Glad we got all this cleared up so people can start getting excited. can hardly wait till next week.
People have been asking why there is no Godzilla vs Gamera film and now they just forget about but i no that lengendary might ask daei for a G vs G movie :/
There will probably never be a Godzilla vs Gamera movie.
Is it something that I'd enjoy? Yes just to see godzilla kill that turtle Ripoff(not to say Gamera doesn't have enjoyable movies too), but it's never ever going to actually happen.
The only difference there would really be is:
Theatrical movie: You see people getting caught in explosions, buildings falling on them, and after effects of attacks, hospital scenes ect
Director's cut: You see the people actually spewing blood, and more profanity.
Honestly the line you can take it with PG 13 nowadays is pretty far. definitely enough to encompass what the movies is trying to show. I don't think a Director's cut would really add that much more, if anything, that wasn't done well enough in the actual movie.
That said I'd still probably get it just so I'd have the option to watch both, and have extra scenes to enjoy, or make fun of if the movie ends of bad.
gman, I believe Toho even told Daei that they don't want their monsters in the same movie.
YES THE TRAILER IS COMING FOR THE HOBBIT!
No! The "date" thing is for when the information was released, not when the trailer debuts.
sometimes! the trailer comes out days after it is posted
Okay thank you for clearing that up
Guess The Hobbit will be the first movie to premier it.
@Durp004
The date is the day the Canadian motion picture represenatives gave it a proper rating classification. It simply means the trailer is done and ready for distribution in front of upcoming movies. I'd expect the trailer in the next two weeks or so. There's a pretty good chance they might release it online before The Hobbit, ala X-Men, Spider-Man and Captain America.
No it's comes out western coast time since warner bros is in California.
I'm confused, according to that the trailer's coming out 12/3
but it's already almost 9 pm on the Eastern timezone soooooo, am I misinterpreting this or what?
I mean it's okay for a stop motion film.
Yeah, you're probably right.
Right? My thoughts exactly. The less we seem to know about Godzilla, the better in my opinion. That makes it more fun to speculate.
@BCRockett94
Indeed, and I understand that, but the conversation has since taken a different turn and I've addressed those comments as they have come.
But a director's cut of the kind you're alluding to doesn't sound like much of a director's cut. "Tasteful" gore that was removed sounds like quick shots that might add up to a few seconds at most. (And that's often all it takes to get a movie an R or PG-13 rating-- depending on which way you're swinging it.)
But of course, if there were a director's cut, I'd be interested in seeing it. I just beleive there are too many factors in play for such a cut to exist.
Though it is a shame that it doesn't say how the trailer will be released.. Though my fingers are crossed for The Hobbit, but either way, good to know that they actually plan on releasing the trailer instead of just keeping it for themselves. lol
I had a mantis shrimp a few years back in a saltwater tank... I always thought it would be a cool concept for a monster they also are highly intelligent and have amazing vision could make for a great opponent
YES! AlbertaFilmratings is more my style for confirmation! I was just about to post a link here myself. Which this is probably where this movie maniac guy got his information.
Gman, buddy, I was just waking up when I was posting, or still very tired, and all I really meant by this post (despite what it appears that I'm saying) is that it would be pretty cool if there was a bunch of cut material that was pushing the movie in an R rated direction, and if they released that material in the form of a director's cut.
I never meant to imply that the movie has to have gore and violence to be dark. I meant that it would be neat if there was gore in places where it'd be "tastefully" done, but by adding it into the theatrical movie would be giving it an R rating, so they give us a director's cut. I never meant to imply that there was going to be any cut material, I was just asking if there was cut material (for the sake of a PG13 rating), if anyone would be interested in purchasing that when it becomes available.
No they won't. As Godzillasaurus said Legendary didn't get the rights from Daiei to use the monster and I doubt they think he's profitable enough do it. Gamera isn't very popular in America anyway.
Besides that, Toho has never had any interest in making a Godzilla vs. Gamera movie and they certainly don't want to risk boosting Gamera's popularity by debuting the concept in a mega-budget, Hollywood feature film.
@Godzillasaurus
I never once said Godzilla was "for kids" only. You need to re-read and show me where I said that, because I never once insinuated that in my writing. I think both kids and adults share the targeted demograph for Godzilla. That said, you're wrong. While the original movie wasn't exactly for children (and this new movie is most likely written to appeal to an older demograph) I'd say a good 2/3s of the 28 Godzilla movies were intended to appeal to children or families. Yes even movies in the Heisei and Millennium series.
Now here's where you're absolutely right: Kids will still see it. No matter how you slice it children, ages 6-15, are still going to play a huge part in the box office of this movie. Regardless of how "dark and realistic" it is, it will never be so dark and dank to not appeal to younger audiences.
@xxSaber
There were plenty of kids who went to see Batman Begins and The Dark Knight-- both of those movies had fairly "scary" moments, but not one child left the theater. Why? Because Batamn appeals to kids. And so does Godzilla.
The toys are proof. Why spend millions of dollars making toys for a movie if Warner Brothers isn't trying to make Godzilla appeal to children in some way? Then there's the leaked cover of that children's Godzilla book. Listen, the movie can be as dark and gritty as it likes, but the fact is Warner Brothers still sees a market for kids in this movie and they're going milk it that way if they can.
G-Fans need to move away from this illusion that Godzilla is some sort of dark, dank, violent goul that will only be for adults. History has shown young audiences enjoy Godzilla and, like it or not, they will always play a big part in how these movies are made. There will never be a Godzilla movie that isn't accessable to kids and young teens.
a monster that is a homage to gamera maybe but not gamera himself.
kiryu is the best mechagodzilla verison of all,hands down!!!
Nice job, now King Caeser next.
@GODZILLASAURUS Um, Hedorah would be new, he wasn't in any of the previous games (unless you count being able to summon his flying form in one in DAMM).
@DINOBOY22 I would like to see Gorosaurus in the next game (if there is one) too, he's quite interesting among all the monsters for not having any special powers or defenses, just his signature "kangaroo kick" (and Godzilla was able to do a similar, but much better kick attack in Godzilla vs. Megalon), and yet being badass enough to be one of the only monsters to actually fight Ghidorah in Destroy All Monsters. Speaking of which, I hope that, if they make another game in the style of the Atari/Pipeworks games, they don't force a beam attack on every monster that doesn't have one, like how they gave Anguirus and Varan sonic beams, since I think it would be better to just give the tooth and claw monsters better melee attacks, which would make sense, as those monsters would be more experienced in fighting up close and personal without any ranged attacks to rely on.

Right now, it's fourth in the list. You may have to scroll down as they add more trailers they rate.
AND THIS IS A LEGIT CONFIRMATION. This site posts trailers that have been screen and rated. On rare occassions, a trailer is on the list after it's shown (Captain America The Winter Soldier showed up 3 days after it was released). So it's confirmed. The trailer is ready to be shown, it's just a waiting game now and I have complete faith in our source saying it'll be with The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug.
Walking outta the theater once that trailer finishes lol
@GOJIRA2k: I've heard of him, he should be an interesting one to do. This one must be the clostest monster to its original version I've done thus far.
Classic Toho Monster #14: Varan
Species: Varan
Height: 50 Meters
Length: 60 Meters
Abilities: Gliding flight at mach 1.5; tough armored hide.
My Legendary Pictures Counterpart: [No Name Yet]
Species: Draco volans/Armadillo Girdled Lizard/Squid
Height: 50 Meters
Length: 60 Meters
Abilities: Uses an air-based more powerful version of Squid propulsion to help get into the air to Glide; Tough Armored hide; can roll up into a ball.
Reason for Species Choices: For the physical body, I thought the Flying Dragon (aka Draco volans) was a good starting point. The Armadillo Girdled Lizard has a tough scaly armor, and can roll up into a ball for added protection. Due to the armor, the monster needs a little help for its gliding. Thus I use the same style, only mutated/enhanced, to allow it to get in the air and allow the gliding wings to keep it in the air for a time.
Godzilla was ment too be a Force of nature But then toho made godzilla in too a super hero and i really want godzilla too stay as a bad guy
Well lengendary is starting a new series of Godzilla movies so i guess they might have too make a Godzilla vs gamera film in the futrue
Umm, no... Legendary did not acquire the rights to Gamera or any of the other Daiei monsters...
AT THE HEART of Godzilla. He was NOT for kids. He was considered a horror monster. Just look at the original movie. Hell, I watched it the other day and it still surprises me. It scared grown people then. Godzilla only BECAME an image to kids oncer he started becoming a hero in the movies. He wasn't as horrifying then, because he ended up protecting. Anyway, I don't think we'd get a directors cut, although that would be awesome.
i doubt any deleted scenes would have much godzilla in them at all anyway, those scenes are too expensive to just not put in the movie. if there are any deleted scenes its most like 80% will just be all humans being all human beings
How about Varan next.
That idea is GREAT! The less Godzilla is shown directly, the more suspense it will be! I dont want to get a FULL view in the first hour. A proper build-up would be great!
