MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 5:38 PMI can clearly assume that everyone that daily checks this website is a G-fan to the 100th degree. Now that the marketing campaign has offically gone full steam into the mainstream, the not so hardcore fans and public masses have started turning their heads to this collosal film, asking blitzkrieg questions like:
"Is this Pacific Rim 2/Cloverfield 2?"
"Why did they change the design from the original film....the one with the babies in the hockey stadium?!?!"
So, If you have similar situations like this, and die inside everytime you hear them, feel free to share in the comments!

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 5:53 PMI don't know how is in other countries, but in Guatemala, the most famous Godzilla is that of Hanna-Barbera. Zilla is just remembered very far away, but the famous Godzilla with Godzooki is the top one in the mind of people. Besides, as "Godzilla 2000" was presented in the country, some people have an idea of the actual Japanese big G, appart from the well stablished groups of fans of the Japanese culture (Otakus).
The real problem is not Zilla, but the Power Rangers!!! Yes, many people think in silly suits and paper buildings when you mention Japanese Godzilla, that is the real deal with the big G in my country.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 5:57 PMreally i think they are just joking, not mocking it, besides a lot of non gfans have reacted to the new trailer better than the teaser trailer.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 6:04 PMThere haven't been too many comments like that that I've seen. Overall response has pretty positive, which is good. I just wish the response was a little LARGER. X-Men and Spiderman are averaging 25 million views per trailer.
Such comments are obviously allowed to annoy you on the inside.
But on the outside be sure to put a calm and friendly foot forward.
We need to make sure we don't follow in the footsteps of other fandoms and get so hung up on 'being right' and correcting them that we forget to be friendly. Nothing will sink Godzilla 2014 faster than fanboys alienating the lay audience that needs to show up for the movie to make money. We need to persuade them to go see it, not drive them away with nerdgasmic rage.
That being said, yeah, some of those comments annoy the crap out of me. I recently had somebody tell me the trailer turned him off because he thought it was unrealistic/over the top that the nukes DIDN'T kill Godzilla.............it's....ah....that's THE POINT. IT"S A RADIOACTIVE MONSTER>>>>A PARABLE AGAINST NUCLEAR TESTING>>>>>>OF COURSE NUKES WON'T KILL HIM>>>>>>>DO YOU KNOW NOTHING YOU BANDWAGONING MORON?????.....that's not what I told him....but that's how it made me feel.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 6:09 PMmadison is very right, even the fake or short lived fans are good becuase 1. they show that the movie is good and 2. even if they are not 'true fans' they do make the movie more succesful, some may even become permantant gfans, altough that depends if they like the older movies.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 6:15 PMI agree with Madison. I watched the trailer with friends who were not 'educated on Godzilla' and knowing that I'm into all things comic-booky, were asking me about the origins of Godzilla, who the other monsters are...etc.
Yeah, some people mention the 1998 face palm....but I assure them that was no way in in hell Godzilla King of the Monsters as I press play on Godzilla Final Wars DVD to show them his true bad-assery!

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 6:21 PMyou showed them final wars, you fool, that is a godzilla fan movie, you should've shown them GMK

AdminGiganFeb-27-2014 6:25 PMGodzilla is everywhere in Pop Culture, had been for a very longtime. I don't see how someone would not know of it even if they don't like the movies.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 7:07 PMI've already met way too many people who are asking is this a sequel to the 1998 film. It hurts! I wish the trailer would have had a big text saying: THIS FILM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SONY'S GODZILLA!

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-27-2014 7:48 PMI've showed the trailer to about everyone at my college and they are all extremely excited to see it and none of them are G-fans like us. And surprisingly, none of them mentioned the Zilla movie.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-28-2014 5:34 AMThe problem this movie will face is that the average movie goer wants to have the story spoon fed to them - hence Monsters did not do very well in the cinemas. Godzilla is gearing up to be a thinking person's movie, with some kaiju action.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-28-2014 12:38 PMWhen I read the comments from the trailer on Youtube, I mostly see people that are excited and can't wait for the movie (and a lot of Breaking Bad jokes), but then there's also quite a bit of people criticizing the movie and saying things along the lines of:
it's unrealistic
it's just another typical hollywood remake
the cgi is bad
Godzilla should be in Japan not in America
they stole the music from 2001: A Space Odyssey
it's gonna be Cloverfield all over again
it's unoriginal
another boring cgi fest
typical 'Murica movie
I don't die inside, but it does kind of piss me off seeing those kinds of comments. What does make me die inside is when people think this is a sequel or that it's related to the 98 Godzilla or that the 98 Godzilla was better because it was more realistic.
