REALISM IN GODZILLA

I apologize for my multiple post. I don't mean to spam, I just want to get a good idea of everyone's thoughts. Now, some people argue that a monster movie could never be realistic. Sure, giant monsters aren't realistic, especially a 300/400 ft upright lizard that can breathe atomic energy. However, that DOESN'T mean it can't be realistic. Put it this way. Imagine an elephant going berserk at a circus. Its scary and extremely chaotic. Multiple people can get hurt if not die. Now replace the elephant with something much larger, like a T-Rex. And replace the circus, with a mall. How scary would that be? How chaotic could it be? The injury, and or death ratio would be much higher. Now replace the T-Rex with Godzilla. And replace the mall with a city. Think of the incredible devastation. Think about how frightening that would be. Death would easily range in the 10s to 100s of thousands. Buildings would collapse or fall over. Debris and smoke would engulf countless people. A good example is Cloverfield. Whether you love it, or hate it. The atmosphere was believable. The characters were believable. The DESTRUCTION was believable. The creature itself seemed so real and it was scary seeing something so massive that couldn't be stopped walk around a city. Although I hated the 1st person POV, I think it is a very underrated monster movie. I think this will be the most realist Godzilla we've ever gotten. Especially after seeing Gareth Edwards interviews. He seem to have a fan-love for Godzilla. I feel even more confident after seeing his Monsters movie. He has a very good style of directing, and putting you in the situation. I believe this Godzilla will be a memorable movie. *moderated by Freeze*

You're 100 percent spot on. I really wish they wouldn't have made clover field with that annoying shaky camera. Although it's still a pretty good movie though. I'm sure Godzilla will shoot for that same kind of feel. Only with a lot more destruction and probably better characters.

I don't know about Gareth, but I pray he doesn't make into a disaster.

@KEVIN_C_VANG: With the 1998 Zilla as a teacher, I think it's safe to say that this movie won't be a "disaster" as you call it. Though having our new Godzilla step on a "NIGEL" would be neat to see.
