Rodan’s looks the best.
TheGMan123: Yeah, although the is very cryptic hint.
Ghdiorah's Antarctic location is another hint. Being frozen in ice is a homage to the Thing. And the Thing was of course an evil alien planning to take over the world.
I spoke with some friends at Wikizilla--Apparently the blurb about Godzilla's power wearing off predates the site's transition from wikia. The blurb has been removed from Wikizilla, but the far less accurate Gojipedia still includes it.
As far as they know, there's no source that claims Godzilla either lost or retained the power. It's probably just up to your discretion, but I'll continue to snoop around out of mere curiosity.
We have the best look at Rodan's face in the poster.
I love Ghidorah and Rodan!
Honestly, the best evidence for the "Ghidorah is an alien" theory comes from BEFORE the trailers' releases, when Michael Dougherty made some interesting Twitter reposts/responses on NASA Tweets, ESPECIALLY that one about alien microorganisms being preserved in crystals.
Come to think of it, I like Godzilla's_Tail79's theory about the shot being actually a flashback about Ghidorah's arrival on Earth in pre-historic times, alluding to the alien origin of Ghdiroah in the Showa series. So that would mean Ghidorah is fundamentally different from other titans in it's alien origin.
Sounds a bit fanciful, but anything is possible at this point.
New GIFs from the new Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer #2

Mothra after being fried by Ghidorah… or Rodan… and I'm thinking Rodan.
Black Scorpion - an old WB film... speculation mind you... but that could be what's coming out of the ground near the oil rigs. WB could use that and it could work for this movie. As for the mountain swelling up... that to me seems like it could be a TOHO monster that was green lighted but kept secret.
Hey now, let's not get too crazy with the aliens! One alien monster is enough for right now!
Save it for when the Monsterverse is assured past GvK :P
Oh, excellent, thank you.
And yeah the only issue with super complete works, I think, will be translating it. But there are plenty of pathings around that hurdle.
Or it could be Orga!
Okay I'm kidding. ;)
Getting past the....... "weirdness" of Ghidorah's hax will be key here, I presume. Maybe even exposing his true form.
Either way, this is but a mere appetizer for the true meal, Godzilla: King of the Monsters!
That's a good place to start. To my recollection there's nothing in the Toho SFX Monster Encyclopedia about it. So we can strike that from the source list.
Thanks, that's exactly what I thought. But I'd say that the energy was infinite and that we were clearly shown the power being received but not lost at the absolute least implied the powerup was permanent (and at most confirms it). Also supporting this conclusion is how FinalGoji or UGoji was immune to all weapons used against it before it was accidentally trapped; that includes the Oxygen Destroyer. It adapted and evolved to micro-oxygen live and permanently assimilated it into its Soul and living physiology, just like it did to the Unlimited Kaiser energy it absorbed, which rendered UGoji an omnipotent and omniscient and omnipresent and amortal Kaiser as well. FinalGoji and KeizerGoji can also, of course, touch their toes, feet, reach around behind tail with arms head torso etc, wrap itself up tighter infinitely, OUROBOROS but also not -- immanent in transcendence.
I was digging too, and I couldn't find anyone else talking about this specific question, so I think novelization or guide books are probably our best chance to hear some official word. Please let me know if you find anything.
EDIT: I've ordered a copy of final wars super complete works to study. It'll take a while to arrive but I'll be sure to report back before and after it gets here
Godzilla's_Tail79: All plausible possibilities. Could also be Mothra getting fried by King Ghidorah.
Either
A) A flashback of Ghidorah falling to Earth
B) Godzilla/Rodan/Mothra falling down to Earth after being brought into the upper atmosphere by Ghidorah
I'm curious to see how Godzilla will fight an opponent made entirely of energy. He can't touch Ghidorah and his Atomic Breath gets deflected so how does he fight?
There's nothing in the movie that confirms he lost or kept the energy. There might be some source book out there that claims it--I'll do some digging. Otherwise, it just seems like some loose wording from fans/writers.
One thing is certain... there is DEFINETLY more than 4 kaiju in King of the Monsters. Call it a hunch but... I think TOHO green lighted a couple of monsters on the down low and kept it quiet.
Don't be surprised... if it's true... but be amazed if it is because it signals the future of the monsterverse.
The Monarch Sciences site shows outposts all over the place. I think I counted 14 that were still "classified". They'll all be rising from the hollow earth.
G. H. (Gman): Oh really? ;)
Personally much as I would like to see Kumonga or Anguirus on the big screen again, I doubt they would appear in KoTM. If those classic fellas are going to appear, we would have heard some rumours of them by now. I believe those are original kaijus from Legendary, as the trailer did say the titans are now appearing all over Earth. So it may be more a sign of their awakening than having the old Toho classic monsters back.
Godzillatheking123,
We'd tell you. But then we'd have to kill you.
Does Legendary have the rights to other Toho kaijus or is it limted to only Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra and Rodan?
There are quite a few, actually. ;)
I hope we get to see lots of property destruction instead of just the aftermath. I love his heisei eyes!
Toho monsters are likely out, and a new member of the Godzilla family is also unlikely.
Godzilla Junior is not in this movie.
Since there are 2 more glimpses of creatures in that latest trailer. The possibility of there being a Gjr are high.
What monsters do you think they are hinting to in the the latest trailer drop?
My guesses are Baragon & Kumonga.
I don't believe that this is Rodan due to the creatures arm not possessing any membrane or wing of any kind.
Though there were two shots depicting two secret kaiju, I doubt that they were it. One has to be an insect while another is a mountain. I believe that the mountain would either be baragon, anguirus, and Kamoebas. The only creature I can see this being other than godzilla would be obsidius from the game.
We weren't told of any other Kaiju aquisitions from Toho. So, I think it has to be either a super charged/heated godzilla, burning godzilla, or a new kaiju.
That shot could be of Rodan as well. Or maybe Rodan set Godzilla on fire somehow. I doubt they would set up Godzilla's death so early, but then again this is the studio that shoved Death of Superman into BvS so you never know...
It would be cool if a ToHo monster appeared, like Angiurus being the one monster that was moving the mountain. I'm not sure on the one where the claws were coming out of the ground, but people are saying that it may be Kumonga
Personally I don't think this is Burning Godzilla, but maybe a less powerful form of it.
If the first film was the slow unveiling into a quiet act, then this one is surely the epic new spin on the old show.
I'm still waiting for figures of Godzilla '98, Baby Godzilla '98, GTS Godzilla '98, GTS Baby Godzilla '98, Cyber-Godzilla, GFW Zilla, and IDW Zilla. <333
Well I'm hyped up! <3
Would be awesome to see a return of the Burning Godzilla!
