MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 1:13 PMI haven't looked around the web for the Godzilla soundtrack because I heard there are MAJOR spoilers in the title names. But, while looking through my email today, Fandango gave me a free download to one of the songs on the soundtrack. Anyone else receive something similar?

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 3:12 PMIt is a promotional thing to get people to pre order the tickets. And if you do not mind what is the title of song you received

AdminGodzillaApr-22-2014 4:42 PMYes it was established awhile ago that Fandango is giving out the first track to the soundtrack if you pre-order tickets from them.
@Philizawa
It's real and it's the opening track of the film.

Why? It's an awesome track.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 5:02 PMoh shit that terrible news. Sounds like a song from Batman & Robin or something. The most generic 90's styled movie soundtrack I've heard in a long time, it might as well been in the 98 Godzilla movie. That song goes against the whole tone that's been set up by the trailers... I really hope it works in context to the movie but it's soo bland I can't see how it would make it better.

AdminGodzillaApr-22-2014 5:12 PMI don't understand this. The music sounds great to me. Maintains the modern sensibilities, but does something most score pieces don't do these days: Use large orchestral instruments and unpredictable changes for a more sonic piece of music.
And what's wrong with 1990s style soundtracks? Jurassic Park, Independence Day, Crimson Tide, Batman Returns, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Apollo 13, Hook, Stargate, Braveheart, Star Treks VI-VIII, The Shadow, The Mummy and Starship Troopers all have scores that blow most of the last decade out of the water.
And from the leaked Wondercon footage, Desplat's sound for this movie does work.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 5:15 PMYeah, that definitely was the track that I got, the title it shows is, "Godzilla!".

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 5:33 PMWell just because it's classical instruments doesn't mean it's good. And all the chances in the music is predictable because it sounds like a really generic Danny Elfman score. And I didn't say all 90's soundracks are bad I just said it sounded like a generic 90's soundrack like Batman & Robin, hell even the opening to this godzilla track is taken from Batman.
I hope it gets better because if this is what they chose to be the opening track and set the tone of the movie I don't know what to think anymore. When I saw the first teaser from comic-con I was happy that they used the soundtrack from 2001 and even if they later changed the tone on the trailers from the first official one to the latter ones it still had the same music and when they used Stars Of The Lid I was happy to because that's great emotional music but this?.... I have no idea what's coming.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 5:49 PMI'm fine with opinions and all, but you're stating it as if it was fact.
All the Godzilla movies used this kind of music!

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 5:56 PMI found it creepy. Trust me, wen it's on with people screaming, buildings shattering, turtles having sex, its definetely gonna fit.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 5:57 PMNo it's all just my opinion and I don't want to come across as an asshole but it's hard when you try and say why you don't like something because you'll always come across as a hater.
But I don't feel at all like Akira Ifukebe ever used anything like this in any Godzilla movie. I really love Akiras soundtrack and even in the more campy movies it sounded like he at least took the music seriously.
I haven't seen the wonder-con footage because I don't want to spoil the movie too much so I don't know what the music sounds like there I only have this to go on but I really hope it gets better because the music is what made alot of the older movies great.

AdminGodzillaApr-22-2014 10:37 PMThe Wondercon footage has music of very similar style and works perfectly. Similar to some stuff from Jurassic Park.
