Sounds to me like Sept. 2nd is about right. A lot of retail get movies, music...etc... in about two weeks before their street date. I'm not sure if it works the same for Amazon, but I would bank on the Spet. 2nd release now.

Highdef digest hasn't had them listed since the first release date came and went but just listed them today for Aug. 26th. I don't know what to belive anymore. I will be so glad when this is just over and done with. GMAN hit it right between the eyes with his comments about this company. God help us if they pick up any more G titles!

I've yet to get Godzilla vs. Megalon. Not going to bother with Destroy All Monsters since I got Media Blasters original release of that years back. Having trouble finding the Megalon Blu though.

There're only 3 movies left, as far as I know, that need to be released in the USA in their original Japanese cuts. "King Kong vs Godzilla", "King Kong Escapes", and "The Return of Godzilla".

My order is still pre-ordered on Amazon.  I haven't recieved word that my order is backordered, so I'm crossing my fingers that no news is good news.  I'll know tomorrow since that's when Amazon says it's getting released.

I read last night that Amazon keeps to the dates they have listed whether something is shipped early or not. So Amazon won't be shipping anything until tomorrow. (I don't think they ship on Labor Day.)

Don't know why my posts keep disapearing. Anywho, as of this morning amazon was back-ordered or temp. out of stock on megalon and listed 5 available on monsters. This is just crazy on the part of media blasters. Who knows when they will get around to making more copies if at all. I have a feeling if their movie tanks then thats all folks, ass blasters close their doors.

My bluray copies from Ebay of both movies both get here today, just hoping they are legit copies and not bootlegs. Rarely buy DVD/Blurays from them for that reason but took a chance for my G collection. Fingers crossed............

I saw that on Amazon too.  Not sure if my order got placed or is on back-order.  I'm now fearing that it's the latter.

I agree concerning Media Blasters.  Only making 5000 copies of each is pathetic.  This seems more like a hostage situation than anything else.  Though I doubt the movies did poorly since it seems they sold all the copies already.  That's good news for them, bad news for us.  After the first fiasco with these films and now this current one, Media Blasters needs to close it's doors for good and the rights to these films being picked up by a company that is actually going to put some effort into it.  I shudder to think of them buying the rights to other films I like.  I'll be beside myself if they announce they got the rights to Son of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla.

Got a response from Amazon after asking them what was up with my order.  They gave me very non-commital answers simply repeating what the site already says: "Temp out of stock" and "usually ships within 12 days".  They did upgrade my order to free overnight shipping, but with Media Blasters track record I don't trust it, even with their recent vague FB post they put up a few hours ago.

So I simply bit the bullet and ordered off of ebay(something I never do).  Supposedly I'll get it around next week Tuesday.  Hopefully it's legit.  If it is and the seller still has copies on sale after I get it, I'll post here that it's safe.

Plus I didn't cancel my Amazon order.  If Amazon suddenly restocks within a week, I guess I'll have two copies.  Not something I want to do, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

Just got both blurays today from ebay. Megalon looked ok and am presently watching DAM. I'd say roll the dice as everyone else is sold out. I'd swear Megalon is the Japanese version, there were alternate sceens and the dialog was tweeked a little bit. I've watched it so many times so I know it pretty well. there were some very rough edits too. all in all worth the money and waiting.

^Glad you enjoyed it. Not sure if I'll be able to get my hands on one. Apparently Media Blasters only printed 5000 copies of each film... I won't cry when they go out of business.

Just finished Destroy All Monsters. They re-did the subtitles on it also. And really bad too. In the scene when running from Rodan the co-pilot says "It sucks running, why can't we fight" or something close to that. When he says "what do you think? Can we out run him?" in the dvd. Useless changes like that just annoy the crap out of me. I don't know what they did to this movie but the mat scenes look pretty bad. The model scenes are flat but the people are super sharp. Megalon didn't look like this, in fact it looked great. really disapointed in this one. Any luck on Megalon GMAN? I got mine from ebay, worth a shot.

Amazon may actually be getting more in stock.  I got an email from them saying that their estimate for shipping the items has moved up (telling me my order could be shipped out by Tuesday the 9th).  What else could such a notification mean?

If true they either that they got a shipment late or were holding out on us. My guess is the former.

This is just my opinion but I think Media Blasters delayed this long on purpose. They timed this release to coincide with the filming of their first in house movie to have some quick cash on hand to finish it up. They had them finished then sat on them and then they suddenly announce they are shipping them out to stores? Oh please. They needed money and Godzilla gave it to them. Plain and simple.

Switching topics a bit, I noticed Wal-Mart now has an exclusive cover for Godzilla '14, but I can't figure out if it has any exclusive content with it. My sleuths are all asleep on the job at this point. Anyone with some information on that?

Sorry about the rant. I looked it up GMAN and as far as I can tell there is nothing extra that I can see. All the extras in it are available on the digital copy on VUDU. Just a different cover to make the diehards double and triple dip.

I can confirm that Amazon must have gotten another shipment because I just an email saying that my order has shipped out.  But it looks like all the copies they got may have been used to fulfill back-orders since Megalon is still listed as "usually ships in 12 days".  Though DAM is now listed as "In stock but may require an extra 1-2 days to process".

And Walmart does seem to be listing the same extras as the other versions.

9 days until Godzilla emerges on DVD and Blu-ray!!!! :D I have the roaring Metalpak on preorder, but I think I'm gonna have to get that Target version too... because I have a problem. 8D

Plus, my Megalon Blu-ray is probably gonna ship out tomorrow, and I'll be picking up the three new Sony Blu-ray sets from Barnes & Noble on Tuesday!  The guy who usually checks me out (stop smiling... seriously, stop... I meant behind the counter!) is a HUGE Godzilla fan, and I always have super long conversations with him ever time I come in!  He had the full Godzilla 2014 film laying on the screen in the movie section last time I was there!  How awesome is that?! :D

^It depends, but usually full MSRP, unfortunately. :( Sometimes they put new stuff out for a discounted price, but I talked to the guy there, and he said that for a few months after the film's release in theaters, all of the numb 1 selling DVDs and Blu-rays were Godzilla movies!  As awesome as that is, it means they probably won't discount them if they know people are coming in to buy them.

I was gonna preorder them through Amazon, but I wanted to support my physical bookstore, as they are quickly becoming an endangered species.  Plus, I always enjoy walking into a store and walking out with Godzilla stuff, because (at least before this year) that pretty much never happened.  And... I wanted them release day! XD

I sprung for the roaring metal pack too. Got a shipping notice from amazon (at 3 a.m. no less! i have got to take my email off my phone!!) so my mothras an godzillas are on the way. If a store around here had them I would have no problem paying full price for them.

@GMAN:

Thanks, man! :) Yeah, with the advent of eBooks, physical print is gonna be going the way of the VHS within my lifetime.  It breaks my heart, as nothing will replace the feeling of turning a page with your own hands.  Imagine a world where turning pages is as "antiquated" at putting a vinyl on a turntable. :(

@Gorillagodzilla:

Thats awesome!  I have Megalon on preorder from Amazon, so naturally it isn't here yet. -_- Hopefully I'll be getting it this week.  I'm fortunate enough to have the special features laden DVD and Blu-ray of Destroy All Monsters, and... drumroll please... the uber rare leaked special edition of Megalon on DVD!!!!!!!!  I was one of the lucky bastards who got it for MSRP when the leak occured! XD But I still want the Blu-ray, because knowing Media Blasters, it won't be around for long, and I would like all the Godzilla films in that format one day!

I got Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla Vs. Megalon on Blu-Ray today. I have to say that I am disappointed with the Destroy All Monsters release. I have the original DVD Release from Media Blasters, which has the AIP dub of the movie. This new blu-ray DOES NOT have it. I am really pissed actually. This is my favorite movie and the AIP dub is what I grew up with. This is just a bare-bones, no extras release. It isn't even close to what the first release had to offer.

As for the Godzilla vs Megalon release, it is just like the DVD. No extras, just bare-bones.

I hope Media Blasters fails and they don't release any more Godzilla movies.

^Ouch!

Time for a history lession... its actually not ENTIRELY Media Blaster's fault that these new disks are barebones.  The original DAM DVD/BD went out of print because Medial Blasters packed those disks with bonus features, but Toho said no-ho and made them pull the release.  Turns out they didn't get all the bonus features approved before release, so Toho got pissed.  However, Media Blasters was able to get the rights to release barebones versions of DAM and Megalon, so fans who got screwed when Toho made them stop making the original versions could at least get the movie in some form.  They did the best they could with what Toho would allow them to use.  Thats why the DAM BD lacks the AIP sub and the bonus features.

So long story short, even though Media Blasters should have gone throught the pases with the bonus features the first time around, Toho is largely to blame here.  There is NO REASON why those bonus features shouldn't have been perfectly acceptable for any releases of these two movies.

^Well, then technically it is entirely Media Blasters fault. Had they waited and gone through the proper channels to have these discs approved, Toho might have been more lenient with the extras. The fact is much of the extras were borrowed or bought from North American fans' personal libraries and collections. (The movie stills, for example.)

The problem with that is rights issues with specific crew members / actors' faces work differently in Japan and had to be approved through more channels. When Media Blasters released the disc without that approval Toho was pissed because it positioned them in a potentially rough bind with other estates and represenatives.

The chain reaction of Media Blasters' actions are now felt with every Godzilla release. At the very best most new releases are only getting trailers for extras. (Kraken Releasing and Sony) It looks like Toho's new policy is that all special features must come from them and, quite frankly, all they seem to be budging on are trailers.

Media Blasters didn't even get that much it seems, which isn't surprising considering the blunders it's made in front of Toho. Yes, Toho is extremely difficult to work with, but Media Blasters didn't make it any easier on themselves. They should have waited it out with the original DAM disc.

^Good points.  Yeah, I've heard a bunch of people that have worked with Media Blasters commenting on how lousy their business practices are.  Its too bad, as they used to be, arguably, the best in the game with their old, non-Godzilla kaiju releases.  Great video quality, great audio, and a ton of special features.  Their failure with the two Godzilla titles is definitely paving the way for other barebones releases in the future.  Very unfortunate.

Got my blu rays of Megalon and DAM today.  Actually, since I was worried about Amazon not being able to restock, I got two of each today.  One from Amazon, one from eBay.  Which is not what I wanted to have happen.  I was hoping Amazon would be slower so I could cancel my order with them when the eBay ones arrived.  I don't like the idea of having extra copies when there are other people scrambling to get them.

And extras in Godzilla films weren't widespread to begin with.  Classic Media had ones for their DVD releases and Criterion Collection had extras for the blu ray of Gojira.  Echo Bridge had one thing for Biollante.  Never watched it though.  But I think that was it.  Sony never gave you extras beyond trailers for films you didn't want to see. Universal didn't give you anything for the King Kong ones and now even took away having a main menu screen for their blu ray release.  I have a DVD release of DAM from ADV Films and that was just the barebones film that was only dubbed (Though the cover art was sweet).

Does anybody know if the first Mothra was ever released by itself on dvd? All I can find is a 3 movie set.
