So I have a question: is Godzilla supposed to be like the symbol for Mother nature, like protecting the earth, or is he still supposed to be the symbol of nucleur warfare?

Ok let me answer this in the new movie he is like the symbol for Mother nature, like protecting the earth. But in the Original movie he was a symbol of nucleur warfare

There are strong men and weak men. The strong ones are here to keep the weak ones up when ever they fail.

There is no real symbolism, meaning or allegory attached to  Godzilla, and rightly so.

The 1954 movie had relevance to the japanese people but lets face it, the rest is just fun and entertainment.

JOHNSMITH, you couldnt be any more wrong. Have you seen Gojira? It's not an entertaining film, it's torturous. It makes you feel incredibly awful for living in a country(assuming you live in the US) that knowingly wiped out innocent lives of thousands instantaneously. The only reason why the film is cloaked as a monster causing destruction is because the US had strict rule over what was published back then in Japan. And there obvously wouldn't be a film that showed the devastation the US created.

Not all gods have to represent an aspect of life or culture.  I imagine some are simply gods because they're unstoppable titans of power with little regard for lesser creatures such as ourselves.

Well considering his name is actually, "Gojira" meaning "Gorilla-Whale". Nothing specifically. It was only translated to "Godzilla" in English, for well, I don't know the reason. However, fans have all kind of just given him the label of being the King of monsters. So I guess thats the answer to your question . . . Maybe

GODZILLA'SWRATH - I've a strong feeling that Godzilla in Edwards' upcoming film is a representation of Mother Nature's wrath due to our irresponsible use of atomic power. This is a very interesting topic you've brought forward! :)

If I am not mistaken, wasn't he considered a God on Odo Island in the orginal 1954 classic? Maybe it's the same thing in this movie. I think that maybe when they were doing "nuclear tests" on the island in the Pacific, they found an ancient tribe who worships Godzilla as a God and so that is why Serizawa and Sandra call him a God. That's my theory.

@Frozen - But they call him a God in one of the recent trailers (forgot which one) so maybe he is just a God in this upcoming film.

This is the easiest question that has ever been asked on this forum:

Godzilla is the god of ass-kicking.  I thought everybody knew that.

There is a reason why there are no purpose movies pitting Godzilla against Superman, or the Avengers, or the X-Men, or all the Marvel and DC superheroes, combined.  Because THEY ALL WOULD GET THEIR ASSES KICKED (or scorched) with 15 minutes.  And then that would be the end of the superhero genre.  We would have to go back to westerns and detectve stories and Betty Davis type movies.  The only character that could wipe the floor with Godzilla is Bugs Bunny, the true God.  But Bugs is too cool to get involved in such violence.

Both. He will always be a symbol of Nuclear Destruction. It is what he was created to be a symbol of by Toho. He is also a symbol of Mother Nature's wrath. When Humanity over steps it's bounderies, Mother Nature awakens Godzilla to restore order. He is both, by all means. He may lean more to the side of Nuclear Destruction, but he is still both. Mother Nature's Gaurdian and a warning to Mankind.

I like to think that Godzilla is "The God Of Destruction" personally.

the only reason hes considered a god is because hes indestructible. they shot him with nukes, the most powerful weapons known to mankind and he survived
