MemberMothra LarvaeJan-13-2014 12:44 PMHey folks! I have found something really interessting. In one of the behind the scene video there was said that the people running away from a tsunami that was generade by something in the ocean! Is it a Muto? Or really Godzilla!? Comment below! Tsunami in Godzilla!?

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-13-2014 12:55 PMIt doesn't look like that to me. The tsunami can come from just about anything that has the power to generate it, and Godzilla, big as he is, cannot generate a tsunami.
Some would argue that his atomic breath could, but the laws of physics would argue to the contrary.

GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeJan-13-2014 1:35 PMhe could probably make a surge of water that would apear like a tsunami to whoever happens to be in front of it
king of the monsters

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-13-2014 3:10 PMSo you guys think there's a tsunami in a Godzilla film without Godzilla being a part of the tsunami somehow? Interesting.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-13-2014 3:28 PMno, this better not turn into just a desaster movie with the monsters just being in the background i will be soooooooooo pissed.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-13-2014 4:26 PMGTBETTA35 Ikr Godzilla's gonna be like 500 feet or so and yes there cant just be a tsunami in the movie and will have nothing to do with Godzilla. Godzilla's a GOD so of course hes gonna cause the tsunami

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-13-2014 4:35 PMI think he could make a tsumami if he came from space and came through earths atmosphere and crashed into the sea at a unimaginable speeds.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-13-2014 6:15 PMGuys, it's simple physics.
Godzilla, as large as he is, cannot displace enough water on his own to create a tsunami.
What causes a tsunami? Vertical displacement of a large colmumn of water, and to date, the only forces capable of creating a tsunami are medium to high scale earthquakes, rare underwater volcanic eruptions, and large meteorite impacts within the ocean.
Godzilla, as large as he is, cannot displace the kind of water or create the kind of kinetic energy it takes to start a tsunami.
@ BTBETTA35 - Yes, Godzilla is not a part of the tsunami. As I just explained, because of the laws of physics and how a tsunami is created, Godzilla could be swimming in front of or behind a tsunami, but would not be the cause. There's nothing terribly 'interesting' about that fact.
@ DRAGONLORD TEVIN - Godzilla is not a God, he's an animal. As powerful as he is, he's not powerful enough to create a tsunami regardless of his size. Your lack of logic and education regarding physics confounds me, but is entertaining in its own kind of way.
Again, physics demand respect and Godzilla is not above them (barring the fact that physically he could never exist anything). As much as we love him, he'll not be the cause of a tsunami anytime soon (nor will he ever).

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-14-2014 8:07 PMWhy are we applying science to a movie? Art should not be bound by earthly limitations, and movie making is an art. Godzilla can create a massive wave as part of his initial landing, he does it a lot. The movie wants to paint Godzilla as a destructive force of nature, which a small tsunami would help. This isn't about extreme logic, it's about making it believable to the general public, not scientists.
