Been following the forum for some time now (and a G-Fan for as long as I can remember) and decided to finally quit being lazy, make an account, and make a post. Anyways, do you guys think that the Godzilla March Theme song will be in the new Godzilla 2014 movie? I think it would make for a perfect ending for the last little bit of the movie and then continues into the beginning of the credits if it fits the scene correctly. I'm hoping that theme Akira Ifukube would show up at some point within the movie because it is iconic for the big guy and sets the mood . I hope GE and the composer either want to include it, or change it slightly since this is a new Godzilla. Thoughts? Opinions?

Hopefully they will include it. It has a way that it works with the beginning of epic moments as well as the sad ones so there are a lot of different scenes it could be put in, especially if they are going for realistic and will have a lot of aftermath scenes. It's too iconic to leave out completely but i have a bad feeling they will try to update it to see it with a new soundtrack or promote a new composer. Hopefully not though

This is pretty much how I envision Godzilla's ending: all the main cast(or whats left of them) taking a moment to contemplate just what the coming of Godzilla really signifies, then the camera pans up Godzilla's massive frame and then we get the "DUUUUUUNN, DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUUUN DUUUUUUNNN" etc ending with Godzilla giving a massive roar to the heavens then it cuts right to the credits with the "March" theme.
That for me would be the pinnacle of awesomeness!

I completely agree and @samzilla14 I wouldn't argue with an ending like that and they better not kill the big guy off either. But back to the topic, the theme just enhances the movie and mood in my opinion and I will be disappointed for sure if it isn't in there in some sort of way. I know G.E. wants to pay tribute to Godzilla's roots and I think this would be one way to do it (even though the march theme didn't premiere till Godzilla vs King Kong I think?)

I wouldn't put my money on it. Not a penny. Not because I hate it, I love it, but because Akira Ifukube is not a part of the production, and they've already got a really good composer. It'd be a waste of a good sum of money not to use him. I think it'd be cool, but I just don't see it actually happening.

Well, either they use those original compositions,or pay homage to it in an unexpected and creative manner. The main idea either way is that these pieces have to remain the prime influence on how the musical score plays out.

No one said that the ifekube theme should be prominently featured over Alexander Desplat's score, just that it would be nice to hear a modern renditioning of it and who's to say Mr Desplat won't make his own version of that score?
And why not? If the new Star Trek films can have their own version of the classic intro theme then this new Godzilla film certainly can have it's own version of Akira Ifekube's score.
In fact, concidering that TOHO studios has taken active part in making the film, it could very well be possible that Gareth Edward will get Akira Ifukube himself to work on a version of the "March" theme suitable for this film while Alexander Desplat works on the main score. A wild and hopeful geuss, sure, but still a possibility.

Exactly! I totally agree with the new Star Trek movies having their own spin off of the old theme so Godzilla 2014 could very well do the same. I checked the link and I can live with that song but it's not quite as iconic and mood setting as the old one in my opinion. The music is almost too subtle but that's just me. Maybe I'm just too picky...idk :/ I'm sure the score for the movie will be suitable and great though

well in my opionion they should use the good old godzilla march theme for this movie its a part of godzilla in all movies except that bullshit iguana we got in the horrible 98 film but every godzilla film has had that march theme to it it sucks big time that akira ifukube, ishiro honda, eiji tsuburaya, and tomoyuki tanaka are dead those are the men that gave life to godzilla

Ifekube is DEAD?!
Boy do I look stupid. That's what happens when you don't keep in touch with anything from TOHO since the last Godzilla film.

i personally think that the new godzilla SHOULD have atleast one of ifukube's works in there.

Never posted anything before but this subject is too important. Have grown up watching godzilla for 50 years. Akira's theme is Godzilla. Every showing in every theater in the world will have at least one true godzilla fan who considers this a failure with out the Godzilla's March. Please Gareth don't fail us!
