MemberMothra LarvaeJan-30-2014 6:04 PMif godzilla were to die near the end of new series how would want him to die? obviously we dont want another zilla incident. so what would be the most respectful way to put an end to his reign?

"I don't understand the love of seeing Godzilla go all wicked witch. I'd much rather see him explode-- but that is just me."
I might be remembering this wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the way Godzilla's meltdown worked was that he would start to melt from the heat inside his body, but when his body was too damaged to contain his energy, he would've exploded with incredible force, which the JSDF managed to prevent by freezing him to keep his energy levels relatively low. I'm not sure how he could've destroyed the Earth by simply melting.
And as for Kyero, I'm getting really sick of your arrogant attitude, and I would love to prove why you're wrong about the subject of whether Godzilla could survive a nuke, but I have a feeling that, like I've seen on several other threads, you won't come back here to see people disprove your so-called "facts." Maybe I'll make a separate thread on the topic and see if you go there to try and debunk my argument.

I know he was suppose to explode-- and to me that was far more interesting. At least it goes more with the whole "bomb metaphor' that everyone loves. Melting just didn't do it for me. Everything about Godzilla is spectacle, and personally-- I think melting is more eighties gore movie spectacle than bad-ass explosion.
I think Godzilla really got screwed in Destroyer, its one of my least favorite movies. He has no 'victory' or moment of 'screw you humans' like he needed, they really pushed the 'tragic monster angle' hardcore, and its fine in small doses, but I felt like it was shoved down my throat the whole film.
I wanted to see him grab the murderer of his son, hold him there, and start to meltdown with Destroyer in his grasp-- not have the military take 'er out. For me, that movie just missed too many opportunities...
But then again, in my opinion, all films meant to 'end a franchise' usually suck. I'm talking long winded franchises, like Godzilla, not final films in trilogies.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-01-2014 3:55 AMwell in the end of GvsD godzilla does win in a sense, his son is resserrected and will continue his farther's legecy. although i'd wished godzilla was the one to kill destroyah instead of the humans.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-04-2014 10:45 PMYeah, that is the one really big problem I have with that movie (it's my favorite overall, though), especially because it originaly actually did end with Godzilla killing Destoroyah- in fact, it happened pretty much exactly as you described, with Godzilla holding Destoroyah in his grasp as he started to meltdown- but they decided to change it because they wanted Godzilla to have center stage as he died. You can watch it on Youtube by searching "Godzilla vs Destoroyah alternate ending," it's actually fully edited aside from the SFX. I still can't figure out why they couldn't edit it so that he kills Destoroyah and then has his death scene, so that they could give both Godzilla and Destoroyah a respectful death.
