Greek gods aren't actually as powerful as you think. Sure they made the earth round but they could be killed by mortals. Sure those mortals are special, but i still don't see Godzilla being killed by a sword. Could they kill him? sure but i think they would need to team up , and even then I don't think it would be a complete crush.
I think Godzilla could be beated by many other fictional characters but not easily. OH and Godzilla did fight many marvel characters in cannon (Marvel's) and kick their asses, look at marvel's godzilla.
okay i want the double features on blu ray
Dear Godzilla, you attack Japan at least one time per year, Aren't you afraid that the Japanese become extinct?
When most people are confronted with Cthulu, they are driven insane with his presence. Godzilla just gets hungry for calamari.
@gman2887
you were talking about one SCENE (singular) not "scenes" (plural) before. Again in which I adressed that "maybe its for the 1954 scene and it will fit" in my previous replies. So I'm not arguing that. It's now back to "scenes" as a whole, in which from various interviews and previews we can see it's going to be dark and serious. I'm not doubting Desplat, like I said before, he'll do the job.
Godzilla vs. The Hulk/Thor would certainly be interesting. I think Galactis (Marvel villain who consumes entire worlds) would have Godzilla easily beat lol
in his universe? probably. but when you talk about other universes, films, mythology, books. hes not the most powerful being.
Not 100% confirmed GODZILLATHEKING123.
Fandango is offering a free music sample from the movie to anyone who pre-orders a ticket to a Godzilla showing.
However, considering that few showtimes/tickets are availabe right now, not many people have acess to the genuine music sample. Combined with the fact that there have been MANY fan-made music samples that have hit the web, it's hard to tell whether this is the real Fandango deal, or just another fan-made creation.
I'm not saying it's a fake. There's a good chance it's legit. But it's not '100%' confirmed at this time.
As more Fandango tickets become available in the coming weeks, and more people access the free music sample, we will get a better idea of whether this is legit or not.
Godzilla is probably one of the most powerful WELL KNOWN fictional characters.
But he's far from one of the most powerful characters period. As DestroyahX- already mentioned, there are many stupidly over-powered comic book characters in both the Marvel and DC Universe who are basically omnipotent gods.
Speaking of gods, I think it's fair to call certain gods, such as the Greek pantheon, 'fictional characters' at this point without offending anybody. And they would certainly be more powerful than Godzilla.
Also, it's important to keep Godzilla's power in and of itself in perspective. Sure, defensively, Godzilla is one of the most durable creatures to be created. However, offensively, Godzilla is actually a pretty small fish. He's got his melee moves, which while awesome to watch, aren't anything super special in terms of power.
And his atomic breath? It maybe has the power of a single cruise missile. It's definitely not the conglomerated power of multiple nukes. A SINGLE nuclear missile can level an entire island or medium sized city in basically an instant. Godzilla's nuclear breath can maybe knock down a single building in that same amount of time. It takes Godzilla several hours, if not days to destroy large sections of a city, and we've never actually seen him completely wipe out an entire one to the degree a nuke would.
I mean no disrespect to the Big-G. I'm obviously a fan. But being objective, Godzilla's power is not 'top of the line' sort of stuff......and that's actually a GOOD thing. Characters with defined weaknesses or power limits are almost always more interesting than 'All-Powerful' ones.
When good/bad guys have no defined limitations or parameters on their power, how is an audience ever supposed to be invested in their combat? Upping the ante too much just leads to a cartoonish slug fest, until one side arbitrarily wins for no good reason.
I would use different monsters for the pieces. Godzilla = king, Destoyah = Queen, Anguirus = Pawn, SpaceGodzilla = Rook, MechaG= bishop, King Ghidorah = knight.
@Sci-fi King25
Well, for one thing, they keep hunting one of my favorite snacks. Whales. Also, they have a lot of tall buildings to destroy. It's fun to watch them fall.
@GojiratheGojiraSaurus
Well, I am charcoal gray. Green is just my favorite color.
@Frognation
Honestly, I wouldn't really care if One Direction lived or died.
Now, Justin Bieber on the other hand, I would love to vaporize him with my atomic breath. I was OK with him at first. I didn't like his music, but I thought if some people like hm, that's fine. But considering the juvenile delinquent stuff he's been doing lately, he's lost my respect.
I would chose all of those but, the rooks, kingths, and bishops hae to be the same design, and cannot be different. Otherwise, All of those choices make sense.
Maybe for villians there could be an entirelly different list.
I think Toho no longer allows Godzilla to die as a contractual obligation for using the license, so that kind of makes him immortal. It also could be considered cheating.
Dear Godzilla
Would you be happy to kill one direction please?
how would you do it? (Be detailed/graphic)
Dear Godzilla,
Why do you always attack Japan?
What's your favorite food?
Er ... if you talk about monsters, I say maybe. But if you are talking about fictional characters in general then its a whole different ball game.
We've got a number of characters in the marvel universe that possess powers that make Godzilla look like a piece of cake. We have godly-beings in marvel, and also cosmic beings that can alter dimensions and destroy entire worlds.
Why green, godzilla is charcoal grey?
Now, he's "full-grown" in the sense that he's most definitely a seasoned adult, but he's also not full-grown in the sense that any significant amounts of radiation will bolster his overall size, meaning he has a theoretically unlimited level of growth, given enough radiation. This also means that everytime he grows from radiation, he's exponentially expanding his lifespan, meaning he'll be quite lively for another few million years if not disturbed much and allowed to heal up and rest, with a few million added per major growth.
However, his age would mean he'd be an alpha male of sorts, so, with that in mind, as the previous thread before this one addressed, would he be old enough to have started a family before an unknown event pretty much wiped out his species?
OK, just to clarify, its confirmed this piece of music is from the movie correct?
@KingKaijuGojira - You dont need a special camera, infact, I prefer not to. YOu just have to take lots of picures, and you can assemble them easily in movies maker of iMovie.
The rest of Godzilla Movie Month will be posted on my channel, Godzilla599, daily.
and SOMETHING REAL- Yeah that's me.
@KaijuJira I tried using the same colors from the TV spot with Godzilla getting shot at by the military at the Golden Gate Bridge scene.
@Skreooonk1789 ok I'll wait
@Smaug not really. I think it's the comment editor thing that made them look small, becathey it always edits the size to fit the width.
Good to know!
My only problem is the arms, their so small.
@Junkerde
Considering it is the scenes of this movie that ultimately make up the mood, the subject isn't far off. Desplat is obviously working with Edwards on this movie and the director/composer relationship is deciding what scenes need music and what kind of music. It may be safer to assume that Desplat's choices fit the 'mood' of the film just fine-- unless there's a complete lack of communication between Edwards and Desplat, (ala, Kitamura and Emerson on Final Wars) which is unlikely considering Edwards' work ethic. I trust that the music fits the supposed "mood" just fine.
@Destroyah-X
At the expense of sounding bias in my hatred for GINO, I've always found the '98 music to be a boring retread on the alien's main theme from Independence Day. Epic as it is, there's nothing there I found to be overtly interesting, musically. I find the sudden shifts in structure with the posted track to be much more interesting and unique.
Since Godzilla's exact age is unknown, but since we know he survived from 1954 to 2014 in this movie, I'd say there's a very good chance he's full grown. Given that he's already 350 feet tall and given that his kind existed in a time when radiation was much more plentiful in the atmosphere, he has to be full grown in my honest opinion. A creature like Godzilla, even in hibernation, doesn't magically stop aging. His body's processes slow down to protect him during the sleep, but otherwise his body continues to undergo aging and changes until he hits his full size and stops.
I believe he's full grown, given that his hibernation must have been thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of years old (or even more).
Calling someone else's post "pointless" IS rude, and uncalled for We have mods for a reason. Maybe they can deputize Junkerd...
SOMETHING REAL-
Seasoned warrior, huh? You really are of a rather romantic influence... and my attraction has peeked. If onlyI lived in England..... but regarding the topic, I'd say Godzilla is mabye a older creature, but considering this creature has existed for thousands of years, took a nuke to the face and is huge, juvinille doesn't really come tomind
If this is indeed the 'opening theme' for Godzilla 2014, my initial thought was that it sounded remisniscent of Godzilla 1998's theme. Certainly not a good choice if you ask me, and hopefully this really isn't the opening theme for the new movie cos even the 98 theme sounds more 'epic' to me than the new one.
SUGHOI DEMPLEX! btw for the art colab,i have to postpone for a few weeks,i have an art comission and orders that i havent finished.. :)
@gman2887
ok but your initial question was on how we knew if it would fit the movie's "mood" not a specific "scene" so now it's a different issue, which I addressed below in my comment about specific "scenes" in play. Also they say it's similar to Jaws in how Godzilla is hidden, which is only one element so we can't conclude it somehow borrows all the other elements of the movie.
I consider both the marches lighter in mood but again, we probably run into a more "opinianted" thing here because "desperate broadcast" and the "story" tracks sounded darker for me. And then again I explained myself on the whole specific scene in my post, we basically have the same idea about that, but the question was about the overall "mood" of the movie initially so maybe things were lost in translation.
Again like I said, I'm not a fan of it but I accept it and that it will do the job.
@THELOON
It's not a hard conccept to grasp, but zaffzilla said it perfectly. Let's not encourage pointless threads like this because it's the reason why other members have problems with topics "clogging" the recent discussioons feed. Let's encourage better discussions, cmon now.
Cool. I wish I had a camera for stop motion. I have so many ideas for stop motion films, but either the figures I need aren't out yet or they are and I don't have them or I don't have a camera.
I guess if the movie theather decides to start selling them early then they can, cuz true funny thing is that my imax theater is already selling them, GOTTA GET THEM NOW BEFORE SOLD OUT!!!! TO THE TICKET PURCHASER!!!>>>>>>>>>>>>
looks like a snow version Godzilla from antarctica.
