him die. I like his design, the orange patterns are really similar to the original.
And now with this major hint drop from the film production team that Mothra will sacrifice herself in order to transfer her powers to Godzilla ultimately supercharging him into burning Godzilla(@2:00 in of the KOTM trailer 2 you can see him burning). Makes it more of a strong possibility that now he’ll have to destroy himself in order to defeat King Ghidorah.
And since we all know now that more kaiju are coming forward in this new trailer as well as the Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020. So if that’s the case theirs still that chance that G jr is going to take the reigns for the upcoming GvsK as well as KOTM2 which I am suspecting will be an all new version of DESTROY ALL MONSTERS for 2022.
I am just concerned about how it will be used in the movie and in the rest of the Monsterverse. Hopefully, it will be a one-off thing and won't be some sort of exmachina thing that will be used in other movies.
I am going to have to disagree about the message the movie was telling. That may be what you took from it, but I have to agree with Gman that more was at play here.
I honestly expected a lot more from this movie. The animation stunk, there was a bunch of plot holes. And the fight consisted of Ghidorah coming down and biting Godzilla. This sucked im disappointed
THat is literally 'FIRE' bad pun....ok
@Moldvan0731 Yeah I can see where that could worry some people. I can't think of One Toho Godzilla movie that wasn't cheesy. Well I guess Shin, but it's always been a cheesefest, so I never thought of Burning Godzilla as especially cheesy. When I was little I thought it was kinda sad, but awesome at the same time. I think subconsciously what most people like about Godzilla is the concept behind it, and what it would look like if these things were real, or were in a movie that made it look real. It's your imagination that brings these characters to life, even as an adult, bc it is really difficult to watch those old movies and see anything other than a guy in a suit. So I think it's more the idea of burning Godzilla that I, and the design of the glowing suit. Now, KotM looks to be the 1st time we'll ever see these monsters in full motion & as real as they can look in our time, which is probably why the hype is so big. You gotta try and accept everything within the story, so you don't see it as cheesy, you gotta really buy into it. Personally, I know I'll be able to let that stuff slide bc Godzilla's been cheesy my whole life, 35 years. But when I was younger I definitely had more trouble with that. What I'm worried about is the design looking, bc it doesn't look great on that toy, but mainly I'm worried that they might be throwing too much in the movie. Like Doomsday in BvS. I mean we're on the second Godzilla movie and we're already doing Burning Godzilla from when he died in the Heisei series? That's too quick, and it worries that throwing too much in usually negatively affects the story. Also, are they blowing things out bc GvsK will be the last movie? Yeah so, no matter the reasoning, I doubt you're in the minority. There are many troubling things about them doing Burning Godzilla.
I would like to think that Godzilla would win. I just can't see him losing to kong but I can see kong giving Godzilla one of the toughest fights he has every had. either way this film already has my money.
This sounds awesome. Maybe mothra uses a high radiation technique like the blinding light in the trailer which reacts with godzilla and super charges him. Either way I really cant wait.
I was an 11 year old and I just saw the second concept teaser of godzilla where it was just his silhouette and a roar. i was like "the movie comes out in 5 months, i just found a new obsession" so for five months i researched godzilla and the wider kaiju world
Unleashed!
On Godzilla's atomic breath the electromagnetic field produced from the female muto significantly reduced Godzilla's atomic powers. in the novelisation it is explained this is a defense mechanism the Muto's developed as a result of atomic capabilities of Godzilla and his species. futhermore depending ob whether or not you take the awakening prequel comic as canon or not godzilla has only been roaming Earth outside of hibernation for 69-60 years up until 2014 and i don't believe godzilla was seen raiding any stockpiles of radioactive energy suggesting he hadn't produced much nuclear energy. because of this it can easily be mistaken that godzilla wasn't giving it his full and that's because he wasn't able to because thousands of years of hibernation and parasitoid kaiju with abilities able to nullify godzilla's
On the Golden Gate Bridge scene the military did hurt Godzilla not significantly but you can see he clearly get's shot in the gills which would be a weak spot for him (this is true for other animals with gills), the Muto's even exploit this. Him being shot in the gills causes his to recoil and inevitably smash into the bridge.

Godzilla has been my favorite “thing” in my life my whole life. Ever since my father sat me in front of “Final Wars” as a child I was infatuated with this giant fire breathing monster that kicked ass everywhere he went. I saw every movie there was about him since then, and have done endless research and invested so much time to understand and enjoy this thing that facinated me so much. Amidst my new obsession as a child, I would constantly pretend all my toys were the strongest and coolest things that ever existed ever. But I knew Godzilla was important when I realized he had become dominant over every one I’ve had. He was “and is” the strongest, most powerful and best force there was and ever will be. This childish obsession grew into a serious appreciation for the work of Tomoyuki Tanaka’s creation and it’s backstory, meaning, and evolution throught time. There was never a time I did not like Godzilla, he was so powerful and good (most of the time), and the idea and essence of him amazed and inspired me. A prominent piece of my character is the fact that I’m an artist, and another is the way I think philosophically and how my mind operates. These are both influenced and enhanced by this beautiful creation of natural balance that inspired my mind and his strong and sharp form combined with a will to protect the planet that stylized and evolved my own artwork. I love Godzilla because it connects with me on such a deep, personal level and provided such a rich and pure source of ideas in my mind and heart. I seriously was brought to tears by the 2014 Gareth Edwards film when I saw him on that big IMAX screen. After years of growing up he was finally back, I never get that emotion during anything, but I did there. I couldn’t be more excited for him to prove why he’s still the king in 2019’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”. My dream is to one day work for Legendary Studios and be appart of bringing this creation back into the world the best way Godzilla deserves to be. Here’s to my dream coming true.
Mall Hail the King.
-Ed
Godzilla is the one and only king. When those fleeting lives destined to die forget their humbleness and sing praise of their glory such will shake the very heavens and split the earth, and they shall know the wrath of the divine. The inevitable incarnation of destruction. Oh, King of the Monsters. Only the most sensible bow to Godzilla's divine and vengeful power. Godzilla is not an animal to be caged but a king and god worthy of worship and praise, we are his animals to be caged.
I knew he would enter a "Burning Stage" based off the last trailer so if you paid attention during it then this wouldn't be as big of a spoiler but more of a confirmation. Also, I think it will be more of a temporary power up like in 1993 when Rodan transferred energy to Godzilla who was then resurrected and destroyed Mechagodzilla with a massive surge of energy. But I hope Ghidorah doesn't die but instead retreats into space like in 1964, so this way he could always come back, maybe with a few classic Godzilla monsters.
I don't think that's remotely the message of the movie. And even if it can be read as anti-progressive, I think that's missing the forest for the trees. There's a far more convoluted discussion going on in the film about topics pertaining to religion, faith, hatred, aggression and arrogance. To say the movie has a message, or singular message, feels too simple.
I already spent my two cents on how the film covers these topics in another thread, so I'll just copy and paste those thoughts since they're relevant to the topic:
It's interesting how each monster represents a god to certain people and have religions/cults built around them. One of my favorite things about the second movie was how hypocritical the Bilusaludo were toward the Exif. They mocked the Exif for their religion, but really the Bilusaludo's religion was the worship of their technology/nano-metal/MechaGodzilla--It was no different. They were just blind to it.
By the third movie it's clear that the Exif act more as a cult than a religion, but I suppose it's still worth exploring when you compare them to the benevolent Houtua. Godzilla, MechaGodzilla and King Ghidorah were all perceived as gods or worshiped out of arrogance and fear. Mothra is the only one worshiped because the Houtua trust her and find comfort in her. She's not being used to justify negative attributes--Like Haruo's hatred, the Bilusaludo's arrogance and the Exif's cultural beliefs.
In fact Mothra's existence did the one thing humanity has always needed to understand each other better--Help the Houtua communicate better. She was the antithesis of all of these 'gods' and unlike Godzilla, MechaGodzilla [City] and King Ghidorah, she never got physically involved. She was somehow above all of that.
Major spoiler here, but what blew my mind was his [Haruo's] decision by the end of the third movie. While it doesn't really work on a practical level - he left his unborn child behind and we're supposed to assume his sacrifice means no one else held ill will against Godzilla - it really sings as a symbolic gesture.
The Houtua had no word for "hate", but Haruo carried a sense of aggression and hatred with him that couldn't exist if humanity were to move on. King Ghidorah was a physical manifestation of his hatred and the nanometal was the remnants of Bilusaludo arrogance. In ridding the Houtua of himself, Godzilla finally ended his reign as the "God of Destruction". Godzilla had already remade the world in his image and the Houtua had learned to co-exist with him. So with Haruo's death he really did become just like a tornado or lightning. (As one of the Mothra twins said.)
Additionally, King Ghidorah would no longer return and the nanometal had been destroyed. This could be viewed as anti-progressive, but I tend to see it as progression of another kind. It turns out Mothra may be the only real god(ess) in this universe afterall--And a good one that encourages communication and removes hate from the vocabulary. Haruo would've infected that vernacular.
It's idealistic, but shockingly admirable. Planet Eater isn't the first story I've seen to suggest removing aggressive heroes that threaten peace. Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz also engages in the discussion of what to do with soldiers in a world that doesn't need them--Should peace exist. Star Trek Beyond's villain was a good man cast aside in a world that no longer needed his aggressive nature. He felt alone in the Federation and attempted to shatter their peace because it was in his nature.
It's not a perfectly thought out ideal, but it has merit and is worth discussing: Do soldiers like Haruo in Godzilla, Heero in Gundam and Krall in Star Trek exist merely to protect the more peaceful and benevolent until they're no longer needed? And what happens to them when they're recognized as an old breed of unnecessary aggression? Do they die? Do they leave? Do they try to find a new sense of meaning?
It's sort of a scary topic and I was in shock when The Planet Eater touched on it. If briefly.
Sowhat... I'm good with knowing this... but we still don't know just how exactly he gets that way or what the purpose is. Mothra's scales could be what triggers it as she battles Godzilla... or she is empowering him to help him... at this point... who really know other than the people making the movie.
We can’t actually see Kong’s legs in that picture stretched out behind him and it’s concept art after all though it helps us visualize more.
I think he’ll reach or surpass the 300 foot mark by 2020. A size like that will make his fighting methods more impactful and effective. Though I may have the comparison mixed up it’s kindve hard for me to get perspective unless you pose them next to each other. It’ll probably be ok if he’s at least 250 minimum since “height” isn’t really everything

something like this would be cool , idk how tall that makes kong in the image though.
This is insane!
Thats extremely impressive of a 4.5 year old. He seems to love Godzilla as much as any other fan.
Just my thoughts, but Rodan looks GOD-AWFUL
The large Godzilla looks pretty cool though
I knew this already from my leaked sources
Still cool, though.
This movie just keeps getting better and better and it's not even in theaters yet!
I hope Bandai shows their figures before these are released so I can decide which ones to get
This burning state should only be a power up. Godzilla having a meltdown was a bad idea in 95 and would really piss me off now. I hope Ghidorah survives with all three heads. Destroyah would be a good final boss for Godzilla Ghidorah and Kong to team up and fight in Godzilla 3.
Yes! Burning Godzilla had the best design! Can't wait to see what he looks like in the movie!
I WANT ALL OF THEM!
Well, fan theories and all that.
@Vonzilla5000 I just can't imagine it happening without it being cheesy like it was in the past. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised though. Also, I hope he will somehow will get back to his normal form in Godzilla vs. Kong, otherwise Kong will be even more of an underdog.
Hey @Moldovan0731, elaborate! I'd love to hear why you find this disappointing. I'm sure a lot of people will agree.
It's certainly Powered-Up Godzilla, and probably Legendary's version of Burning Godzilla, but is that really what we should be calling it? Burning implies he's burning up, and classically that's exactly what he did and the only thing it was ever used for. Well, I guess he more melted down, but same difference. I'm sure it'll originate from nuclear power in this film too, but if parts of his skin don't look like they're about explode white hot lava from them, his spines aren't melting off, and the end result isn't his body burning off of his skeleton, ...is that really Burning Godzilla? Still, I'm sure it'll look cool, and I can't wait to see him ripping Ghidorah's heads off one by one!
