@Something Real- Haha, yes indeed it would be.
"I have an army"
"We have a Godzilla"
That is my response to Loki. The Avengers is an awesome movie, but Godzilla is going to be more awesome!
You need lights and colors for the kids in the audience man. Look at Pacific Rim.
S.H. MonsterArts hands down.
@Something Real
Man, San Francisco is starting to become the new New York City of giant monster flicks!
Man, I always found Godzilla terrifying, but in an awe-inspiring manner, ironically. Because I fear him, I respect him. You can't really get much better than that. Though, to be fair, being an immortal giant that defies one's perception of the natural world has that effect on people.
Destoroyah-X nailed it right on the head.
I myself have asked several people this question, by giving them a little survey;
What is the best way to kill a Kaiju, aka, Giant Monster?
Most common answer was a Jaeger.
What would you do if, as a military leader, you were put in charge of defending a city from Kaiju?
Most common answer was to build a wall with bombers on stand-by. Nuke it if all else fails.
Now, what would you do if there was a Kaiju that, no matter what you did, couldn't die?
Most common answer was that a creature like that is impossible. There's always a way to kill it.
What if I told you there IS a Kaiju that can't be killed?
Most common answer was that they'd find a way to kill it.
As I said, Destoroyah-X nailed it on the head. I never mentioned Godzilla's name, to avoid this response-> Gypsy Danger would kill Godzilla in 5 seconds. Ha, yeah. Right. I suppose your lunch can kill you in 5 seconds, too?
Godzilla the best :D
I'm going to get the S.H. Monsterarts G2014. I love the articulation and detail given to us in the line.
I think he has a life span of at least 100 years.
Argeed, Superhero movies are all the same and overrated. Sadly, im one of those people who love the superhero genre. I think my top 7 favourite movies are superhero movies.
:(
That is the exact price I paid for mine each.
Maybe do a 'Best' as well as a 'Worst'???
I dunno, I feel like if you don't know much about the franchise, there is little point to writing a list of any kind.
Simply because 'best' and 'worst' is really subjective, especially when it comes to Godzilla movies. You say that you don't want the list skewed to your tastes, but everyone's list will be skewed to taste one way or another.
Some people enjoy the campier films, others prefer the more serious ones. Some can't shake the bias of the Godzilla films they grew up on in particular. Some prefer movies based on which monsters they like the best, or sort their preferences based on the amount of stock footage used. Others have preferences based on suit design and/or combat style, while for others the plot is what matters to them the most. Most use their own unique personal combination of factors to develop their preferences.
In this way, I don't think you could come up with a 'universal' hated list because the preferences will always skew it.
So since preferences always skew it, any article written can/will/should be based on preferences. It's inevitable.
And if you don't know the franchise, it would be difficult for you to have/talk about preferences.
So lacking preferences, you really lack an article. A poll perhaps...you could do a poll, or a survey......but an article seems silly.
I think Vegas is simply from a different MUTO.
Probably the 8-legged one that can't fly perhaps? Walks from Vegas to San Fran....while the winged one flies from Hawaii to San Fran, Godzilla swims the whole way...
They all meet up at Golden Gate and PARTAY!!!! :-)
For me the first teaser with the halo jump was one of the best, because it is so atmospheric and scary, the music and so on.
And at the end Godzilla rising out of the destroyed city!
The first time I've heard the new (old) Godzilla Roar <3
In that case I personally wish to have no part of it. It skews a little to close to representing the franchise past as a black mark that the new movie has to fight back from.
I'm reminded of when the 2009 Star Trek was released, and some outlets tried to stereotype Trek fans who were upset with the shift in direction of the franchise. They used the vocal minority of disappointed fans and [poor] examples of past Trek movies to illustrate a false interpretation of how bad they were in comparison to the new movie.
I don't presume that's your intent and I apologize for being a bad sport, but I don't care to partake in something that could be skewed to represent the franchise poorly. Best of luck and care with your commentaries however.
@Frognation - Good that you came up with this topic.
Though I would very much like to agree that indeed there is more cause for us to be fearful or terrified of Godzilla given it's immensity and disastrous impact, somehow we wonder why Godzilla strikes less fear or panick than those horror films that depict demonic possessions or supernatural entities? The reason stems from the very arrogance of humans (us) ourselves.
Till today, Mankind has remained unchallenged and has emerged the apex predator of Earth, with the ability to decimate or to save entire species of animals. You will see that there are tonnes of people out there who view themselves as a superior breed that shows no respect for wildlife or the abilities of animals because of our technological superiority, intellect and weaponry. It's the survival of the fittest they say. They view themselves as entitled to feed on and to leech the resources of the Earth without consequence.
As such, if anything is viewed as a pest, just simply kill it. Ask any person out there about this new Godzilla movie, and you will observe most of them would say things like, " I wonder how is Godzilla gonna get killed " or " the humans are gonna kill him anyway".
Strangely, nobody said anything about co-existing or respect. It all boils down to the human mindset. As long as it's not human, there's always a sure way to kill it, after all we are superior. That's the kind of thinking you get from most people out there. So in the end no matter how fearsome a creature is, people would readily dismiss it as merely cinematic entertainment, and would rather choose to fear something closer to themselves.
There is also a reason why people make movies like Godzilla. To remind people of their arrogance and the need to show some bit of respect to nature.
The Wondercon footage has music of very similar style and works perfectly. Similar to some stuff from Jurassic Park.
@SOMETHING REAL - My apologies lol. And I'm glad you enjoyed reading my points.
Im actually excited to see him attack vegas theres lots of people to stomp on their.
