"The last word on the '98 movie"
Yeah... Right...
A couple sequels? No, take a look at hollywood from that timeframe. Sure now anything that's popular gets sequels shot out as fast as possible, but name 2 movies from the late 90s that had more than 1 sequel, not counting the star wars prequels, and give the sequels 7 years that tristar held the name. Wasn't as common back then, so yes saying, Oh we've waited so long because of the 1998 movie is speculation. There was a follow up godzilla within a year so that's 2 movies. Unless the 1998 movie was a groundbreaking hit. Not just successful, but record breaking would we have seen a series out of it, there's also more to it than if it's successful. There's more than just box office that decides if sequels are made, and even more to say a series.
I feel the only good thing that came from the movie was the great animated series! The series actually gave the fans what they wanted; atomic breath, monster vs. monster (Godzy is no cowardly lion in this show), some decent laughs with a annoying robot getting destroyed in hilarious ways and pretty decent eco-stories/cast etc...
Is it me, or are the feet looking a little more like the traditional G feet?
I'm in agreement with Duratok. The M.U.T.O. creatures are definitly the reason the Big G has surfaced, but to be their prey... I'm not sure.

I like this guy. Makes a solid point.
However, I do not think it was because of Zilla's movie that we had to wait so long. I believe it is more because of Toho's high price to use Godzilla in movies and the overall negative-ish meaning behind the character itself.
That's just my opinion. Taking your stuff into account, the overall negative reaction to Zilla may very well have been the reason. Nothing can be really proven.
The back of the box on the Jakks Pacific figure seems to confirm this. It mentions that Godzilla has been forced to resurface after millions of years because of the threat of an ancient enemy.

As cool as it would be to see a new MechaGodzilla, I feel like Jaegers are inferior in most aspects to any other kind of towering-mechanical robot-suit(?) I've come across.
I mean, they only peak at 280 feet tall, whereas the new Godzilla peaks at 350 feet. Though it might seem minor in terms of fiction and what-not, this is science-fiction we're talking about. That, added on to Godzilla's overall mass and the fact that most Jaegers are nuclear powered, you're just sending the Big G a buffet.
This is flipping awesome! I still love the first T.V spot better though, however this one comes very close! :D

I hope we will see a last one tv spot which we see the muto and godzilla starring at each ofther something like that and then a break
that whould be the best last scene before the movie comes out

I'm goina go with it's the military attacking him on the bus scene and it's on the Golden Gate Bridge... speaking of which, TERRIBLE idea trying to attack Godzilla from the Golden Gate Bridge!!! That's just asking to have your forces wiped out!

I like Zilla, but i call the 1998 movie a parody because some scenes look a little funny, especially when Zilla falls while chasing Nick Tatopoulos but i was sad when the monster died. This beast looks more like an iguana or a modern T-rex than the true King of Monsters.
Godzilla flipped GINO and Trespasser the bird with this one.
Godzilla is taking missiles and gunfire as if they're nothing. This destruction scene here seems way better then Trespasser's destruction scene, and this is only just a trailer.
That was the best one yet! If only it was in HD!

Legendary has rights to use Godzilla, they purchased the rights, it's not ripping off. You guys aren't really informed about this are you?
Maybe in the next one they will show more of the Hokmuto.
I wouldn't mind 4 right off the bat. I love how they're building up supsense but teasing us with Godzilla.
Perfect marketing tactic for this film.
