Exactly! I totally agree with the new Star Trek movies having their own spin off of the old theme so Godzilla 2014 could very well do the same. I checked the link and I can live with that song but it's not quite as iconic and mood setting as the old one in my opinion. The music is almost too subtle but that's just me. Maybe I'm just too picky...idk :/ I'm sure the score for the movie will be suitable and great though

Godzilla have allies but his most Loyal and trusted ally is Anguirus. Godzilla is Batman and Anguirus is Robin - King Ceaser, Manda, Gorosaurus, Rodan, Mothra, Jet Jaguire and even Varan have been Big G's allies but the most loyal by far has been Anguirus hands down. As for the other side I think that Gigan and Orga would make a cool team to oppose big G but Ghedorah is quite awesome too - any incarnation between those 3 is pretty cool indeed.

New Monsters are a really good thing but I also like some of the origional creations too - maybe Anguirus, Baragon, Manda, Gigan or Ghedorah updated and reimagined with some brand new Kaiju. Sort of mix some of the old with some new but I dont think we will see mass Kaiju in the 2014 kickoff - The mass Kaiju will come in the second installment or sequel themed after "Destroy All Monsters". Lord I hope the 2014 one does well enough for the sequel to get made - with LOTS of Kaiju in it. The first one will be closely comparitive to the 1954 Gojira but updated - so "ANY" extra kaiju is like the bonus plan, and they said that there will be Monster(S) so that is just freaking awesome!

He died in the 1st one which was approiate but I hope they find a way to give hime some life - maybe as the credits roll lol - It would be cool thus getting us psyched up for the new updated sequel themed after "Destoy All Monsters" It would be very cool!

My thoughts are that we may begin to see a trailer around the time the next installment of "The Hobbit" saga hits theaters. That makes some sense to me but i wish there was a trailer out now!!!

No one said that the ifekube theme should be prominently featured over Alexander Desplat's score, just that it would be nice to hear a modern renditioning of it and who's to say Mr Desplat won't make his own version of that score? And why not? If the new Star Trek films can have their own version of the classic intro theme then this new Godzilla film certainly can have it's own version of Akira Ifekube's score. In fact, concidering that TOHO studios has taken active part in making the film, it could very well be possible that Gareth Edward will get Akira Ifukube himself to work on a version of the "March" theme suitable for this film while Alexander Desplat works on the main score. A wild and hopeful geuss, sure, but still a possibility.

Unfortunately my guess is that it will not be shown in front of Gravity. In my opinion it is still too early. I'm just like all you guys and I am dying to see a trailer and believe the earlier they release the trailer the more people we can get interested to come see the movie. Hopefully since Pacific Rim, it will draw a bigger audience. But, my reasoning for the trailer lies behind what I just watched today. the trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug just dropped today and the movie is set to show in theaters on December 13th. Now thats barely over 2 months time between the trailer and the when the movie will start playing. I know there are different companies involved with Godzilla 2014 compared to the Hobbit and I hope marketing would drop the trailer earlier than 2 months before the actual showing.

That's actually a good point. Like I said, I haven't really gotten into anime, but it just confused me as to why that never happened. However, I don't think they necessarily need to make the main character befriend Godzilla. It can be something like the main character trying to survive an encounter with Godzilla. Not like an anime series, but maybe a movie (Like Spirited Away). But I do see where you're coming from with the having to pay tons of money to license Godzilla and to keep it from being misused.

I've actually thought this when i was younger and I've been able to come up with 2 possible reasons. Now I don't watch anime very often, i've only seen the 1s that have gotten popular in the US and a few that got licensed and put on youtube so this may be an incorrect, uneducated view. I think the main reason is the storyline. Most animes that I've seen and from what i understand is a very common anime concept is random guy finds something powerful gets thrown into a world that he's not used to and is forced to be a part of it because of the power, info, ect that he gained in usually the first episode, and this wouldn't really work with a godzilla story, unless they catered widely to a younger audience and had godzilla befriend said main character. So i think a story for godzilla would be very difficult to come up with from an anime standpoint unless they were just going for the monster of the week plot in which case the american godzilla did that very well. The second reason i could come up with is that toho would have to license godzilla to an anime company and either let the company come up with it's own story and possibly misuse the character, or pay the company a lot to basically make a 20 episode anime rehash of the movies that have come out which would somewhat be a waste of money as i'm sure godzilla movies are much easier to come by over there than in the US and other countries. Those are the main reasons I could come up with, besides toho just only wanting godzilla be be in movies for the time being.

I think the bug creature will be used to make Godzilla look even more massive, but I'm pretty sure that the "main" monster Godzilla will be fighting is going to be scarier than hell, and tougher than Godzilla, not much tougher, just enough to keep us on the edge of our seats in the movie theater. I don't think the main monster is going to be an insect. I really don't. Probably a mutated reptile of some sort, like a jab at the 98 film. Instead of an iguana, maybe a Komodo dragon with strands of g cells or something.

Morgan Freeman. Not a doubt. That'd be epic. On a serious note, if you'd be able to bring people back from the dead, I'd say Marlon Brando. The man was a damn good actor, and he'd be very good at pulling off someone of authority.

my favorite godzilla film would have to be the 1st one. it just had a good story and a strong, powerful message behind it all.

Well,either they use those original compositions,or pay homage to it in an unexpected and creative manner. The main idea either way is that these pieces have to remain the prime influence on how the musical score plays out.

I wouldn't put my money on it. Not a penny. Not because I hate it, I love it, but because Akira Ifukube is not a part of the production, and they've already got a really good composer. It'd be a waste of a good sum of money not to use him. I think it'd be cool, but I just don't see it actually happening.

I would personally add Christopher Plummer, to the film. He would be exceptional especially since he was trained in Shakespearean acting.

I completely agree and @samzilla14 I wouldn't argue with an ending like that and they better not kill the big guy off either. But back to the topic, the theme just enhances the movie and mood in my opinion and I will be disappointed for sure if it isn't in there in some sort of way. I know G.E. wants to pay tribute to Godzilla's roots and I think this would be one way to do it (even though the march theme didn't premiere till Godzilla vs King Kong I think?)

Oh don't you start telling me you have any better ideas as to how the film should be marketed just to hide the fact that you are acting out on impatience like everyone else. You don't work for Legendary or WB or have anything to do with the movie business in general, no one here does so quit trying to speculate how films should be promoted. But to answere your point, not showing a trailer may not be a positive but neither is showing a trailer too soon, as has been established over a 100 times by people who have a better understanding of the issue then you and me. What was shown at the comic-con was specifically meant for the comic-con attendance, beyond that absolutely no promises were made. So please, just buckle down and be patient. When all is said and done we WILL get a film in the end.

Getting ahead of themselves? How, there's, as I said, no positive to not showing a trailer. You can show a teaser to give the people waiting for it a glimpse of what's to come, and the people who have no idea what it is a chance to get excited for it. There have been multiple things around godzilla shown at the past comic con so it's not like they have nothing there, they just haven't shown it. Hell even at the 2012 comic con there was some preview so why not show the general public something, or are the people who don't have work, school, live near comic con just so much more important than those of us who can't travel across the country to see 1 teaser? Sorry but this is an all around foolish decision on legendary's part. When there was a small teaser available over a year ago to those who went to comic con, and a year later those who haven't gone have still seen nothing but that leaked on the internet. Could this be an overused topic? of course but if anything that just shows how unjustifiable this is to the fans that nothing has been shown to us, it's not whining(well the way this thread's worded it is) but a point questioning why.

This is pretty much how I envision Godzilla's ending: all the main cast(or whats left of them) taking a moment to contemplate just what the coming of Godzilla really signifies, then the camera pans up Godzilla's massive frame and then we get the "DUUUUUUNN, DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUUUN DUUUUUUNNN" etc ending with Godzilla giving a massive roar to the heavens then it cuts right to the credits with the "March" theme. That for me would be the pinnacle of awesomeness!

Hopefully they will include it. It has a way that it works with the beginning of epic moments as well as the sad ones so there are a lot of different scenes it could be put in, especially if they are going for realistic and will have a lot of aftermath scenes. It's too iconic to leave out completely but i have a bad feeling they will try to update it to see it with a new soundtrack or promote a new composer. Hopefully not though

How many times has it been discussed here that it's in Legendary and WB's best interest to not get ahead of themselves with marketing the film? Isn't it enough that we're actually going to get a Godzilla film since that clusterfuck in 98? Or is everyone running out of topics to talk about in the meanitime. Godzilla vs Zilla. The zilla from the animated series spawned from the 1998 godzilla movie that didn't suck hard, not the poor excuse for a monster that appeared in the final wars. To be fair I'd like a lot of the fights from final Wars to happen but actually respect the monsters that are in them(not just a super strong godzilla vs a super weak counterpart to the monster he's supposed to be fighting.) Godzilla vs king ceasar would be a good fight, but he never once reflected godzilla's beam, instead just played soccer with him using anguirus as the ball. I'd also like to see Space godzilla vs mechaG but since mechaG was supposed to team up with godzilla originally to take him down I'm guessing space godzilla would win.

Its hard trying to wait patiently for what could be the rebirth of the king of monsters (Godzilla) that we all remember from the early days to be released in theaters let alone the very first trailer that has yet to be shown, and i know this movie will do all Godzilla fans (including myself) justice.

I think the final boss should be a little bit stonger then godzilla, I mean come on guys give the king a challenge.

I would have to go with the first movie that started it all for me. Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla: Final Wars, the return of the Xilans was amazing.

Godzilla wasn't sick in GvD. He was actually stronger than he's ever been; so strong to the point even his body couldn't take his power and was melting down because of it. Had godzilla fought in any other state than the 1 he was in that movie he would have stood no chance vs destroyah. As for mechaG not killing godzilla in the heisei. Godzilla was paralyzed, and getting shot, had rodan not sacrificed himself godzilla was going to die. But to the topic on hand about king ghidorah; he's only died 2 times(not counting GMK as that wasn't king ghidorah that was varan in a king ghidorah suit that the studio put him in not for plot point, but to make money) and 1 time it was from all the earth monsters basically gang banging him and the other they had to go back in time and use a nuclear sub to make godzilla bigger and stronger than he had been before, and he was still losing till the controls for king ghidorah were destroyed.

We dont know! How would we know? If we knew it, the info would be every where, everyone would be talking about it, if there is no info stated here, chances are we dont know. And it doesnt matter how many times people keep asking. We can guess and hope, but it stops there. Im sorry if sound like an asshat, but we just dont know and it doesnt help asking us.
