muto is probaly a organization going for a peaceful quest but is really hiding a darker purpose and they made the mutos a biological weapons or they are parasites that fell of visnu and vishnu might be mutos new life form

I speculate that Vishnu is/are the large creature(s), the Mutos are the "scouts" for Vishnu(s), and M.U.T.O is an organization that studies/controls/tracks the species.

But, I could be completely wrong! :P
