I agree on what u said it's very possible for those ridges on his neck could be exhaust vents for his atomic breath. And they are certainly not gills, if I heard or read right I think Godzilla has big enough lungs to almost make them oxygen tanks which allows him to sleep in the water for long periods of time. And yeah your theory could be very possible, nice job man :D
Long Live the King
That is so AWESOME!!!!!! Amazing find.
I'm thinking they'll act as both gills and exhaust vents. I'm curious and interested to see how it'll work exactly.
oh yes, Chris posted it in our Godzilla 2014 FB the muto is Here.
Great work Dopepope, is like a muto on steroids in a badass pose.
I think you're asking "Why are the Mutos fighting Godzilla?"
Well I do have some theories...
1: Every predator has some kind of rival, thus the Mutos are Godzilla's rivals.
2: One of the two species consider San Francisco is part of their 'territory', thus the other is an intruder.
3: The Mutos are genetically made monsters to go after Godzilla, but they got out of control and are now threatening their human creators as well.
When I first glanced at it I thought the CGI looke bad but when really looking at it, it looks awesome! Godzilla seems a little small but then again I'm not sure what the distance is between him and the people looking at him.
As for the gills, IMO it looks about 99.9% certain those are gills. I don't know why Godzilla having gills is a debateable topic, it makes sense since he lives in the ocean.
GODZILLLAFRANCE - Never assume anything my friend.
There is nothing to say he's roaring at a Muto. For all we know, he's just roaring to roar or perhaps to intimidate encroaching military forces.
The only fact about this picture is that he's roaring. Outside of that single fact, we have no idea what he's roaring at. We can speculate all we want, but never fall into the trap of "oh it has to be this!" because the chances are that you're wrong.
Just enjoy the pic for now, and when the movie comes out you'll know what it's about.
Patience is a virtue that many G fans seem to lack these days. Godzilla is less than a month away. You can wait.
A monster shot in clear daylight! Say it ain't so!
Also yes, those are looking more and more like gills.
man why all this it makes me want to see it now and take every Godzilla 2014 thing out there
Well, the American Godzilla (2014) is a realistic take on the 1954 Gojira. The AmeriGoji has a tough armored hide unlike most Gojira who's main defense is fast regeneration rather than tough hide. Thus the American Godzilla can take more of a beating than the other relatives. I mean, if "they were trying to kill it" back in the Nuclear 'tests' in the 50s and it still survived (presumably), I'd say the American Godzilla is tough.
Offensively, as far as melee combat, again I say the American Godzilla. Yes, it's slightly taller than Japanese Gojira, but the American Godzilla has a much bigger build. This bigger size plus its armored hide would make any melee attacks that much more DAMAGING! Edwards was inspired by Bears and Komodo Dragons for the American Godzilla, making a close range fight very bad for your health! Much more lethal than boxing your opponent.
As far as the Atomic Breath, right now (20 days till movie release) we don't know much about the American Godzilla's Atomic Breath.
The 1954 Gojira had a mix of super intense heat and nuclear radiation. Later Japanese Gojira toned down the heat and radiation in favor for intense pressure.
I imagine the American Godzilla being an improved form of 1954 Gojira Atomic Breath. Only I imagine the heat/radiaiton levels being so HIGH that it's like real Nukes, just about nothing could survive the hit. Japanese Gojira's fast regeneration can't stop everything (like too much heat as in the meltdown case). Imagine a the Final Wars Gojira being hit by such intense heat that either he will die from his organs melting or his nuclear reactor going critical.
anything like how did the mutos meet Godzilla and why are they mad
nevermind i might edit this
I like that this one has more of a Tyranosaurus jaw compare to all the classic one which most were very lizard like.
Also CGI looks phenominal I bet through all those trailers weve seen were CGI teases.
Awesome Shot, Thanks for posting..
There was anougher stand alone picture of Godzilla in this thread did it get pulled because it was leaked?
JET JAGGA, JET JAGGA!
PANCH!
PANCH!
PANCH!
Man, I keep thinking I can't get any more pumped for the movie, and everytime I'm proven wrong! Also, that concept looks fantastic! God(zilla), it can't come soon enough!
oh man i hope the SHMA toy looks like that
$60 Million is not a very strong opening weekend, especially with X-Men coming out just a week after. Considering an average of 50% diminishing returns, and probably only a 4-5 week run. That indicates Godzilla will only be bringing in $110-$120 mil domestic. Potentially closer to just $100 depending on how much competition X-Men offers. Out of that, the studio will probably only reap $75 million, the rest going to the theaters. Overall, thin sauce.
What was encouraging, was in one of those Box Office reports, they said the Prints and Advertising budget was only $100 mil. Meaning, the studio only needs to make $260 million to break even, as opposed to a $300-$350 million number that some have previously estimated. Similarly, this basically confirms $500 mil as the 'sequel' point, rather than the $500-$700 mil range that people had been estimating.
Even with a watered down domestic take, the International Box Office is in a strong position to make up the difference...even if Toho takes a 50%+ cut from Japan and/or China decides not to pick up the movie. Basically, long story short, after reading these reports, I've never been more confident of a sequel than I am now.
As far as sequel ideas: There are plenty of good ones that aren't far fetched. The key is to focus on human response to the monsters, rather than the monster duels themselves.
A story line similar to Monsters' premise, of Godzilla/Muto quarantined into 'Zones' and the human struggle to contain them.
Or maybe a darker, post apocalpytic take: fast forward 20 years, and the monsters really have knocked us down several notches, and the movie follows a small band of survivors and how they are forced to live their lives.
Either of those ideas (and many others) could serve as a viable platform for a sequel, while avoiding Toho tropes about alien invasions n' stuff like that.
He's the last of his kind.
Godzilla is surely roaring at a Muto before fighting it
anything akira ifukube did during his time. :)
King Kong vs Godzilla
Godzilla vs Destoroyah
Any Godzilla vs Mothra film
Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II
I kind of got a Walking with Dinosaurs vibe from that track.
