my faverite is godzilla 2000
@ gman
it doesn't. People just wanted him to be bigger i guess. He is huge, but still of a size that could move around inside of a city. Much bigger, and he would get stuck and have a hard time moving around. Something that I'm sure was concidered. Edwards said that the size was carefully concidered, and not random. This, i'm almost postive, would have been brought up.
@ Mikezilla, That's what he just said. He said it's three and a half times larger than a blue whale.
In regards to the rest of the article, you need to stop harboring such hostilities towards people that think he's significantly taller than he's been before on film. It's rude, unnecessary, and childish. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. If you state the facts you have, present them in an acceptable manner, people are more likely to listen to you.
Here's a better question. Why does it matter if this Godzilla is bigger or smaller than Toho's biggest Godzilla? Why does it affect the movie?
Blue whales average 98 feet long.
Some reference:
T-rex: 13ft tall, up to 40ft long
African elephant: about 18ft
Godzilla is bigger then the blue whale didn,t no that thx peted
petedj06@, this godzilla is bigger than a blue whale!
@ xxsaberblackrow
I know, it's 3.5 X the size of a blue whale. The biggest animal ever.
Yeah, clearly everyone ignored my request to tone down the hate. Going to lock this now. For those engaging in the name calling, don't carry it on in other threads or warnings will be dealt out.
We're lenient here, to an extent. Attack the topic, NOT the individual. And XXSaberblackcrow, if someone tries to start a feud with you, PM a staff member, don't retaliate and throw insults around as well. It puts you in the wrong just as much as everyone else involved.
With differences of opinions bound to take place on this forum, we need to remember to respect everyone and treat others the way we'd like to be treated. The internet is a haven for doucshebags and trolls and we like to pride ourselves on keeping a friendly atmosphere here. So please, if you don't have anything constructive or nice to say, don't post.
Going to lock this now.
350 feet tall is kinda huge
i think we should stop arguing and wait for the official word gareth or the movie because this is not worth arguing over :P
I already posted my thoughts on this in the "explain this sh#t" conversation. People are over-reacting, talking like Godzilla is a micro-machine, when in reality, 350 feet is impossibly huge, and the largest Godzilla yet.
i know godzilla is bigger than 350 ft it must be a mistake
How about Avengers battling an invasion and the when a new level of the invasion overwhelms them with giant monsters, we then hear Godzilla's roar, and he joins the battle.
Hahaha. I love this, everyone is over-reacting. You are all talking like 350 feet is small! By looking at these threads you would think the big G was all like:

When in reality, he's HUGE!!! He is like 3.5 BLUE WHALES!!!
One word: perspective. If you watch the trailer again, as the trooper descends, the building becomes larger than Godzilla as his vision ofthe building becomes parallel with the sight of Godzilla. It's just the angle he's at, that makes Godzilla look bigger.
ya i agree with king_of_zombies@. like the part in the trailer where Ford jumps off the railroad track is probably when he first encountered godzilla. and the halo jump is a dream and turns into a NIGHTMARE
Maybe all the HALO jump scene is just a Ford Brody´s Nightmare about Godzilla walking sleep.
It's still from a very high angle, even as he pass the building going down you can see streets and the tops of other shorter buildings. So it's hard to tell.
Again, I don't think it matters. A lot of Godzilla movies never get the scale right and the '98 movie was the worst offender. As long as it looks good in the movie I don't really care that much and really don't believe his height is that big of a deal.
I watched the trailer and i think the head or the neck is bigger?
Larger audience? I don't know about that... Seems like everyone voting on this thing are just rabid niche groups. How else do you explain The Rover beating Captain America 2, Noah beating Tranformers, Tracers beating The Hobbit and Veronica Mars beating Guardians of the Galaxy?
Seems like a pretty superfluous to me. Unless all these winning movies are destined to do better at the boxoffice than the ones they're beating-- which I highly doubt.
I do agree it'd be a blow to some rabid Vampire/Twilight fans. I'm down for that too.
GMAN2887 I really wanna agree with you, but I just studied the trailer again, Godzilla looks only about 2 blocks away from the building but still looks bigger than the building. Just watch and im pretty sure youll see too
While the 350 ft. mention does not come off as indisputable, it does make perfect sense. Gareth Edwards commented that his Godzilla was 'Just about' the tallest ever, and 350 is only 5 ft. off of my original estimate using modern American architecture and the Godzilla enctouner footage to estimate his height between 355-450ft.
Again, this 350 ft. comment is hardly indisputable, so take it too with a grain of salt, but it does confirm that Godzilla will not be anywhere near the 779' mark that some wonderful geniuses on this site have claimed.
Or what GMAN2887 said. That works too...
This thread needs to be closed and removed now. Any mods on that can do that? This discussion has taken a dark turn.
Ugh...
I don't think it really matters, but for the sake of argument it might just be the angle from which the shot takes place. It looks like Godzilla might be a little further out from the building from a high angle, making him look similar in height as the building.
Godzilla defies the laws of the universe. It happens.
@Akio
I understand and agree with what you're getting at. I think this was addressed very well in Edward's most recent quote:
"If everything is whizz-bang constantly throughout the whole movie it just becomes nothing. So you have to carefully go to quiet and restrain things so that the other things hit you hard."
I'm honestly stumped when it comes to this question.
Possibly the head is bigger or the body of Godzilla
Not to mention it'd be a blow to the Twilight fans which I am ALWAYS for
Ghostkaiju okay i get it now. all of my post did not make sense now i need to calm down
@XXSABERBLACKCROW
Dude, you have no idea how much of an ignorant child you sound like right now.
You clearly stated "i No i made mistakes when i went too this website but this one is the worst ever." You can't deny it, the proof is there in your earlier post. And you don't have to apologize for your idea, you just have to acknowledge that it doesn't make any logical sense.
A cartoon series? I would be first in line to stop it. It wont work.
HOWEVER...Instead of a cartoon series, what about straight to dvd animated movies, done in the same way as the Hellboy: Animated movies?. Those we`re entertaining, but still kept a dark tone. Kids could watch them, but it was clearly aimed at older fans. I would love that.
With a cartoon series, they would have to limit Godzilla ALOT. But in a straight to dvd movie, they wont have to ridicule themselves.
Look im tired of all the fighting im just going too say im sorry for putting this rumor about Godzilla sleepwalking.
dude i didn,t say anything about this site is the worst
This threads pains me. And im not going to point at anyone. However;
Im pretty sure he is well awake.
But on topic of his size. For me, 350-400 feet is absolutely fine by me. 500 feet is A BIT exxagerated, but i`ll live.
By the way, why would you want to prove he isnt hunched? The prototype model doesnt prove anything. But everything else we have seen does. Posters, the trailer, ETC.
I fully agree with GhostKaiju and Dragonlord Tevin. Xxsaber, you need english lessons. You started the whole sleeping thing, and then you pin it on others when you are getting called out.
