MemberMothra LarvaeDec-12-2013 6:27 PMI hate to say this but this beautiful piece of art of a movie is actually going to be Rated R.
I did some research and found there will be plenty of gorey moments in this film.
And its obvious. I mean just watch the trailer. Its haunting, intense, cursing ( bad language )
blood, intense violense, thematic elements, and is definatly NOT for children.
The train scene in the trailer shows hundreds of dead people laying on the ground.
If this isnt enough proof right there. Then i must of been hit with the obvious stick.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-25-2014 6:32 PMIt better not be R! That would be so stupid!

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-25-2014 7:18 PMIts not gonna be an r-rated movie. Waste of time. Besides, why?
Just because its dark and gloomy doesnt make it dark.
And seriously, what else? Blood? Pretty sure there wont be any blood. Or horrible language.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-25-2014 7:48 PMI HIGHLY doubt it will be rated R. From what I have seen it will be PG-13 or from where I am from (Australia) it would be rated M.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJan-25-2014 7:55 PMIt won't be R. There are plenty of "dark" movies rated PG-13 and very few R movies get mass toy releases. They want this movie to reach a large audience, PG-13 is a safer bet to secure that hope.
GodzillaFreak's analysis is just some really poor speculation based on the wrong things to focus on.
That said, I'm really happy someone actually sought out this thread instead of making a new one about the topic. Points to MonsterMovieGuy for trying to keep things organized and not making a repeatitive thread just to get attention! Bravo.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-26-2014 7:28 AMthere are rumours that Godzilla 2014 will be rated R.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-31-2014 2:16 PMWhat a heartbreak if they make it "R". I was looking forward to this movie being the
crown jewel of my collection. I grew up watching Gozilla and I am probably the only adult
that doesn't allow "R" movies in the house. I can't believe this.

godzillafan1995
MemberMothra LarvaeJan-31-2014 3:54 PM1. making it r would cut out a large majority of potential audiences
2. really the tone of the movie is not the factor of making a movie dark
3. r rated movies normally include human gore/blood and especially nudity (no godzilla movie will ever have this)
4. why would you market a movie for kids with toys if they aren't even allowed to watch the movie, parents would find that really stupid
5. critcs and general audiences are going to be really confused and possibly fustrated.
i don't want to go to a cinema to watch godzilla and be asked for I.D, seriously why. they are going to expect to get a lot of money from this, they know that godzilla appeals to kids and that there are fans who are under 17.
if this movie is rated r then it has NO CHANCE against TASM2 and XMEN:DoFP

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-31-2014 3:58 PMAre we seriously STILL discussing this?
I feel like such a jerk for being 'mean' about this, but the 'r rated godzilla film' assumption is easily the silliest one I've ever heard. That is in a mountain of gigantic, incredibly silly assumptions made about this film. There have been a lot, and yet this one still floats to the top of the pile everytime.

godzillafan1995
MemberMothra LarvaeJan-31-2014 4:00 PMalso if the original dark gojira is rated UK rating PG (which is the equivilant of US PG-PG13) then there is no reason for this movie to not be PG13, it's the best and most smart choice. if you want this film to do succesfully then it has to be PG-13. also to have a r rating the movie has to have a lot of swearing.

ArcherJ6
MemberMothra LarvaeMar-18-2014 4:54 AMit won't Rated R it will be Rated PG-13 (i hope)
besides, if it's Rated R then it will include HUMAN Gore, Strong Bad Language/Bad Language and of course, Nudity
it's impossible for it to be Rated R i think It's rated PG-13

MonsterMovieguy
MemberMothra LarvaeMar-18-2014 7:22 AMThe language limit for PG-13 is saying "sh*t'' at least 5-6 times, "F*ck" once, "a$$" 9-10 x's, "b*tch" 6-7 times, "b*stard" 2-3 times, and "d*mn it" 3-4 times . So yeah, I highly doudt it that the movie will be R. This is what I think the MPAA rating will be "PG-13: Gun Violence, language, Dark Themes, Monster Violence, and Scary Images.'' Reply if you agree.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-18-2014 12:23 PM^Eh, you could be right but I hope the movie doesn't get rated for language. I get sick of listening to it in movies. I can ignore it somewhat, but when a movie is filled with it, then... ugh. I really like the Transformers movies but the amount of language in the movie always effects how much I want to watch them.
If this movie is going to have language in it, then I hope it stays around the amount there is in, say, Pacific Rim. That much could easily be ignored and it never effects how much I want to watch that movie.
That being said, movies that are rated PG-13 and don't list language can have quite a bit of it already. When movies are actually RATED for language, then that usually means the amount of it in the movie is pretty bad. I hope that isn't the case for this one.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-18-2014 3:46 PMLets keep the movie realistic with an "R" rating please!!! Parents wont care if the movie is way awesome, and realistic! PG-13 Just wont cut it for a movie that it going to be serious.

AdminGodzillaMar-18-2014 4:15 PM^Clearly, you've never seen The Dark Knight. Ratings do not reflect how "serious" or "dark" a movie it is.
