The MonsterVerse wasted it's most promising human character, but they can still fix this certain character.

Kong. What's maddening about this is that she had seemingly been set up to play a larger part in GVK following the events of Godzilla: King of The Monsters. Yet instead the character was forced into a poorly written secondary arc that added nothing and featured two equally terrible comedic relief characters. So, let's dive into how she was wasted and how the character can still be fixed in a potential Godzilla 3.
Here we go....
Part 1 - King of The Monsters
Anyways, the first thing to consider is that WB and Legendary pushed Madison to the frontline of the marketing pre-release making her look like the main character when in truth Mark Russell (Kyle Chandler) was the main protagonist while Maddie was just a secondary main character. But, she ended up being the hero of the movie when she managed to use the ORCA to lure in Ghidorah to Boston where Godzilla was also heading to. It stopped the Titans from destroying Earth as they all converged to Boston eventually. I honestly think it's funny how people say Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga) was the hero just for sacrificing herself. No. Just no. Madison saved the day by luring the bad guy in, and that's that. It was clear they were setting her up for a bigger role in GVK. But as we know, that's not how it went...
Part 2 - Godzilla Vs. Kong
Sigh....this is my favorite MonsterVerse movie, but boy does it have problems. GVK's biggest weakness is once again the human characters like it's predecessors (minus Kong: Skull Island). But the Team Godzilla storyline added so little to the movie. Madison's entire character was undermined by this terrible subplot. There's no solo coming-of-age hero story. It's just a predictable mystery arc. It ignored the bigger role that had been set up for Madison, instead making her a side character once again. It was one of the most frustrating aspects of the movie, and even with Millie Bobby Brown's solid acting it does not work. It just doesn't.
Part 3 - Godzilla 3 can fix Madison
Even with the inexplicable wasting of Madison in GVK, the character can still get the solo arc that she rightfully deserved in Godzilla 3. I think that Godzilla 3 should firmly place her as the main human character this time around. I feel like there has been 3 sides to the human spectrum of the MonsterVerse. The first is the people who know nothing about the conflict, which is what Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor Johnson) sort of represented. And then there's the people who think the Titans are dangerous, like Mark Russell. Madison, in some ways represents the embodiment of humans that believe the Titans are creatures of good will. We've seen the first two sides be the main focus of the conflicts of the first two movies (Godzilla 2014 and KOTM). Godzilla 3 should have Madison Russell as it's main human character for that reason. Also, she's one of the more engaging human characters of the MonsterVerse. I just think that this particular character deserves much more than what's been given. And if Godzilla 3 can correct the mistakes made by it's predecessors, it'll be all the more better for the MonsterVerse's Godzilla solo series.
So seriously, do Millie Bobby Brown's character justice this time around.
