Burned Godzilla?

I noticed in the Empire Cover of Godzilla that it looks like he is missing some skin around the neck and chest area. I remember in the first movie, they attempted to give Godzilla's flesh a burnt texture to pay tribute to the victims of Hiroshima. Anybody else notice this in the cover picture? Maybe his skin got burned after they dropped the nuclear bombs on him when they were supposedly doing those tests in the 50's.

Yeah I'm almost certain they are radiation burns (could be wrong though). But there are also slashesin his skin and I'm not sure what they are from, muto maybe?

Honestly I don't see it. I see his skin glowing a reddish color becuase there is fire right next to him, below him, and in his right hand as if he grabbed a plane or something.

But I see no burns at all. I do see his gills though!

Hi Def and in all his glory! Check his neck and his gills are there! Awesome!
