"But what if in the future, we can only watch movies digitally and those movies don't exist now."
We already watch the old movies digitally. It's called DVD, Blu-ray and streaming.
Why?
One of the entire reasons to watch Godzilla is for the style of special effects that was employed at the time. Godzilla is not just the king of tokusatsu, but he is tokusatsu. He's only a pauper to digital effects. Replacing the hard work Tsuburaya, Nakano and their teams put into these movies largely defeats the purpose.
Movies, not just Godzilla films, but every movie, is made for a specific time and audience with a specific style in mind. If you change that, you might as well just make a different movie.
So no. I think George Lucas-ing the Godzilla series is among the worst ideas in the long sad history of bad ideas. Just have kids watch and experience the movies as they are--They're exactly as they're meant to be and they're great.
But what if in the future, we can only watch movies digitally and those movies don't exist now. What then?
RR44,
It's been specifically reported minor reshoots. It lasted less than a week, which was shorter than King of the Monsters' reshoots. Every blockbusters goes through reshoots to pick up shots they realized they needed in the editing room. This is common.
I wouldn't mind, as long as the movie kicks ass.
You're not wrong there.
Monster_Zero 2112 That is kind of his shtick.
Or...we could just show new generations the actual movies as they are in their purest form. Y'know, just a thought.
I think of Ghidorah as a destroyer of worlds.
I agree that the source about the reshoots is iffee... but WB has said they are doing reshoots... but what that involves is pure speculation.
Evet single song you guys think are the best are ABSOLUTLEY the best
TheLazyFish Shin has good music when it's using original scores. But when it's just reusing tracks from older movies, it fell kinda flat for me.
I feel KOTM's score works because it doesn't just flat out copy the old tunes, but adds new spins on them to make them feel new.
madgod longnguyen I think it's just how the poster is colored.
wait a second, picture behind the toys is kong have fire form like godzilla,WTF,but how?
I kinda liked some of the Shin Godzilla tracks a bit more than any of the ones of KOTM, but by a VERY close margin.
Yeah, I think we should try that agreement on these forums as well. We used to do that when we were hyping KOTM, so I guess we just need to get back into the habit.
Back to the OP- If I were in charge of this site... I would make it a rule... no spoilers pics or scripts or video clips... period. Entertaining theories... yes. Thoughts and opinions... yes.
To be fair, as I recall from the Prometheus/Alien Covenant forum, there was a general post put out to label threads with spoiler alerts from Admin since those movies had massive amounts of buzz. It wasn't perfect due to member compliance or noncompliance, but it was put out there and worked pretty well. It only works if everybody abides by the "rule" which is sort of a "gentleman/woman agreement". Entertaining theories and opinions get mixed in with what some discuss in viral videos/trailers etc that are spoilers to some.
"...especially when they are doing massive reshoots due to poor reception at the screenings."
This has not been corroborated and is likely untrue--It comes from a source known for false information. Right now WB is doing minor reshoots at the studio, which is fairly routine for any blockbuster. There has been no confirmation of screenings, though I wouldn't doubt it.
"Yeah. No one can make you do or feel anything. If you ever said " Because he or she made me mad" then that's not right because they didn't make you mad, you made the choice to have that emotion. It's your choices in life than either lead on the path of right or wrong. Wise words from my seventh/eighth grade teacher.'
I am mad by my choice... but not at one particular person... but rather at the irresponsible way in which people pass on information that is supposed to be guarded.
You wouldn't want enemy forces to know the exact location of your NAVY seals... right ?
That would be foolish.
You wouldn't tell a 3 year old child 5 months before his/her birthday exactly what they are going to get and then wrap it up anyway... that's just stupid.
A major motion picture studio like WB should take great care not to ruin the movie for people months ahead of time by allowing a merchandiser to reveal action figures to the public before there is even a freakin' teaser trailer out... and especially when they are doing massive reshoots due to poor reception at the screenings. This movie already has strikes against it. Now I don't know the plot... but... I don't want to know jack diddley about the movie. I like theories and thoughts... but these spoiler leaks are just bad for business. KOM is a great example of that. It wasn't a bust... but it wasn't the huge success that WB was gunning for either. The monterverse may or may not continue... but having a huge spoiler revealed months ahead of the last movie does not bode well for the franchise in my opinion. I may just sit this one out and wait for the DVD. WB makes too many mistakes when it comes to sci fi and adventure flicks (JUSTICE LEAGUE)
GODZILLA 2014 should have had Dougherty from the get go... but WB went the cheap route with Edward's version... and that was a mistake in my opinion. There were not many leaks prior to his film as much as there were prior to the KOM film. I know this is moot but I think my point is valid as is my anger. In the 80's and 90's I never heard of many movie leaks if any at all. But today everyone walks around with a camera on their phone and BOOM... nothing is secret anymore. The footage of Kong and G on a boat... we were not supposed to see that... as it was exclusive to participating audience members at an event in another country... but that did not stop foolish irresponsible individuals from echoing it on twitter and facebook and youtube... ect ect.
Sorry for the rant but it grinds my gears.
Although I'm not a big fan of the movie, I think King of the Monsters is the best Godzilla score since Tokyo SOS. Would more Ifukube have been nice? Sure, but McCreary's themes were robust, plentiful and catchy too--So no complaints. Just using Ifukube's Godzilla theme was plenty--Especially the spin he put on it.
Indeed, makes me doubly disappointed that KOTM didn't get more Ifukube tracks to remaster/remix.
Well, now I'm wondering if this piece has anything to do with Varan's movie...
Yep. This piece initially debuted in another film--Unsurprisingly. Just about all of Ifukube's Heisei material is lifted from the Showa era and thrown in stereo. Not that I'm complaining, it was nice to hear these pieces re-orchestrated.

YEP. That's the one. I knew it had to be in "The Best of Godzilla" soundtracks somewhere.
JurassicKaiju14 true it would affect photosynthesis, however, in the long run, trees and plants survived the Dust cloud caused by Yellowstone erupting and the asteroid impact that Ghidorah rode in on 65 million years ago =). however, hurricanes are very destructive and can destroy civilization if powerful enough. as to sea level, we do not know just how much Ghidorah could affect the weather, in theory, if he can cause hurricanes he can cause blizzards to refreeze the ice caps.
it's likely his creators would not need much control over him as once Ghidorah finishes off a planets titans he would grow bored and leave to its next conquest.
However, how was it Ghidorah ended up frozen in ice and why was a second Ghidorah not dispatched to earth. it could be he was a failed superweapon because it could not be controlled, escaped from its creators and started attacking other planets for sport. a kaiju with freezing abilities caches up with it on earth well it's battling Godzilla and freezes it in ice.
Gomi: Ninja Monster,
I have no doubt you recognize it from another movie.
@TheLazyFish
Oh, I completely agree that there is an overwhelming amount of GvK spoilers out there. It only seems to be footage and leaked images that WB is always taking down, such as the GvK CCXP footage. As for leaked toys, yes that seems to be a problem, since Burning Godzilla was also revealed with Jakks Pacific toys. I guess it comes down to bad marketing on WB's part, such as trailers and toys, because I also agree that Disney / Marvel films don't seem to have that same kind of problem. When it comes to that, yes, WB needs to keep it under control, and changing their marketing could very well change their spoiler problem.

Hmm, upon comparison I see/hear I was definitely off in my initial guess, which now brings up the question of why I thought I recognized that so quickly. Must be triggering something else, more research is needed.
Also, seeing everyone so unanimous about something Godzilla-related is truly beautiful, but I find the lack of appreciation for Crystal from GvsSpaceG, Goodbye Godzilla, and the Hanna-Barbera theme song very disappointing. :P
Godzilla 2014 made me a fan Godzilla is like a second brother to me
[WARNING recent SPOILERS included below]
It usually depends on what kind of "spoiler" it is. The MechaGodzilla thing doesn't bother me too much--I'm pretty sure that would've been revealed in the promotional material at some point anyway.
But how and why MechaGodzilla is in the movie and what happens with it in the story is something I'd prefer to avoid.
You guys are definitely beating around the bush. You're in that neighborhood and of course have the composer down. I'll reveal the answer tomorrow night if no one gets it by then.
JurassicKaiju14
Yeah, that's kind of what I wanted, but Ghidorah being a very, very begrudging anti-hero. More of a villain who you root for, and just so happens to do "good" out of self preservation.
Also, don't forget GMK, where King Ghidorah was actually a GOOD guy, so anything's possible.
TheLazyFish Eh, I don't really see Ghidorah being much of an anti-hero.
Although, a fellow fan elsewhere once suggested a movie where Godzilla and Ghidorah both get mind-controlled by aliens again, but once they're freed they're so ticked off at being pawns that they actually briefly team up to take down the aliens. Then they go back to fighting each other.
Godzilla and Ghidorah in an enemy-of-my-enemy situation. Now that would be fun to see. :)
Honestly, I feel the same way as Jurassic, BUT if they have Keizer Ghidorah or some other, higher level Ghidorah (maybe Desghidorah or a new Ghidorah?), then there might be a way to make a Ghidorah movie. Maybe he becomes an anti-hero, kinda like Heisei Godzilla or Showa Godzilla in Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster. Maybe they DO regenerate him fully and he ends up being another alpha titan, a similar relationship with Godzilla that Kong and Godzilla have. Then, in his movie, a higher up Ghidorah comes down and he spends the movie trying to kill the higher up, barely managing to do so. Then it's hinted that the Ghidorah he just killed was still fairly low rank, and eventually the highest rank will come down with multiple subordinates, and that will be the plot of a future Godzilla film or something. Of course FAR from what I THINK the Monsterverse will do, if they even go past GVK, but it would be a cool direction imo.

I think it's a little bit WB's fault that SO MANY leaks have come out. I mean, you don't even really see this level of thing with Disney or Marvel, some of the most anticipated things in mainstream media. But a Godzilla movie with this many leaks? This is almost unheard of, even with more popular franchises! This is kinda ridiculous! But good on them for trying to get it back under control.
I actually really like this idea. My one problem with it is that it would mean that Ghidorah is once again the pawn of an alien race. I feel his alleged status as a destroyer-of-worlds is negated whenever he's somebody else's pawn, and I liked how KOTM made him the top-dog again. The Anime Trilogy did it too, but I'm not too terribly fond of their version of Ghidorah.
Also, consider the storm MV!Ghidorah generates. If you look at the monitors during Stenz's briefing at Castle Bravo, you can see that it's actually grown. The hurricane over Washington is just the center of all that. So given that his storm would eventually cover the whole planet, you could imagine what that would do to things like, say, sea levels, or photosynthesis, or...you get what I'm saying here?
It certainly was implied how the Titans have the ability to restore nature via their radiation deposits and it was also directly implied that Ghidorah was affecting Earth's atmosphere to suit his needs / environmental requirements. So, I absolutely see this being a possibility.
I would love to see this angle explored in future films. We already have confirmation that Ghidorah is an alien, why not have him be one of many terraforming vehicles for an alien race?
And then... introduce Gigan to the mix! Monsterverse phase 2 - I can see it already!
1. Sounds partly like a slower version of the music that plays during the part where the humans destroy the control gyroscope in Destroy All Monsters. Given Ifukube's tendency to reutilize older work, I'm gonna guess Battle in Outer Space maybe?
2. Akira Ifukube
3. A chase scene? I don't know, I haven't seen that movie.
(a) Let's see, it kinda sounds like Ifukube's Ghidorah theme, so...Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster?
(b) Akira Ifukube.
(c) I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the final battle scene from Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster.
