I'm concerned.
To be fair I'm concerned about Godzilla: King of the Monsters as well--I like Dougherty a lot and he's saying all the right words, but sometimes I get a, "too good to be true" feeling from him.
With Wingard we have an inconsistent storyteller with obvious directing talent, so I can only hope the screenplay is iron clad. Aside from his last two favorite Godzilla movies, I'm okay with what he could potentially draw inspiration from. Ultimately we just don't know if it will work yet.
Wingard's never tackled this genre--It may fit him like a glove or it may not be his strongest work. Either way I look forward to following the production and getting hyped for it regardless of what the end product is.
Welcome back, Chris and thank you for the kind words! It's great to have you back on the forums. It's always nice to see familiar faces re-emerge. I hope other newbies or maybe even first time visitors get a chance to read your post, I'm sure it will inspire and encourage other like-minded fans to join in and take part.
I just turned 26 myself and I agree it's nuts to think how far we've come (and had to wait for the next movie haha). I see this place continuing to light up as KOTM comes around and then again for Godzilla vs. Kong.

I remember some a-holes in my high school days mocking me for liking "silly" and "childish" things like Godzilla, who, according to them, looks so "fake" and "chessy". Now as a mature adult with increasing years of life experience, I have no shame telling the world my love of Godzilla. Never accept it when people say you should be ashamed or be embarrassed by your love of Godzilla. Rather, spread that love. That is why I am here.
Yeah I don't see how fairies would fit into the monsterverse universe. I suppose it's not impossible. But it would seem odd and jaring if they appear, since the monsterverse thus far has not emphaized the more fantasy or magical aspect of kaijus, but more in the form of psuedo-science.
From another guy who came here, left for a while and then came back because of the joy of sharing excitement over a fandom, I salute ya. I was a part of several Facebook groups and elsewhere trying to find a good kaiju friend circle/hangout, and while there are some really solid ones there I've always appreciated how up to date this site keeps on information, which makes it fun to geek out over.
Every fandom has its negative elements and even here there's tiresome ideas and immaturity, but what I mostly see is the everlasting love of kaiju and it's a great thing to share. Best to ya as you trek through the college work, and here's to a killer upcoming year for our biggest and best hero, The Big G :)

Sweet thanks Dough boy! Hope we get to see Kaiju destroy some property manually. Only thing that could ruin this film is if they killed off Ghidorah Rodan or Godzilla or cut off any of Ghidorah's heads or skimp on the destruction money shots like cheap asses.
As for Pacific Rim i didn't go for spoilers but was stoked for the trailers. I was rooting for the Otachi to defeat all Kaiju and robots seeing she was the closest to a Dragon. Her shin jaw and brutal murder killed that film for me, and as for part 2 there were no Kaiju i loved. I need my beloved Godzilla Ghidorah and Rodan to rule as the Gods! Very very stoked. I have been waiting for this all my life and when 98 came around first I did not believe Hollywood would tuch our king then went into full rebellion when the words "Godzilla defeated" appeared on the screen until I adopt an Iguana and seen how much of a notzilla shin ended up being when Japan swore they would kick out ass and then fired a statue at our Japanese/American King. Fucking blasphemy. If say this KOTM film is well overdue and if I had the cash to see it now id say release it now.... Im broke as shit tho and haven't made a Godzilla convention over a decade and I'm producing a failsafe film for in case we loose to Kong called Tiamatzilla vs the Kaiju Kongs. I'm down with this trailer now but can wait til May for the rest, I'll be at the fest this year as well.

I think so. It was stated at the start of this video that "Mothra's theme" would be featured in the movie alongside "Godzilla's theme". It doesn't specifically state which theme.

Which brings to question... which theme? Ifukube didn't write the "Mothra's Song", so I assume we're talking about the "Mahara Mothra".
It has also been stated at the panel that Mothra's theme will be in this movie as well.
Yeah sadly they went downhill once they got bought out by "Premium Network" or whatever umbrella company that bought them and CBR / ComicBook(.com). I had to unfollow / unlike their pages for the insane clickbait. Exactly why I've refused to sell this site and the network we built and keep it private.

Screen Rant is garbage, their Youtube videos are full of clickbait thumbnails that often lie to the nature of their content for views, and their content leaves a lot to be desired for anything credible as well. Thanks for the updates, it's great to know we're getting an early Christmas gift from the folks at Team Godzilla :)

My man :) You get where it's at. I mean yeah I want to see the movie sooner than later and would have loved a March release date, but summer's gonna be here in no time and I don't want to get all the goodness too tired and spoiled before the event hits.
I knew a young man who far overhyped himself on Pacific Rim while I just waited patiently for it to come, and surprise surprise by the time it came I loved it while he had already burned himself out on it and ended up finding it lame to his hyped up expectations. Excitement versus impatient demanding can create two very different outcomes in our enjoyment.
in my opinion... TOHO has got to be loving this because this version of Godzilla is ginning up interest everywhere and Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra are finally gonna get the Hollywood treatment which is way over due.

He looks like a beast... ready to kill. Like a bear in a manner of speaking. It's a great design. Needs bigger teeth... but over all it's an improvement from the first.
Marvel only means Godzilla comics to me. Give us the freaking trailer already. I'm only going to see Godzilla and How to Train your Deagon3 in the theater forget everything else. Marvel Godzilla comics are sweet. Stan did the big God a solid run.
Ghidorah is a 3 headed Dragon... so walking on his wings so to speak would be a typical moniker of how a dragon sometimes moves around on the ground. is wings in this version certainly indicate that this could be the case.
tease me or whatever... I'll remain patient. Good things come to those who wait. It's kinda like a Big Mac versus a 20 oz Sirloin Steak cooked just right. You can be hungry... but you'll wait for the steak and fore go the Big Mac.

Maybe, just maybe, the battle with Ghidorah is too brutal that Godzilla still haven't recovered completely when he faces off with Kong. That would make the playing field a bit more even.

you both make valid points. i don't think King Ghidorah will be killed off in the first movie. I believe Godzilla will lose to Ghidorah this time and the humans understands that Godzilla can't do it by himself. so the humans decide to bring Kong over to help Godzilla fight Ghidorah but instead fights each other until they team up to fight Ghidorah.
i could be wrong. i'm just speculating but i believe the titan temple Dr.serizawa died in will unleash other monsters during the movie "King of The Monsters" or "Godzilla Vs Kong"

Because given the pattern most of the G-Series has gone it's very likely that the Big G won't be taking down Ghidorah by himself, either getting help from Mothra or from humans. while the Kong scrap will probably be more of a one-on-one. My theory remains that humans will probably end up deciding to help Team Godzilla against Ghidorah by using the Oxygen Destroyer against it as the bigger threat, I doubt very much that Godzilla's going to be alone in his efforts.
I don't think so. I am pretty sure that there will be an easter egg of some sort for them though. I do have an idea for how the fairies could work though.
Maybe Mothra is a telepathic kaiju that can communicate with humans when they are sleeping. Maybe Mothra chooses to take the form of the fairies in these telepathic dreams as her way of communication. The reason why she would choose fairies is that fairies are seen as friendly creatures which would calm the person that Mothra was communicating with. That's just my Theory though.
Well, presumably, the next movie will be an underdog story for Kong given how much larger and stronger Godzilla will be even after Kong does some growing.

It looks unrecognizable. I thought that it was just a picture of one of the Indricotheriums (now called Paraceratherium) from BBC's Walking with Beasts (or Walking with Prehistoric Beasts, depending on the version), and then when I read what it was, I couldn't believe it. It looks that unrecognizable and ugly.
