@Gmkgoji,
Not here to stir up anything, but I do need to point out that Gman was not specifically calling your "opinion" BS, rather he was stating that a certain amount of a supposed "plot leak" is BS.
We know that there is some very accurate information floating around, but at the same time, there is a BS "plot leak" that's also floating around.
Now, when Chris and Gman say they have sources linked closely with the making of this film, they're not lying to you about that. I would love to explain, but I can't say anything due to higher powers watching my every move. This falls back to what Gman was telling you in his first response about "Sources tied to the production are under heavy watch by both Legendary and WB after the toy leaks." Which I can confirm.
You don't have to believe either of us. You have stated what you believe, and we respect that. Sometimes comments can be misread and misinterpreted.
Gosh, I really hope Godzilla games are brought back. I used to play Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee with my big brother all the time. Those were good times.
The Ghidorah one is hilarious. I would totally get that for my kid
Well, it's still early days for nailing the release date. Not too late for the studio to move the release date around to avoid clashing with other big blockbusters...right? At least I am assuming they will move the date, they are not dumb enough to think they can take on the FF franchise without any consequences?
G. H. (Gman): Haha, good thing you aren't directing KOTM. Although I suppose Jet Jaguar could be in the monsterverse..eventually. Just not right now, and hopefully not in KOTM. It would destroy the tone of the movie right then and there.
@Chris
I know that Gman is an administrator for the website, and that he deserves and has earned respect. This is going to sound low, but he offended me, and I got angry. I admit it. The problem is, we have differing opinions, he called mine out for being wrong. Is he right? Well, he certainly can be, but I think my source is correct. Anyhow, he called some things I said BS. How am I supposed to give a guy respect for calling my opinion BS? I get what you are saying Chris, and I greatly respect you, but Gman crossed my line. I crossed his too, it seems.
I have some experience with debate, and I know that this site isn't facebook or twitter, but I don't think Gman should have called what I believe BS. At that point, respect is thrown out the window.I love being here, but some things just don't go well. This thread is one example.
I've said my piece, and good day to you sir
here's hoping this one can look straight up. Would be ideal for a diorama recreating the now iconic trailer shot. If not it would still be good for the rising out of the water moment.
This topic has become fairly de-railed. Let me clarify a couple things so this back and forth nonsense ends:
@gmkgoji, Firstly, nobody is calling you stupid, but there are several "leaks" floating around the web concerning KOTM. Many of them are wrong. We do have some sources close enough to production that can and have dispelled these leaks. Like it or not, believe it or not, that's reality. It's fine to believe in whatever, but don't get offended or personally attack other members for them trying to convince you of the contrary.
Secondly, GMan is an administrator of this website. He has earned tremendous respect within this site and the G-Fan community and holds the highest rank available to staff of this network. Agree or disagree with him, but you do owe him some respect and to speak to him accordingly. He has contributed extensively to this site alone and continues to be a reputable source for information. I will not tolerate any member on this site, especially my fellow staff to be spoken to the way you have in this thread.
Thirdly, the clickbait comments are so 2014. You're right, haters are gonna hate, but does the opinion of one youtuber (who I have never heard of) weigh at all on the credibility of this site? Not at all.
This is a community and information resource and that is what it shall remain. This isn't Facebook or Twitter where you can throw shade at other people over nonsensical debate. Debate is healthy and debate is encouraged, but it needs to be respectful and considerate. Please remember that and consider that the next time you engage with other members.
Out of all the new Neca figues, this one looks the best.
Gee, Mothra looks tiny compared to Godzilla
I must have this
YES! AMAZING!
I hope NECA will do one.
YES! FINALLY! NO GOD-FORSAKEN GLOSS!
YES! FINALLY! NO GOD-FORSAKEN GLOSS!
Some seem to be forgetting we have a whole movie coming out to help make that bridge. No one is saying mechagodzilla needs to be in kotm, but now the world knows monsters exist how they react brings in the chance of a mecha or cyborg.
Interesting..... so his whole body lights up when using this new version of the atomic breath. I like it!
Have the dorsal plates above the middle of his back always been that big?
I've been looking at the CGI models used thus far, and they don't seem to be as big as represented here. Could this signify a slight change in the CGI model coming up?
AwEsome
I'm going to get that
dam looks like i might have to get sh monsterarts ghidorah
mothra larva looks so happy
Don't know the 2020 film schedule that intimately yet, but I agree that it would be probably wise to push GvK back. FF is a monster franchise that with Jurassic World has kept Universal afloat.
However, KoTM might be a hit so if it gets pushed back it might stay in the summer.
You say that like I and others denied the possibility outright.
We want these stories to go the extra mile to make it work, and that means not rushing in. We don't want monsters like Mechagodzilla and Gigan right now because right now isn't the time, just like how Thanos had to wait until the conditions were met where him taking to the main scene was the logical course of action.
I always says this: put in the effort first before you rush in to the next zany insane thing, ESPECIALLY if you didn't start with the zany insane thing.
Finally, something affordable that doesn't look like the derpy Jakks and Bandai figures.
Hell yeah! That looks awesome. I can't wait to see it on the big screen
Then build the groundwork. The MCU began with a semi-grounded story about a genius able to create world-changing technology and now we have aliens and talking racoons flying around. No one knew it was going to [try to] establish an entire cinematic universe that broke away from the film's established tone even as audiences were watching it. Kevin Feige wasn't even sure they were going to do it and that's after they established the possibility in a post-credit sequence.
It blows my mind that fans of a series that went from 1954 to the insanity of 1965 can't let go and allow it to lead up to something bonkers. It's not like the current tone has particularly delivered the best of the best anyway.
Huh. That Burning- I mean "Fire" Godzilla looks not as bad as I thought.
Shoot.
Gvk will have to battle 2 movies now.
The fast and furious movie and the spongebob movie.
Sounds like Deus Ex Machina to me, G.H.Gman.
Not to mention thematically, narratively, AND logically clashing with the established rules of the universe, at least right now.
I'm always baffled when people don't take such things into consideration. It's not simply the degree of ridiculousness being suspended for disbelief, but the context in which it occurs. When you want to introduce entirely unfamiliar elements, you have to either build them up by laying groundwork or start off with them as the basic premise.
For the Monsterverse right now, they started with the premise of giant monsters hidden in the very real modern world with a few elements of conspiracy organizations. They started expanding that premise, but in logical ways that naturally fit the basic premise with increased variety in the kinds of monsters and the Hollow Earth Theory. And now, they're introducing more new elements that still naturally extend from the basic premise, like these creatures being worshiped as gods and potentially coming from beyond the confines of Earth.
But the famous mechs? No groundwork laid at all. No hints, teases, nothing, to suggest that the universe is gearing up to go all Pacific Rim. Now, could it happen still? Sure, but I'd imagine it'd start slowly with incremental but noticeable technological progress being very obviously shown.
I haven't been following news on 4K/possible 4K restorations for the Godzilla films recently. I know a 4K restoration of King Kong vs. Godzilla aired on Japanese television back in 2016--But after that I haven't heard much. The thing is 4K restorations of older films take a whole lot of time and, considering how expansive the Godzilla series is, doing them all will likely take a few years. (Assuming that's Toho's plan.)
I haven't been very impressed with the KotM merch as a whole--Apart from Monsterarts' figures. (Hopefully NECA can turn that around a little bit too.) So the awful Halloween costumes don't exactly surprise.
Sounds like a wonderful idea. I'm in.
Excuse me but I have forgotten, when is that supposed to come out again?
These are for Halloween costumes I presume? Shrugs, I've seen worse. Far worse.
G. H. (Gman): How do you define what is and what is not "boring". Or are you suggesting having Jet Jaguar popping out suddenly in KOTM to say "hi" is a great idea?
Yes, I noticed their line-up as well. I doubt we'll see anything in June either. I wonder if they're waiting on Toho's 4K restorations first--In which case we may be waiting for home video releases from Janus/Criterion for a very, very long time.
"Like what? Give me evidence"
To be fair I gave you a hint in my first post:
"Many of which are now under strict watch by Legendary/WB after the toy leaks."
I'd prefer not to say any more since they're in enough hot water at the moment and I'm sure they would like to continue working.
The realistic ones. Boring.
