If a creature can live that long and hibernate, then that must mean they mature slowly.

i wonder if Godzilla's age in the movie would equivalent to a bloke in his 20's or 40's

FROGNATION - Now that's certainly a compelling premise you've brought up. Indeed, the Godzilla we see in Edwards' upcoming film might very well be a youth or young adult. That being said, I've a strong feeling Godzilla will be a more seasoned warrior! :)

Does a bear mature slowly? do reptiles mature slowly? I think godzilla is fully mature. Due to the fact that he's been living since the Dino era. An animal does not simply slow down maturity wise cause it sleeps for a long time. Only it's body will slow down like all of its functions will slow down but he will continue to grow to his full potential in his sleep, but you have to remember he is drawn to radioactive activity, and the radioactive fallout could make him bigger and stronger. Which it seems it always does.

I hope so... He doesn't need to be any bigger...

i would think so as well, though i wish he was at least 500 feet tall, it most likly will never happen but, i can live with 350 feet. :)

I feel that Godzilla is a young adult that just reached his full size a few years before hibernation.

For his species, he's quite old, having hibernated for a LONG time. However, growth-wise, he had a major "growth spurt" in 1954, and, technically speaking, he'd have almost unlimited gorwing potential provided nuclear radiation is present to absorb. So, theoretically, he's never truly "fully grown", since there was no limit to begin with. Though, his age would suggest he is a seasoned adult, and being the seemingly last survivor of his species would suggest he's an alpha male of some sort.

SOMETHING REAL-

Seasoned warrior, huh? You really are of a rather romantic influence... and my attraction has peeked. If onlyI lived in England..... but regarding the topic, I'd say Godzilla is mabye a older creature, but considering this creature has existed for thousands of years, took a nuke to the face and is huge, juvinille doesn't really come tomind

Since Godzilla's exact age is unknown, but since we know he survived from 1954 to 2014 in this movie, I'd say there's a very good chance he's full grown. Given that he's already 350 feet tall and given that his kind existed in a time when radiation was much more plentiful in the atmosphere, he has to be full grown in my honest opinion. A creature like Godzilla, even in hibernation, doesn't magically stop aging. His body's processes slow down to protect him during the sleep, but otherwise his body continues to undergo aging and changes until he hits his full size and stops.

I believe he's full grown, given that his hibernation must have been thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of years old (or even more).

Now, he's "full-grown" in the sense that he's most definitely a seasoned adult, but he's also not full-grown in the sense that any significant amounts of radiation will bolster his overall size, meaning he has a theoretically unlimited level of growth, given enough radiation. This also means that everytime he grows from radiation, he's exponentially expanding his lifespan, meaning he'll be quite lively for another few million years if not disturbed much and allowed to heal up and rest, with a few million added per major growth.

However, his age would mean he'd be an alpha male of sorts, so, with that in mind, as the previous thread before this one addressed, would he be old enough to have started a family before an unknown event pretty much wiped out his species?
