@SonicTiger
I believe the G1 Transformers are the strongest
what is going on
how about Mechagodzilla (MV) vs Destoroyah?
Which are the strongest Transformers iterations?
If it's Bayformers, then any incarnation of MechaGodzilla would likely shake them to pieces with just the quaking of their footsteps. They've got to be the weakest iterations of the characters considering how easily they fall to conventional, handheld military weapons. I mean, regular firearms were rendering them blind in the the third one.
How about MonsterVerse, RPO, and Earth Mecha G

y e s
and again i have no knowledge at all of Transformers
Definitely depends on which iterations of MechaGodzilla and the Autobots.
that's called false advertising
All I'm saying is, I usually feel a bit wronged when movies don't deliver what they promise in the marketing.
sonictiger,
While I do think there's merit to how personal expectation is met based on how a film is advertised, I do not think marketing should be one of the variables used to judge a film's quality.
Godzilla Vs. Kong advertised a bonkers battle and it gave us an absolutely bonkers battle. Kong: Skull Island promised more screentime to the title character since Godzilla '14 failed to do so.
So yeah, you're right. It's probably why I think GVK and KSI are the stronger films and G14 and KOTM are the weaker films.
k :)
ill redraw it from the beginning cause 1: i dunno where the old one is
2: outdated art
3: it wasnt very long anyway
i hereby alive this topic.
should i still write that Robot Masters vs FW Gigan? i remember being so pumped about it i even drew a comic which of course never got finished lol
then again, i never started writing it
sonictiger,
That isn't the first time WB did this. Bryan Cranston is an infinitely bigger name than Millie Bobby Brown and he was advertised front and center as the main character for Godzilla '14. The ads and trailers made it look like Cranston was going to go up against a villainous Godzilla and we ended up getting something different.
To be fair, regardless of their quality, Godzilla vs. Kong and Kong: Skull Island were probably the two most honestly advertised of the Monsterverse.
Also, they basically set up Madison for a larger role but didn't even have the decency to follow through with that in Godzilla Vs. Kong. So it was all basically a wasted effort on WB's part because they were claiming they were doing all this stuff with an insanely popular actress when in truth they weren't.
The thing is, the fact that they were advertising Millie so much (due to name value) makes WB look more pathetic than they already are as they're basically saying that they have no faith in this movie being watched. They went to insane degrees to push the fact that they had an insanely popular Emmy-Nominated actress in this movie about monsters beating the heck out of one another just because they're not sure how many US Godzilla fans are there and they don't know if casual viewers will care about the movie so they're basically bribing you to see it at this point.
What's annoying about KOTM is that sure Madison did stuff but WB forced the claim that she was the main character so far up our [REDACTED] that people were expecting that and then....we all know what happened.
I wouldn't be surprised if they go in that direction either, they did tease the idea of Kong finding others of his kind in the Hollow Earth during GvK. I think the idea of Kong interacting with other Kongs is a really interesting idea. The only time that's been done was in King Kong Lives, and while that movie is really bad, the idea of Kong finding a mate is a cool concept and, if done right, it could make for an amazing movie.
I meant to say Shimidah instead of Shinomurah. My apologies.
@SasquaDash: I really like that idea, and it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if that’s the direction the next MonsterVerse film will go in. It’s much more realistic than Kong fighting Gororsaurus or King Caesar.
Plus, the rumor that the next MonsterVerse film will be titled “Son of Kong” gives some credence to this theory. However, we should keep in mind that the Hollywood Reporter article that originally reported on this rumor stated that “Son of Kong” was only one of many titles that were being tossed around. So it’s entirely possible that the next film won’t be Kong centric at all, or maybe it’ll revolve around Kong discovering more members of his species in the Hollow Earth, but he won’t have a son.
high school in a nutshell
Hear me out,
What if the next MonsterVerse film focused on Kong finding more of his kind, the major conflict being his attempts to fit in with them? Think about it, Kong's been alone for most of his life, he's never interacted with another member of his species, so how would he react to being among other Kongs? How would they react to him? Living in isolation on Skull Island may have resulted in Kong behaving differently than the rest of his kind. Maybe the Hollow Earth Kongs view him as an outcast. Kong wants to be part of the group, but for the most part the others don't want him around. This could lead to a pretty emotional story, Kong's finally found others of his kind, yet he's still alone. Kong's journey could be him trying to gain the trust and respect of the group. Another conflict could arise from the social structure of the group, Kong's used to being the ruler of Skull Island and "bowing to no one", so what happens when he has to follow the command of others? Maybe the troop is being lead by a older, aggressive, battle worn silverback who views Kong as a threat to his leadership. This could eventually lead to Kong challenging the silverback which could lead to a massive battle for dominance. Maybe at the end of the film Kong defeats the silverback or ends up defeating another titan that threatens the troop, allowing become the leader of the troop and finally earning the title of "King Kong". Kong could also find a mate within the troop, finally giving him the happy ending that he rightfully deserves.
GvK really didn’t Celeb bait, sure they had famous actors, but it was no where near the advertising of Millie Bobbie Brown for KOTM
I don’t really hate him, sure he was unnecessary but I was expecting that
a lot of people didn't like Josh but i actually didn't mind him
Finally, someone who actually likes Madison
Even if Rodan had celeb-baiting like KOTM and GVK, it would not work whatsoever.
HinikunaGoji,
It's made $166M world wide off a $185M budget. It hasn't even cleared its budget and still needs to make another $100M+ just to break even. It won't happen.
I fear a solo Monsterverse Rodan movie, for example, would be a similar bust.
Decent doesn’t mean bad. I just wouldn’t expect a superhero movie to be an artistic masterpiece. Though I didn’t go see it so I wouldn’t know.
And after researching Suicide Squad did flop. It only made back 14% of budget
Anyhow, I think Kong needs to fight revamped versions of his 2005 monsters and some original content similar to the Skullcrawlers and Warbats and Hell Hawks. I think a mix of both is in order.
DECENT?!?!?!? DECENT????? Anyhow, I would say if the movie doesn't have the title of Godzilla or Kong....Yeah, it could flop hard. And I don't think moviegoers will fall for celeb-baiting for a third time since Millie Bobby Brown was wasted twice.
I already made an article on this, so I'll stop here.
If the Monsterverse is to continue, it can not rely on Toho IP. Including Toho's most popular monsters didn't sell King of the Monsters on the general audience in any territory, even Japan. So spending money on licensing fees for even less popular characters seems like a bad idea. It needs to find a different way to go about things if it has any intention of surviving.
HinikunaGoji,
I was referring to 2021. It's a decent movie and all, but it's relatively obscure comic book material that has become one of the biggest financial flops of the year.
I think doing the same with obscure Toho IP would lead to similar results--Good movie or not.
none, really. I’ve already voiced my thoughts up there
those are monsters Godzilla should fight in my opinion
