Mothra's fairies!!! I'd be thrilled if we got a cameo at least.
Update: CORRECT SPELLING
Baphomet, Typhoon, Sargon, Leviathan, Bunyip, Abbadon, Methuselah
With these words, Micheal Dougherty promises an epic movie.
It was such a great and clever idea to portray Ghidorah's heads by 3 different actors. Each head having its own mind and personality sounds amazing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's also something we haven't seen that much before, not only in Godzilla, but movies in general.
I Haven't seen mothra that Much
Godzillatheking123,
Me too. It was the same inspiration for the battles in King Kong vs. Godzilla. That's exciting that they're throwing in a more fun, human element to their combat style.
"...the Joker to Godzilla's Batman."
I've used this same comparison between King Ghidorah and Godzilla for years. So happy to see Dougherty do the same.
"If there's any creature among the four you're rooting for it's Mothra."
Love this! Respect for the Queen.
Godzilla's looking a little too low to the ground
So Dougherty is confirming this is a world of giant monsters awakening from their hidden slumber and out to retake the world from persky humans.
And sumo wrestlers fighting-style? Hey, I like that. ;)
The original MechaGodzilla Duology Godzilla: 1974 & 1975
MDK 2 (MinecraftDinoKaiju),
Noriyoshi Ohrai was a Japanese artist that painted all of the Heisei Godzilla posters, as well as the Godzilla x Megagurius, GMK and Godzilla: Final Wars posters. He died in 2015.
Imagine if he were still alive to do one for this movie. He'd blow this bad photoshop out of the water.
Well for some reason I can't see the image, but this guy's custom Ghidorah minifig is pretty nice
Definitely looking forward to Ifukube's theme. If what we heard at Tokyo Comic Con was Godzilla's theme, then I am EXTREMELY hyped for the movie, and I hope that McCreary doesn't disappoint.
^Thank you so much, Lone! Great to talk to you again; it's been a while!
Ive definitely been having a blast with this project. It's been a dream of mine for over a decade, and to finally be doing it is a thrill beyond compare. I've been truly touched by the response it's gotten so far, and I hope these books continue to both entertain and honor the legacy of the films and their creators.
I'm glad you're enjoying what you're reading so far! Feedback and reviews are always welcome. Thank you again for your support and kind words! They truly mean the world to me.
RR44 I know what you mean.
Just speculating, but IF Charles Dance's character IS James Conrad, then MAYBE he wants Godzilla dead and Kong to be king. Real unlikely, but just speculating
PS Congrats on the success of the GNP, I'm working my way through the chapters & your guest podcasts.
Fantastic work!
I don’t know if anyone else remembers this, but Michael Dougherty posted an image of a worm on Twitter around the time they started filming. It had a caption talking about worms apparently mutating in space and returning to earth with two heads.
Has anyone else noticed how they are keeping Charles Dance's character secret ? He's got to be Conrad as an old man. Every actor has a character name but his... www.imdb.com/title/tt3741700/fullcredits
I find that rather interesting. He may be the one who gets Kong and Godzilla to fight each other... or bring them together to fight something bigger and badder than both of them. I would find it hard to believe that Conrad would be a villain in this movie... but if he is... I like to know what turn him that way. Just speculating here.
Goosebumps... MAJOR goosebumps.
I may be half a century old... but when it comes to Godzilla... I'm a child again looking on with awe and anticipation. I have not had this much eagerness to see a movie since Godzilla vs Megalon came out on TV when I was 8 years old... and I was in the Hospital at the time and missed it... and did not see it until I was almost 30 years old. I will not let that happen with this movie... I am taking the day off from work just to ensure that I get a parking spot at the theater. I wouldn't miss this if you offered me $1000.00 and told me I had to wait for it to come out on DVD.
I don't know about the rest of you... but this movie has got me so hyped up... it's like knowing you won the powerball but you haven't got the money from it yet. You know what I'm saying?
Rodan looks totally awesome. Like an eagle... done kaiju style.
While I agree that the monarch ARGO jet is leading rodan to fight Ghidorah, Mothra doesn't appear at all in this scene
Ok, that's fair.
Yeah, sorry. I can't tell. It's hard to know from the angle, but we won't fully know unless that shot is shown in motion.
It's still part of the topic, however. Trust me, if I find the topic is truly deviating I will adjust it or close it myself. :)
I don't follow DMan's videos, so I'm not sure what you're speaking of. I know that a symphonic concert called "Evangelion vs. Shin Godzilla" was held in March of 2017 featuring pieces from both Evangelion and Shin Godzilla, obviously. Crunchyroll confirmed that Ifukube's material was played.
Also of note, Ifukube's score for the original film was completely rerecorded in stereo by Kaoru Wada and released in August of 2016. (No tracks were used in Shin Godzilla, but I own the CD and it is fantastic.)
I'm sorry if this turns out to be a spoiler, but I think Godzilla will get a power boost at some point in the movie, which will cause his dorsal spikes to transform into this "classic" style.
In the latest TV spot, during the intimidation scene, his spikes seem to bear a closer resemblance to their 2014 design. It's a bit hard to tell though, they're being obscured by the water.
G. H. Man you are arguing whether or not it matters if ghidorah is a mutant which is not what the topic is about; the topic is about if ghidorah is a mutant so please let's get back on topic
If that's the case, G. H. (Gman), then what was the footage of the orchestra of the film with them recreating Ifukube's original tracks from the DMan video?
Was it a post-release concert? It looks like it's in a recording room.
It's a debate. It's why forums exist. I don't think you even jump started it.
Look, I'm sorry I started some controversy, but if we could get back on topic, that would be great. Thanks.
Well, besides the one I’ve already mentioned, I wanna hear Sacred Springs, Rodan Theme, and Ghidorah Theme
TheGMan123,
No. Anno confirmed that he had wanted to convert the original Ifukube tracks to stereo, but the process was too painstaking, so they ended up using the mono recordings. (Cinema Today)
Didn't Shin Godzilla's composers actually completely replicate the original Ifukube pieces down to the specific instrumental composition and not use recordings?
I remember that DMan1954 covered that a while back.
