CGI 10/10.
Movies aren't meant to be watched on computer screens.
Actors 9/10
Music 8.5/10
He's probably biologically immortal.
He's almost near all-immortal considering his durability.
Yeah looks like I wasnt the only one, I agree Godzilla looked pretty pissed off as hell when he saw the muto.
But yeah the question is that was it just the way Godzilla's face looked naturally or was he giving off a mad face you know? I guess we'll have to see about that.
Yeah, It's looks like he is angry. We can see it in Airport scene, even it's in bad quality, but it's clearly readable angry grimace before The Roar. As some man on this forum said - his face just sayng - "I'M HERE TO END YOU, F****** Insect"
Chances are being struck with a weapon of nuclear devastation, coupled with the fact that your natural enemy still roams the Earth, would be enough to miff somebody a little.
I had been a longtime fan thanks to my Dad showing me all the epically cheesy late 60's and early 70's Godzilla movies. But then came Godzilla 1985..... WOW!!! I remember clenching my popcorn soooo tight i think i killed it a few times over, then the ROAR...... (0.o)
I have been a fan my whole life, my daughter is even getting into it as i introduce her to my collection. This movie gives me hope for the King again, after that 98 blip on the radar, this movie truly looks to bring him back into the limelight, and I can’t help but to geek out a bit more with every released clip!!
I would like to point that perhaps not even four dozen nukes specifically touched Godzilla, I simply said at most. How the operations worked to destroy him is unknown to everyone. But yes, I agree that it's a bit of a overreaction, however it might explain his size quite well.
Im guessing maybe just a cameo, but if a bigger role then thatll be more amazing
Hahaha lmfao
International trailer for me, I like the music and sounds being put in there
The extended look, I love the emotional moment and the roar at the end.
Love the latest spot with him roaring. Courage is great also. The first official trailer (with Cranston talking). Some money shots for me are the tail whipping around and his silhouette in the smoke, his spines reflections in the school bus, as well as him getting pelted by gun/tank fire at the GG Bridge.
Of course, the mother of all teasers/trailers was the proof of concept (Oppenheimer monologue) from SDCC '12, which wasn't officially released. That would have been a fantastic teaser to show publicly.
They've all been great.
What... the... hell?
Why not just send a private message instead of making a useless thread?
'54. I wish they had used the '54 roar, or reasonable facsimile.
@Goji2014
Legally they weren't allowed to use any of the original Godzilla sound bites, so it's not a simple sped up version of it.
The extended look, very emotional and epic.
I to like Courage
I would say... "Courage". :)
The younger me and the current me are two very different minds. Tastes change as people grow older and that's normal. Today I'm more interested in details I wasn't before and a lot of it shows in my opinions for this series-- admittedly. My opinion has probably changed for about 80% of these films, but here are the most drastic shifts:
Godzilla's Revenge - I used to be like most fans: Claiming this is one of the worst because of it's lack of focus on Godzilla, the story about the kid, the stock footage...blah, blah, blah. The younger, dumber me couldn't see the genius behind using Godzilla as a hook to tell a more personal story. The flaws are glaring, but atleast there's something very true about the storyline to overlook those flaws for.
Godzilla vs. Destroyah - There was a time that I put this in the top 5 best Godzilla movies. Today? It sits somewhere in the middle of the pack. The special effects are pretty rough, especially after all that Gamera: Guardian of the Universe accomplished on a shoestring budget earlier that year. (How did vs. Destroyah cost $5.5 million more than Gamera?) The unfinished character arcs and dropped plot points are also a sore spot in a movie that gets a bit overhyped. Regardless of how I see it now, I admit I still enjoy it a great deal for nostalgic purposes. The movie isn't ruined for me, it's just not very prolific.
Monster Zero - Here's a big one. I used to hate this movie for the severe lack of monster action and the attention to all things not Godzilla. Today, it's one of my favorite Godzila movies. Maybe my number one. And I love it for all the reasons I used to hate it for. The monster action is sparse, but still contain some of the best fights in the series. I love the pulpy characters, the way they intertwine and the popular sci-fi tropes of the era. It's a crazy movie, but it all works because there is a welcomed lack of Godzilla in it.
Destroy All Monsters - As a kid I thought this was the best of the best due to the amount of monster action. Today? It's like watching paint dry. This is an example of why we need strong characters in a Godzilla movie. Unlike Monster Zero, the characters here are about as flat and one dimensional as it gets. Thus, I don't really care about what happens to them. I'm not in any suspense for the situation. And I couldn't give a damn about what's at stake. The Mt. Fuji battle is fun, but other than that I think it's Ishiro Honda's weakest Godzilla film. It relies too heavily on the novelty that we see all these monsters in one movie.
It's interesting that Godzilla vs. Gigan is of such great debate here. I'm typically stuck in a rut on this one too. I remember when Barry's Temple of Godzilla was one of the only Godzilla sites out there and his page reviewed the movie with: "This is either one of the worst or one of the best movies in the series, depending on how you look at it." He couldn't have been more correct. Godzilla vs. Gigan is a visually cohesive movie, with strong characters and fun action. But it's also a movie with visual effects that either don't work or clash with the overused stock footage. It can be fairly boring to watch as it tries to fill in the dead spaces with shots from Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster or Monster Zero. It's a great example of trying to get things to pan out under a lack of resources, but it's also a plodding, dreary film that's suppose to be fun.
@Durp
It's been awhile, but wasn't Junior's lifecycle sped up after the accident on Bass Island in vs. Destroyah? Sure he was fairly big in SpaceGodzilla, but the characters seemed surprised he had matured like he had in vs. Destroyah and then there's lines like, "Bass Island really did something to him."
CGI-Godzilla 10/10
CGI-Mutos-10/10
Actors-10/10
Music-10/10
In my opinoin, I mean many of you havent seen the Wondercon footage, and the CGI for the muto was ok only beacuse the footage wasen't the finished product , and if you went you guys now what im taklng about but just seeing the mutos and godzilla move like that was really cool.
Long Live the King
The new roar works fine, but I prefer the 1984-1991 roar. It sounded the deepest and most animalistic.
I dont know if Godzilla could die of anything really, I mean in the new movie all we know so far is he will be fighting Mutos, but were not 100% sure on thier abilites. So to think realistic (in terms of the upcomig movie) the only thing we have powerful enough to kill him would either be an atom bomb or an hydrogen bomb.
So he's kinda immortal, and to answer your question, he has been here for a few million years so he could still have a few more million in front of him, unless they kill him in the movie, which really shouldn't be the case
Long Live the King
I think if they do go this way with the monster island idea then I would say there should be six monsters, besides godzilla i would say the second and thrid should be old monsters, the fourth and fifth should be new monsters, and the sixth could go either way, then build on that idea.
So, who is Ichiro Serizawa to Daisuke Serizawa? Does Daisuke even exist in this version? Who knows? No one until the movie's showing.
Yeah, he's pretty much biologically immortal. No dying of disease or age for him! Dying from other monsters and super-weapons is another thing. Though, those things aren't that hard to shrug off for the most part, so it's okay!
You guys realize that the new roar is a sped up digitized version of the original roar, and that Legenadary added a little more stuff to it. lsiten close to this slowed down version of the new G14:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RPQ5zvX31s
Thus far, the CGI has looked partially unfinished, honestly. I'll pull a Mr. Cranston and say 8.5/10
'54 and 2014.
Yes, I'm playing favorites, but let me be honest; I never liked the roar after it was "fixed." Yes, it sounded better, but I didn't dig it.
Now, with the '54 roar, I am genuinely afraid of it. I hear it and shiver like nothing else.
The 2014 roar does the same. It sends chills down my spine like nothing ever could.
Except the Xenomorph in Alien. Nothing frightens me more than that thing.
When I saw Godzilla for the first time, I thought
It's like the 84 and 91 godzilla had a baby. Wonderful stuff! Excited for this whole production :)
Hearing about people even in the big boss levels who love Godzilla and just want to make the movie they've always wanted as fans gives me so much hope. This is a passion project, not just a quick cash grab and that's what we need more of
that's amazing with ms paint
cranston was talking on howard stern on what he rates scripts. He said breaking bad was 10/10, and Godzilla was a solid 8.5
That shows alot of honesty really, and not jumping to the "10/10 go see this movie!" to promote the movie, 8.5 is good and honest.
please don't kill me for this, i liked the 1998 movie, sure it wasn't godzilla but i enjoyed it because it's a monster flick
my favorite roar is from 1999-2004, and yeah i like the 2014 one
I like them all. The classical roar of the Showa era. The powerful roar of the Heisei era. The modernized and monstrous roar of the Millennium era. The new one is different, but it's tone just says "Godzilla."
At first, I didn't like his feet eigther, but now I think Godzilla's feet were designed to support his weight, like elephants and brontosauruses (although they weren't the original inspiratins for his design).
I think he is going to be Daisuke Serizawa. Ken Watanabe is Ichiro Serizawa.
