@ZODGILLA, this is what I was trying to explain in the post. I fully agree with you. He is a creature, not something like the Hulk lol

Looking at amazon image, it looks rather, off. Like the texture between the head and body are totally different. So is the shade of black. It is as if the head was glued on top lol. I mean, it looks ok..I just hope his final design isn\'t that one. But that's just me. He can look like whatever, as long as its not an overgrown iguana look, I'll be happy with the movie.

@ AKIO123 - The Amazon image leak was not a photoshop. Where you got that idea or heard that rumor is beyond me, but it was not a photoshopped image. It was an entirely different image all its own.
How do I know? I have the Brazilian head shot sitting right next to me and I have compared it extensively to the Amazon leak and there are some key differences to note between them. None of which involve photoshop skills.
First, there is a small ridge of spikes running along his neck in the Brazilian shot that lines up with his cheek, but in the Amazon leak it\'s lined up instead with his lower jaw. There are more spines in the Brazilian shot, and fewer in the Amazon leak and they are not the same shape between the two shots. Godzilla\'s \"gills\" in the Brazilian shot are smaller and flare out a bit more than the Amazon leak which appear to be flatter and a bit wider and extend farther beneath the throat than the Brazilian shot.
The lighting is different between the two shots and you can see more of a Heisei inspired segmented section in the scales of his throat in the Amazon leak which is not present at all in the Brazilian shot. The angle of the throat in the Brazilian shot is going straight down, but in the Amazon leak it\'s going down and forward to match the leaning pose Godzilla has taken. And finally, the coloration of the two are both different between shots. In the Amazon leak, Godzilla\'s head is more of a grayish tone while in the Brazilian shot it\'s more of a deep indigo blue coloration,
Keep in mind that these are artist renderings, not finalized and fully realized CGI shots of what he\'ll look like on screen.
Again, I don\'t know where you heard that it\'s a photoshop, but it\'s not. Rumors are not facts my friend, so don\'t take them as fact if you haven\'t confirmed it for yourself beyond the shadow of a doubt. Taking someone else at their word, especially a disgruntled Godzilla fan, is always a mistake.
@ XXSABERBLACKCROW/TRUE AMERICAN GODZILLA -
We don\\\'t know what cities he will attack, period. Filming took place in Hawaii, but from the reports and articles it appears that Hawaii was a substitute for Japan. We know that part of the film will be set in 1954, and that may very well be where we see the Hawaii set footage.
But outside of San Francisco (which is also nothing but a glorified rumor that is being taken as fact right now), we have absolutely zero confirmation on any other cities that will be in the movie.
ReplyTrue American GodzillaGodzilla 2014 ForumDoes anyone have any idea how tall Godzilla will be?Nov 24, 2013
@XXSABERBLACKCROW: Right now we don't know exactly what other cities Godzilla is going to attack. We know Godzilla will be at Hawaii, but we don't know what city/cities in the Hawaiian Islands. All I know for California is San Francsico. I'd love to compare other cities skyscraper heights to further get an idea on the American Godzilla's height. However, until we know for fact what other cities I can't really check.

This is a non-debate...
Godzilla will be a monster; a huge creature that is a threat to the entire world, who behaves like an angry animal, not some intelligent, reasoning being. The whole hero/antihero concept doesn't apply to a more realistic film like this one...

It's not the best Godzilla film, but it surely isn't the worst.
It's just a summer blockbuster. I love how people can point out things like bad effects, characters, and storyline, but is that not a big problem with a HUGE amount of Godzilla movies in general?
Looking at it unbiased it's a good monster film and a decent Godzilla movie, definitely not the best, but not the worst either.
Replygtbetta35Godzilla 2014 ForumPart of Godzilla to be set in 1954Nov 24, 2013
Awesome! This means the Godzilla we see would have been around for a long time evolving and becoming so big! Leads me to believe during 1954 a nuclear breakout happened in Japan, the radioactive and rundown fishing village (Bryan Cranston's character is studying) being one of the places where fallout was the worst, now 60 years later this being rises up from the marshlands of the fishing village to unleash its terror. I'm almost positive Cranston is the first character to see the monster.

Most of you cannot properly critique the film since you're obviously too biased towards Japanese Godzilla films. This movie came out when I was 4 years old and I absolutely LOVED the design and the storyline. It was then when I wasn't able to realize the films faults (same with the Japanese versions as I already at that time had a huge Goji film collection). Now that I am 19 and have seen all of these films as I've gotten older time and time again,, they both (American and Japanese versions) have incredible amounts of obvious and laughable faults. I still to this day enjoy ZILLA more than some of these Godzilla films. Most of you complain that this ZILLA strays too far from the roots of Godzilla yet in many versions of godzilla we see him dancing, flying, jumping up and down etc.. ZILLA has heart, it's funny, it's stupid, it's tear jerking (yes I cried like a baby the first hundred times I saw it) and just an overall fun movie to watch. It's not class, but then again half of the Godzilla films are even worse! I honestly feel bad for you if you can't sit down and actually enjoy ZILLA.

I\'ve been trying to answer that question myself. I have been going over the 2012 SDCC leaked trailer, but thus far haven\'t been able to see anything in there to really give us a clue on size.
The only clues I know of are the following...
1: Edwards stated that this Godzilla will be bigger than any other version and although tall it would be able to hide behind buildings if needed.
2: I looked at the skyscrapers in San Francisco and they range from 400\'-853\'.
3: The tallest Japanese Gojira is 328\' tall.
Based on these facts, I theorize that America\'s Godzilla will be within the 500\' range. However, until we can see something official to help us out we won\'t know for sure.
I\'m in hopes for the December 13 trailer will offer a clue to solving the question \"How tall will Godzilla be?\"
On a side note, this is my 100th post!!! :)

KAIJUSAURUS is right, our Godzilla is a "force of nature". In this movie it's an anti-hero, that's confirmed. Now that "force of nature" could, in a future movie, work in favor for us.

Haruo Nakajima was the suit actor. He played Godzilla from the first movie through Godzilla vs. Gigan before retiring.
They pulled him up with wires to get him to jump so high. If you look closely at it on DVD you can barely make out the wires behind him.

@KYERO, You need to relax. I did not say I wanted him to be a hero. I am simply stating I want him to be more animal-like. It is my opinion. Deal with it. I respect yours, However Im not going to be rude and say you're"wrong" and that your thoughts are, "pointless" Geez. If this post bothered you so much, why waste your time and comment? @GODZILLASAURUS, I hear about there being 2 monsters, then I hear about the insect like creatures, I have no idea lol guess I'll have to wait. I'm hoping there's a monster just as big and powerful as Godzilla. @INCREDIBLE FULK, hmm, I like your point of view. Thank you for that :)
ReplyKyeroGodzilla 2014 ForumWill Godzilla be a hero?Nov 23, 2013
My thoughts as a G-Fan?
I think you're wrong to wish for him to be a hero because he was created to be a metaphor for the horrors and the evils of the Atomic Bombing of Japan. He was, in all technicality, a villain to start. A menace to the world rather than simply a force of nature. And I'm talking about the original 54', not the '56 American adjusted version with Raymond Burr.
And my thoughts as an observer in these postings and debates?
This post of yours was absolutely pointless. Plain and simple. Godzilla has been confirmed to be an anti-hero. A force of nature which takes no sides and shows neither sympathy nor animosity towards the human race. To say that you don't want him to be an anti-hero says that you don't want this movie to be made at all because guess what? He's been confirmed as an anti-hero.
If you're going to post something like this as a means to start a debate, at least do so on information that is either yet to be confirmed or construct it in a way that doesn't challenge or undermine what is already true about the film.
Godzilla's an anti-hero in this movie.
Deal with it.

Depending on what monsters he fights in this movie, this is unknown so far. As of now, the only other monster that we know for sure will be in the movie is that insect thing, and that didn't even come up to Godzilla's knees. Unless the other mystery monster is huge and powerful, Godzilla will likely be a full-on antagonist. But again, we do not know what the other monster is yet.
ReplyKing_of_ZombiesGodzilla 2014 ForumWill Godzilla be a hero?Nov 23, 2013
I think in the movie, the humans will be the bad guys, burning the sky, contaminating the sea, killing whales and stuff, Godzilla is just the plague exterminator, who comes to save our planet from ourselves.

The 1998 G.I.N.O was a disgrace to the Godzilla franchise, There was nothing similar or remotely related to the original. But I will say this the story was good and the creation was of the Kaiju was meh. I honestly think that if the movie wasn't named Godzilla and they threw another Kaiju in there then the movie would have been a success

There is a lot of good reasons;
1: Godzilla didnt appear in this movie.
2: Instead there that iguana godzooky creature. I mean, Zilla/godzooky are there any difference? They cant fight for shit.
3: Maria Pittilo. At this point need i say more?

1. There's no way of knowing how high we'll bounce in the air, though it is a rather amusing thought.
2. Who knows what his breath will smell like, but I doubt it will smell like fish.
3. Nuclear blasts do not directly emit an EMP. Rather, the effect of the blast screws with the Earth's ionosphere and causes fluctuations in most electromagnetic fields which carry a current and thus it has a minor EMP effect. This is only really noticeable near electronics, but I doubt that the movie will go this far in depth with it. If they do, then that'll be awesome, but I doubt it.

THE "MONSTER" DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE BEING CALLED ZILLA, ITS A DISGRACE TO TOHO. IT WAS A STAIN ON THE AMAZING MOVIE SERIES THAT IS GODZILLA! ITS WORSE THAN HEDORAH'S TOXIC SLUDGE MIXED WITH EBIRAH! Honestly I'd rather Godzilla be an anti-hero. I don't think it's a smart idea to make him a flat out villain at this point. Remember GMK? While I like that film, it tried to make Godzilla the ultimate evil. But it "failed" in a way cause most people who saw it ended up rooting for Godzilla when he fought the 3 monsters. The audience WANTS to root for Godzilla. But they want to fear him at the same time. A role I can compare it to is the T-Rex in Jurassic Park. The T-Rex was a dangerous animal that remained a threat, but ended up being the "hero" when it "saved" the characters from the bigger threat at the time which was the Raptors. The best take of Godzilla would be in some of the 90's G films like Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah and vs. Destroyah. He was still a danger to mankind, but ended up being the lesser of two threats. Does Godzilla need to be a superhero like in vs. Megalon? No, not like that. But personally, I prefer the anti-hero take. Nether good or bad, he just is what he is.
ReplyTrue American GodzillaGodzilla 2014 ForumThe future of Kaiju moviesNov 22, 2013
I think the future kaiju films will draw inspiration from the success of the 2014 Godzilla. So 'realism' would be a central theme in each of the new Kaiju Genre movies.

@KEVIN_C_VANG: With the 1998 Zilla as a teacher, I think it's safe to say that this movie won't be a "disaster" as you call it. Though having our new Godzilla step on a "NIGEL" would be neat to see.
ReplyTrue American GodzillaGodzilla Forumwhy is zilla 1998 so bad?Nov 22, 2013
I personally loved the movie. Despite not being Godzilla, the overall movie is fun and entertaining. The creature is still a cool monster design and the 1st attempt at a \"realistic\" Godzilla.
Now why people dislike the 1998 Zilla is (in my opinion)...
1: Zilla's behavior is opposite to Gojira's. It only really went after the humans with a vengeance was when her nest had been bombed.
2: Physically it's also an opposite to Gojira. It's not physically powerful as compared to Gojira (even a similarly sized Gojira to Zilla).
3: The breath weapon of Zilla was more of a heat ray that ignited flammable stuff that being Nuclear.
I'm glad to see that, in a way, Zilla got to give a few things to her replacement...
1: Cool design that's not seen in the classic/traditional Gojira. Even the bottom jaw of the 2014 Godzilla seems similar to the 1998 Zilla bottom jaw design (which offered a more 'powerful' set of jaws when you look at it).
2: Prove that one's spirit must be strong to really be a powerful and long lasting monster (unlike the 1998 Zilla's spirit).
3: Give America a real monster in the "American Godzilla vs Japanese Gojira" battle [Would really change the outcome of Final Wars ;) ]
