Why I Think Kong Should Win In Godzilla Vs Kong

However, this does not go without saying that I am rooting for him, because when it comes to whom I want to win in Godzilla vs Kong, I think Kong should come on top, and here’s why...
As many of you probably already know, GvK director Adam Wingard has confirmed that there is going to be a definite victor in the film, so it would seem a team up won’t be included in the movie (but I guess we can’t know for sure until the movie comes out). Now, if GvK were a standalone film, or the first in the franchise, I would actually be rooting for Godzilla. However, it’s neither of those, so I’m not. Let me explain why this effects how I believe the story should play out.
Every film is split into thirds: the first act, the second act, and the third act. Almost every Godzilla movie consists of at least two battles. The first and second fights are set in the first and second acts of the film, and they establish the feud between Godzilla and his enemy. The last battle is set in the third act of the film, which finishes the feud. Normally, the first battles are left ambiguous, or with a winner, and the last battle is finally taken by the other adversary. So far, Monsterverse Godzilla has won every end battle (the big battle) that he is in.
If you follow this format with the whole Monsterverse (not including Skull Island), the first two thirds belong to Godzilla. At the end of the first act (Godzilla 2014) he is the winner of the battle (with the MUTO’s), and in the second act (KotM), he is the winner of that battle (with Ghidorah), becoming king of the titans.
Now lets say Godzilla does win the last battle (GvK, or “the third act”). He will have won every fight in the whole story, meaning there will be no unpredictability or twists and turns. It will be the equivalent to the MUTO’s winning every battle in G14, or Ghidorah winning every battle in KotM. One of the great things about cinema is the surprises and development to the story. Godzilla winning every fight within the same universe would eventually get monotonous, and Kong winning would add spice and development to the Monsterverse.
Thanks for reading through this whole thing (if you did). Who do you think should win, and why?
