The mosnterverse mecha-godzilla should look like the ready player one versionversion because it looked designed like the monsterverse godzilla.
You were probably expecting a different kind of movie. Planet Eater and the other anime films are more about the human characters, Haruo especially, than Godzilla.
I think Monsterverse Godzilla's design is perfect. Shin Godzilla has hartman hips, pregnant belly, and fat rolls on his legs!

Those are some pretty cool ideas. Especially the color changing eyes depending on their power level. Hopefully, we will get a Monsterverse Mechagodzilla someday.
There's no side of Godzilla we can see that can save that movie from its wretched screenplay and magically developed characters. At least Godzilla: The Planet Eater tried to give us some relevant topics to think about. SpaceGodzilla literally, I mean literally, tries to warn us not to pollute space without linking it to anything relevant.
And as boring as people find the Planet Eater's battle, at least it didn't drag on and on and on as long as the boring final battle from SpaceGodzilla.

Personally I don't think that Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla was all that bad, I actually enjoyed it because it shows a side of Godzilla we never really see, and that's his caring side. If you pay close attention, when Junior (I'm calling little Godzilla Junior because it's easier) is being attacked by SpaceGodzilla, Godzilla rushes to protect Junior, and when Junior is imprisoned in SpaceGodzilla's crystals, Godzilla becomes enraged. If you think about the final fight and the body language and length of Roars Godzilla displayed, you could tell he was extremely upset and enraged. It's a nice side to see to Godzilla when he isn't destroying everything in his path. I feel like the last 3 movies of the Heisei series focused more on Godzilla's emotional side.
A slimmed-down Godzilla would not be a good design for this movie because Godzilla needs the bulk to tackle this huge Ghidorah

As long as Godzilla vs Hedorah exists it will be hard for anything to take that title away from it imo.

It's not JUST the fact that he's running. At least, not for me. It's the fact that he's doing so whilst being so very very THICC. This bulk of his combined with that speed makes for a very powerful force to be reckoned with.
Shin Godzilla and Godzilla Earth are generally long-ranged attackers. But Legendary Godzilla? He just rushes right in like the classic Showa-era Godzilla, only he has the size and strength of a modern Godzilla to back it up.

Especially Mothra and Rodan very beautifully painted
Some suggestions:
1 - Pay more attention to the size (Godzilla's head is bigger than his body)
2. Draw the volume of the different organs with more precision (see Rodan's hands and Ghidorah's neck)
3. Make your drawing in Paper that is without lines
Just a thought mind you... but has anyone considered the possibility that there may be two Godzillas in this movie... and that one of them dies... and the other comes out of the Atlantic ocean and finishes the fight with Ghidorah and defeats him ? Burning Godzilla(90's) ends up dying... and offspring takes his place... so if there is a version of burning Godzilla in this film... it could be the one who dies... and then gets replaced by an offspring. (I love theories because you can imagine just about anything or any possibility)
I have another theory... if the whole hollow earth theme is gonna be played out in this monsterverse… then it stands to reason that an offspring of Godzilla's species... could be lurking somewhere deep within the hollow earth... just like this current Godzilla was doing before he was awakened. In nature... propagation of species is common place. Without propagation... every living thing would inevitably die off and that is a fact. So if Godzilla is the last of his kind... like Kong is (or so we think)… then their deaths would mean imbalance in nature (monsterverse nature of coarse). Mothra lays eggs... Mutos spawn... I'm certain if Rodan had a mate... eggs would be laid... and even the skull crawlers propagated... so If there is any possible future for this franchise to continue with Godzilla as it's main monster... killing him off would not be the best idea. This after all is not the same Godzilla from 1954. It's more like a Showa Godzilla... and if these movies are crafted right... they could continue on for at least 20 years making other kaiju films in the same vein as MCU... and make boatloads of money in the process. That is if TOHO joins the party and get money out of the deal too. I know if I were behind the whole thing... that's what I would do. Junior (you know whom I'm referring too) was an offspring. Hatched from an egg. So think in those terms... what if there is an egg and when the MUTO's went on a tare... Godzilla went right after them with a purpose because they were a threat to the propagation of species... in particular... Godzilla's. He wasted no time in hunting them down and killing them. The questions would be... why... and to what ends ? The answer... survival of his species... and all the others that do not pose a threat to natures balance.
That is a thing of beauty. To the creator of it... 2 thumbs up and then some.

Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla still exists. So no. Not even close.
The Planet Eater didn't work in terms of character work or exciting battles, but the contemplative themes it was bringing up, via characters as mouthpieces, were still fascinating. It's no great movie, but I think the disappointment regarding this movies is expanding into the absurd.
Honestly, I REALLY like how Legendary's Godzilla can full-on sprint now. Gives him some extra uniqueness given his immense bulk and animalistic brawler fighting style.
It also means that Kong's only advantage thus far is agility and potentially intelligent strategy.

I don't have an issue with the big G running, but I draw the line at "hover" or "fly", that would remind me too much of the trippy tone of Godzilla vs Hedorah, and I don't think that is the tone Director of KOTM is aiming at.

This articulation, and Ghidorahs neck being able to wrap around stuff. That's priceless. And the figure has so much detail in them It looks like they just jumped out of the trailers itself and into real life

Definitely not the worst. That title belongs to Godzilla 1998 and Godzilla's Revenge. I do agree with SpaceGman. It was the best of the anime trilogy. Personally I hope they do another Godzilla anime series but better.
