Godzilla was never part of the Anguirus family. They added that into the most horribly dubbed Godzilla movie of all time aka Gigantis the Fire Monster.
The same reason they never called him Godzilla because they didn't know what they were doing watching that movie subbed was like a breath of fresh air. Godzilla Raids Again was a pretty good movie, Gigantis the Fire Monster is horrible though
GODZILLA 2014 RULES - That's a very interesting question you've asked! Indeed, as we witnessed in Godzilla Raids Again, Anguirus and Godzilla are both members of the same ancient lineage of giant "Fire Monsters". If I recall correctly, Anguirus is said to "rise up after being resurrected by atmoic energy to lay terrible waste to Mankind" or something to that extent. At any rate, it is possible that Anguirus might make an appearance in a future film, though I can't speak to his lineage. If Edwards envisioned Anguirus as a member of Godzilla's genetic family, that could be quite interesting... :)
Godzilla Raids Again, the Japanese original, not that horrible American Gigantis, the Fire Monster version, Raids Again was a good movie.
Godzilla and Anguirus are ancient enemies, I don't recall "family tree" thing, but I might rewatch it when I get a chance. Its been awhile since I watched it.
It's been many years since I've actually watched the English version of Godzilla Raids Again. I forgot it made Godzilla (Gigantis) and Anguirus part of the same family species. Lets just negate anything added by english dubs... :/
