Think back, way back to when you saw your first Godzilla movie. What made you a fan of Godzilla initially? Was it the look of Godzilla himself? Was it the story? What made you a fan? Let us know by replying below!

I just like to imagine Giant Monsters destroying cities and stuff so when I came across Godzilla I loved it. It was just awesome seeing a bunch of giant monsters fighting each other.

First got into Godzilla when the 2014 movie came out, but then I lost interest. King of the Monsters has resparked my interest. Other than that I just like to see crumbling buildings, explosions, and monster fights.

Angering the Godzilla fan base one take at a time

When I was growing up I always have been into dragons and dinosaurs. I had a room all to myself upstairs, so one time I was grounded from tv, I waited for my parents and sibling to go to sleep, when they did I turned on my Toto low volume and was surfing through the channels and came across the 1993 Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla 2. It honestly made me cry. I loved everything about Godzilla and have been rooting for him ever since. And the more movies i watched just made it more so. Except Godzilla 2000... it never happened.

I have been a Godzilla fan for as long as I can remember. My fondest memories are of watching Godzilla movie marathons on tv and searching video stores for new Godzilla movies. I remember that the first four Godzilla movies I got were Godzilla King of the Monsters, King Kong VS Godzilla, Godzilla VS Megalon and Godzilla VS Gigan on VHS. I still have these tapes. I would also record Godzilla movie marathons whenever they were on. I still have one of these tapes. It was a marathon on the sci-fi channel, showing Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla VS Spacegodzilla, Godzilla VS Destoroyah and Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla. I have been a Godzilla fan my entire life. It makes me so happy that great Godzilla movies are still being made. I loved Godzilla 2014 and Shin Godzilla and I can't wait for Godzilla King of the Monsters later this year!

The first giant monster movie I ever saw... at the age of 3 mind you... was The Giant Behemoth... and in 1970... for me that was scary... but I watched it all the way through to the end and I was hooked on giant monsters from then on. How I became a Godzilla fan... was due to the first movie I ever watched with Godzilla in it... Ghidorah - The Three Headed Monster. (English version). It aired on a Saturday at 1pm and it was a show on NBC called Monster Movie Matinee... the host wore an eye patch and there was a coffin near by with an actual hand hanging out of it and it moved around and there was a voice from the coffin accompanying the hand movements. Bottom line... If it was not for Ghidorah having it's own movie... I might not have learned about Godzilla... let alone be a fan. So that makes Godzilla King Of The Monsters 2019... extra special.

Godzilla has been my favorite “thing” in my life my whole life.  Ever since my father sat me in front of “Final Wars” as a child I was infatuated with this giant fire breathing monster that kicked ass everywhere he went.  I saw every movie there was about him since then, and have done endless research and invested so much time to understand and enjoy this thing that facinated me so much.  Amidst my new obsession as a child, I would constantly pretend all my toys were the strongest and coolest things that ever existed ever.  But I knew Godzilla was important when I realized he had become dominant over every one I’ve had.  He was “and is” the strongest, most powerful and best force there was and ever will be.  This childish obsession grew into a serious appreciation for the work of Tomoyuki Tanaka’s creation and it’s backstory, meaning, and evolution throught time.  There was never a time I did not like Godzilla, he was so powerful and good (most of the time), and the idea and essence of him amazed and inspired me.  A prominent piece of my character is the fact that I’m an artist, and another is the way I think philosophically and how my mind operates.  These are both influenced and enhanced by this beautiful creation of natural balance that inspired my mind and his strong and sharp form combined with a will to protect the planet that stylized and evolved my own artwork.  I love Godzilla because it connects with me on such a deep, personal level and provided such a rich and pure source of ideas in my mind and heart.  I seriously was brought to tears by the 2014 Gareth Edwards film when I saw him on that big IMAX screen.  After years of growing up he was finally back, I never get that emotion during anything, but I did there.  I couldn’t be more excited for him to prove why he’s still the king in 2019’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”.  My dream is to one day work for Legendary Studios and be appart of bringing this creation back into the world the best way Godzilla deserves to be.  Here’s to my dream coming true.

Mall Hail the King.

I was an 11 year old and I just saw the second concept teaser of godzilla where it was just his silhouette and a roar. i was like "the movie comes out in 5 months, i just found a new obsession" so for five months i researched godzilla and the wider kaiju world

I remember watching these films as far back as I can remember on TV back in the 70s, ( I was born in 71 ), and I remember my dad taking the family to go and see the new movies at the theaters when they would come out. I remember watching the Godzilla cartoon from the early 80s. I will say he is one of my favorite monster heroes.  What made me a fan, The epic battles with the other monsters of course. The new Movies and animation just brings back all the good memories of being a kid except now they are just epic, I mean really epic.

My venture began when I was 3 or 4 years old when I saw my first Godzilla movie which was, funnily enough, King Kong vs. Godzilla. Life as a Godzilla fan from that point on has had it's ups and downs, I drew a lot of fan art, saw as many movies in the franchise as I could which was rather difficult given the time, and even had toys of it from time to time. But in terms of fitting in because of it? Well, I kinda felt sort of left out because of it. That was until I met my still current best friend Ben Kirk, from there, I slowly became more and more comfortable, even embracive of my love for the Godzilla franchise. And that's my beginnings with the Godzilla franchise. I'm King Gargantuas, and I'll see y'all next time. ;)

Godzilla 98 was my favorite movie when I was a kid I was watching it everyday and I had a lot of toys of Zilla. I did not watch any others Godzilla movies during my childhood but my obsession for monsters and Kaiju grew up during this time. But it's just recently when Godzilla 2014 came out that I discovered the true Kaiju and Toho universe and now I'm just complitely obssessed with King Ghidorah and the others and I have no regrets !

I think for me it was my Dad who got me hooked when I was about seven. Just to see this awesome creature rampaging through Japan and battling other monsters was something that I enjoyed then and still do now. Watching the Godzilla movies is an amazing experience, particularly considering that the series, which is 65 years old this year, can show us the evolution of movies alongside the King himself. To me, seeing Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Final Wars when I was younger had the two biggest lasting impressions, and I've been hooked ever since.

When I was a boy I watched Godzilla versus megallon - and it had Gigan and Jet Jaguar....like how could I not love Godzilla from then on? Angirus and his call for help - and Godzilla coming to rescue his buddy, ghidora and the badassery that followed. Just the best memories.

thats not to say I didn’t always ALWAYS fall asleep during boring human parts. But I was always woke when Godzilla fights came on.

I dreamt of a movie that would truly represent my nostalgia and love for Godzilla and then 2914 movie came out and it was awesome...but needed more! At least Godzilla was finally represented how he should be visually tho. Even if the story was “lacking”. Looking forward to KOTM. Finally a 42 year dream for me to be realized. :)

Pink here ......

Im glad to find the sight and join. The first memory of Gojira was 1962 and I couldn’t even walk. It was the 1955 version Godzilla King of the Monsters with Raymond Burr. I remember just being terrified and fascinated. I wanted to believe such things were real. As a child growing up, things weren’t ideal in my life but I could escape to my world of dinosaurs Gojira and the Universal Monsters. Every year a new offering and I devoured it. Back then, it was Friday night and Saturday morning creature features. There were no vhs or dvds. Still I have always had Godzilla toys tapes dvds etc. when I could build my library I ended up with all of the works of every Kaiju including the Grandaddy of all of them King Kong. I watch them constantly and once a year invest two weeks to bing every movie in chronological order. I enjoy fellow fan’s podcasts as long as they are not disrespectful of Gojira. I will never miss the opportunity to see a new release in a theater and get such a high seeing grown men filling a theater - with little or no children or women. I just laugh to myself and think - yeah we all get it. I love to point out the silly stuff (I am also a huge fan of Ultraman) but I truly prefer when Gojira is pissed. My favorite scene is the ending of Gojira 2000 when he is just pissed and spins around 360 degrees with his atomic breath burning the entire city.
