Showa still the best Godzilla?

Got to thinking; The Showa G hardly ever lost a battle except against Mothra and the oxygen destroyer, so with his with his winning streak is he widely considered the best? I mean I love all versions of the big G, just kind of speculating.

He also needed help moreso than any other Godzilla. After losing to humans(buried him in ice), King Kong, and then Mothra, he finally beat Ghidorah with the help of Rodan, and Mothra, then again with the help of only Rodan, afterwards the movies go off and on in terms of help.

There's also the fact he plays the hero in most of the showa movies so it's more natural for him to win and easier to write.
