@PETEDJO6 NO, the CGI for Godzilla 98 was crap, Jurassic Park it´s from 93, and it had way better VFX than Godzilla 98.

KyeroGodzilla ForumKing Ghidorah's reputation

Honestly Destoroyah IS Godzilla's toughest enemy. The fact that he took over half a dozen direct blasts of Godzilla's Red-Spiral Ray in close proximity and took minor damage whereas ever other enemy was destroyed outright in 3-4 blasts, speaks volumes for how powerful Destoroyah is. Physically speaking, he's not the biggest, but he is the most powerful.

Now, about King Ghidorah.

Honestly, I think he's overrated.

He's got a cool and unique design. He's got an interesting attack. He's got the longevity and popularity to have been reused multiple times throughout the franchise. However, those do not grant him the excuse to be "the best Godzilla enemy" of all time in my opinion as so many others seem to label him.

Is he badass? Yes.

Is he worth the investment? Yes.

Is he worth focusing on to this extent (as in this forum thread)? No.

Many of Godzilla's other foes/allies deserve attention on the same scale that Ghidorah does. Discounting the others just because of a personal love or attachment for Ghidorah is actually quite disrespectful to the rest of the Toho Kaiju cast.

For instance, let's count how many foes (as foes and not allies) only made it into one movie as primary antagonists (King Kong ((being an American monster)) and reused creatures in Final Wars excluded).

Ebirah

Hedorah

SpaceGodzilla

Destoroyah

Biollante

Megalon

Kamakuras

Kumonga

Gabara

Even though some of these monsters are not as popular or as beloved as others, many of them I believe hold more intrigue and potential than Ghidorah does. Ghidorah has been used multiple times, and not just in Godzilla movies. He was the main antagonist in the final Rebirth of Mothra movie as well, and was the pure evil creature that you wished him to be. He even had a couple of new abilities to boot.

Again, King Ghidorah is awesome. I'm not bashing him or saying that he isn't badss in any way. But I am saying that he is highly overrated and overappreciated. His use as a three headed Dragon from space are about all he has going for him, as he couldn't exist any other way. The Futurian excuse in the 1991 movie was forced and contrived, and I didn't like that origin story so I don't count it as a true possibility for his birth or conception in any way. Many of Godzilla's foes which only saw one main antagonistic appearance deserve more I think, with one or two exceptions.

To say that Ghidorah deserves all of this over the top attention, in my opinion, is a folly.

That's still not 'realism' to be honest. Basic studies of the reality surrounding how nuclear energy and radiation function and their effects on the environment will explain why.

Anyway, there will not be a King Ghidorah in the new franchise, however if the movie does well enough and Toho asks or encourages Legendary to actually "remake" one of the old films featuring Ghidorah, then I'll want him to keep his origins.

Part of the charm of Ghidorah being an alien was that we didn't need an explanation of his origin or how he came to be. The fact that he was an alien that was badass was more than enough. His ass-kickery in the Showa series and the Heisei series didn't need the whole futurian thing to be honest, and even though it kind of worked for Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah in the early 90's, it was unnecessary.

So all in all, I think that the whole concept of King Ghidorah as a three headed Dragon from space doens't need adjusting or be drawn into the 'realism' part of it. Making him look realistic, as far as anatomics are concerned, is more important than giving him a believable origin. If he must have one: Alien from space. Period. It's more than enough, even by today's standards.

I would either love to see this or just different monsters that are like Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah.

No matter how some feel about zilla on this forum, it was actually an interesting documentary. However, the narrator calls New York, Gotham as well as calling Zilla a she. It was still interesting. No matter what you think of the movie, the effects were great for 98'.

Thanks for liking it guys:). For the folks worrying about blue whales are not enough to sustain Godzilla, just think of the whale as a snack or something. While it hunts the main course (daikaijus) in the depth of the ocean where no man has discovered yet.

It is cool but the entire movie would be underwater and that means no cities being destroyed.

I like the picture. The only thin wrong is the king and the whale are a little too small but then again, it is photoshopped.

Most reptiles barely eat anything anyway. So if Godzilla DID have to eat, he wouldn't have to eat much and wouldn't have to eat very often to sustain himself.

Nile crocodiles can go a year without eating anything and survive.

Even the whole 'nuclear energy' reactor in his stomach concept sort of works-- if we are talking about Heisei Godzilla; which we are not. We have no idea about 2014's biology.

But then again we are arguing the concept of 'what is realistic' in the realm of Godzilla. Might as well try and scientifically explain how santa can deliver all his presents in one night.

And for all of you "realism" people, it could have been a M.U.T.O. experiment at a new species to lower populations ofirritating species but it absorbed some type of energy like radiation or gamma that combine three of the Ghidoras into the King Ghidora and then Godzilla fights it.

You might get some bad responses, but I like it. I'm not afraid of a re-design. It's close enough that I recognized him, and still would have if I wasn't on a Godzilla site. I would only make small changes. Keep him gold, and split the tail. Then it would be perfect.

I thought this was a scene of the movie when I saw on FaceBook, but when I came here and read the fourms, I told myself: dang that should be apart of the movie.  :(  #godzillaswag

Godzilla 2014 stands upright like... well, Godzilla, not horizontally like a theropod or *shudder* Zilla.

I think it would be cool to see Godzilla eating a whale as a leftover instinctual behavior (as long as they actually point out that he doesn't really need to eat, to avoid causing misconceptions).

Monsters was a fantastic movie and finding out Gareth did the VFX himself makes it even better.  Legendary/WB Could not have picked a better person to direct Godzilla

I'm not one for reading but this sounds pretty good.  I think more important to take from this are some plot clues about the movie.

"Delve into an incredible mystery, generations in the making. At the dawn of the atomic age, humanity awakens lifeforms beyond imagination, unleashing monumental forces of nature."

yea, marvel is awesome, especially when it comes to team ups, but im glad dc is handling it, they do a bit of a better job with darker characters(for example batman and bane). in any case this is going to be great.

Kinda surprised DC is handling it since IDW has been responsible for the last slew of Godzilla comics we've gotten lately. Godzilla: Rulers of Earth is fantastic.

Chris how do you do it. thats why your so awesome, i do agree dude. I now understand, like even RoboCop is better than that Vampire CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! RoboCop losing to teen vampires, just weird. we actually started beating VA 51 to 49, I say we did a good job. All G-FANS raise our cups in the air and say we did it.

I would like to see more than just 3 movies. Then we would have to wait until Japan takes back Godzilla.
