True American Godzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeMay-12-2014 2:46 PMIf you mean the movie, then yes I think it would be better. If you mean the monster, again I see the American Godzilla being stronger/better (though a mirror of the 1954 Japanese Gojira).

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-12-2014 2:59 PMI'm sure that this movie will be one greatest moment for hardcore fans, but as for better than 1954? I would be 100% sure when I say...... NO.
One thing this movie going off of both interviews and reviews. This movie more focus on man attempt to control nature than the horror of nuclear holocaust and they're results.
Not to mention that 1954 focus on the title star himself and how he can bring the end of mankind because of the mistake man did to him.
While we barely get to see the monster nor is he the focus of the movie, this will more likely be a MUTO movie featuring Godzilla. Gareth Edward got the characters and setting right, but what might be the problem is that movie title and the early trailers we saw, leads audience to believe they're getting godzilla with the other monster being side star when it the other way around.
If they want that, then they should watch both Gojira and The Return of Godzilla both the original and american version respectably.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-12-2014 3:19 PMI see your point guys, the 1954 one was probably the first movie to show nuclear and atomic horror. I just have a feeling that the 2014 might be as good or even better than the first one. but then again I might be wrong.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-12-2014 4:48 PMI'm not trying to start a world war, but I cannot fathom that this new film will be better than the original. Very seldom is there a remake that trumps the original. Let's kep in mind that this is NOT a remake, but a reboot and it should not be compared at all to the original (in my opinion.) As a fan since I was 4 years old, the original (the Japanese original) will always stand above the rest as far as story and delivery is concerned. Will this movie look better than the original? Well, obviously, but story wise, I doubt that this film will create the same sense of hopelessness and desolation that the Japanese were trying to capture.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-12-2014 6:27 PMWell I think your asking the wrong question, no godzilla movie will ever be better than the first. The right question is, will it be on equal ground with the original. And in my opinion, yes it will. I personaly think that people are also looking at this movie the wrong way, Godzilla isnt the only one carrying symbolism, the humans of this story will also carry symbolism such as family, and mans arrogance towards nature.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-12-2014 7:23 PMWell, I wish I could say that no one thinks that, but, in reality, I'm sure some people are so ridiculously over-hyped that they think it will be.
