What I thought, she started out okay in the movie, and did nothing to stop MechaG, and stood there being useless.
They could have pursued the tensions between her and her dad but didn’t
Yeah, Madison's mishandling.
I'd like to see your thoughts on her character in GVK before I share mine.
I like seeing new concepts in the series (I liked Shin Godzilla, and I'm pretty excited for Singular Point), however I feel like the Anime Trilogy really didn't do much with these new concepts. Turning Godzilla into a plant monster was pointless (the most we got was a throw away line about photosynthesis), and as dumb as the idea of "Mechagodzilla City" is, they could of done something interesting and unique with it, but they didn't. But the thing that bugs me the most is that the idea of the Earth completely changing to conform to Godzilla is a really cool idea, and at first it looks like they're going to explore that idea but then they completely drop it and ingnore the idea completely.
As for the themes, it tries to be like 54', but it doesn't seem to get what made 54's theme work, and it mostly seems to not know what it's doing.
Also it's sad that an MMD animation did a better Godzilla Earth vs Ghidorah fight then Polygon and Toho did...
(Now That's What Anime Ghidorah Should've Been!!!)
Now seeing some reasons I don’t like GVK as much?
They really should've focused on Madison. She ended up being the one to save the world, and WB pushed Millie Bobby Brown's character to the front of the marketing to the point she was the face of KOTM's marketing. I was so ticked off when I saw how her character was handled in GVK...
imma not explain my reasoning for thinking Emma was the best character. Mark was a bit annoying for knowing everything. The story overall should have focused more on Madison not mark. Mark had an arc which was great but, the movie really set up to focus on her at the beginning. It would have been more compelling to see her struggle between her moms and dad’s sides of the conflict.
Eh, it was mediocre at best.
But the visuals were good, the humans were mostly decent besides all the comedic characters and Emma Russell.
To me the story in KoTm was better
GVK had a coherent story, great action, fluid visual effects for once, no tonal issues.
But it's human characters are far worse than KOTM.
You guys can't be serious. GVK was WAY WAY better.
Can you PLEASE do your GVK review now?
I agree. But to me the film connected more with the themes of 1954. The arrogance wasn’t really explained until the third film.
I do not agree with the comment made by Seshita, but I didn’t hate it for the “misadvertisement” (not trying to be rude) but I thought it was interesting with these new concepts.
Better Ghidorah fight?
Yeah I think KOTM overall is the better film of the two, but the fact GvK has done so well with so many negative factors playing against its release, it's kind of disappointing to think KOTM couldn't have pulled off better numbers.
That's fine, I personally did not.
I really didn't like the characters (I thought Haruo was annoying and the others were useless), the changes to Godzilla (Why did they make him a metallic plant that barely moved?), the false advertisement (they marketed City on the Edge of Battle as Godzilla fighting Mechagodzilla, only to have Mechagodzilla turn itself into a city and not fight Godzilla, and don't get me started on the Ghidorah "fight"), and I really didn't like the preachiness of the films (I like Godzilla films with deeper messages, but these ones came off as kind of pretentious).
Overall, I thought it was kind of a mess with a lot wasted potential, that really didn't understand Godzilla that well (The people in charge didn't even watch the older films, they thought they were "above it"). Plus the Directors' arrogant comments (mainly Seshita's) on how the story was "Too Complicated" for older fans to understand (implying that fans who didn't like it were dumb) really annoyed me.
I know it has its fans and it's cool that you liked it, but for me they're some of my least favorite movies in the franchise (which is sad because I had high hopes for them and really wanted to like them).
I liked the Anime Trilogy, Not every Goji film is reliant on fighting.
As someone who likes space noodles, I kinda got lazy at the end. The spikes get smoothed out
So, uh, exactly how many times did you watch these credits to notice all this...?
Either way, this does give me more hope for the show. At least the people in charge of it are familiar with the older Godzilla movies and seem to know what their doing.
(Unlike the Polygon Anime Trilogy...)
Pretty small Titan, was probably meant for hollow earth
Also, You said the credits are a different storyline. How literally do you want me to take that?
I noticed some of these too, but not nearly as many characters.
Did you have to slow down parts. Because it moves pretty fast.
G theorist
Transformer Devastator-style Mecha Godzilla would have been cool
Incredible. This is one quality thread, as always GMan. Bravo!
Ayyeee glad a movie can still succeed even during a pandemic.
KoTM is still gonna be my number one movie though, GvK following after.
The thing is, many likely don't notice all of this is going on unless you stop to look for it. I only started to realize how much was really in there every time I caught something new.
Man, that's a lot to put in the credits, especially if it's not part of the show.
wow............ thats alot of s@$t
Nope. The end credits is completely separate of the story in the show.
Damn, That's a lot of easter eggs...
...and you're sure none of these are spoilers?
Might be a bit out-of-place for most Godzilla timelines, but...
Krystalak and Obsidius because I love them very much.
I also am a huge Bagan advocate.
And Vishnu, because his legs kind of look like a tardigrade and I really like tardigrades and a kaiju of one would be badass.
Oh wow, I love the anime space noodle cough Ghidorah one! It's pretty smooth. The Goji picture is cool too.
PFFFFT BWAHAHAHAHA
Also, RIP Jordan Vogt-Roberts' beard.
masterpiece
in case anyone doesn't find the hidden titans, here's the full list:
Godzilla
Kong
Ghidorah
Mothra
Rodan
MechaGodzilla
Skullcrawler
MUTO
That's all....
At least it shows that people want more. It may seem a little silly, but people are showing their support for something they enjoy, and the fact that the studio is acknowledging it shows that it's working.
In all seriousness though, this is really well made poster.
