^ I never drew anything. I simply took an artwork of Godzilla, and then used Picmonkey.com to crop it a bit, add a slight filter and add the writing.

Gman2887.. I guess I did not think of it that way.. but you have a good point.. but for Gojira to evolve in such a way.. would indicate a massive intelligence at work.. and I am not sure if he has that in this version... but I could be wrong.. and I've been wrong before. But how does it know to do that ? considering it was a marine life form to begin with? unless the approach is from a Darwinian concept of fish to man type evolution.. which just turns me off to the whole notion that that's what is going on in this film.. partially because I don't believe in evolution the way that it's taught.

RR44,
That's like asking why did it take on the form of a retro-saurus looking creature. The characters explained earlier in the film that it was the perfect evolutionary organism, so as long as there was air and water it could evolve into whatever its body perceived as the dominant life form.

In the end Godzilla was being beat by humanity, or a collective of humans working together to achieve a certain goal. Since humanity was beating him, his body tried to also become a collective of humanoids. Basically it's a symbolic epilogue--Anno is merely stating that the dominant life form on the planet is humanity when they work together.

I could see these beings being in a sequel in addition to, but not in the place of, Godzilla. I could also see the fourth form Godzilla evolving somewhat, as long as he looks like Godzilla. Maybe closer to the ShodaiGoji, which would be basically a move from concept drawings to final form for the 1954 design.

Very cool first chapter! The italicized beginning reminded me of The End's beginning prelude.

I'm with Gman2887  on this one. but it does comfirm something I have wondered.. did Shin G eat people in his second form ? I mean.. where else would the humanoid forms come from ?

G-Forum Senator Ultrazero, Of course there would be a normal Godzilla in the movie. It's not a Godzilla movie without Godzilla.

If there is to be a (n inevitable) sequel, I don't think it will revolve around these creatures in the least.

This is a fascinating Article. I, myself, have not yet seen the entire movie, but I have a theory as to how they could continue the series with the "New Creature". I call it a "New Creature" because, in my opinion, That's what it is. My Opinion is, That the Creature in the Film is NOT the true Godzilla/Gojira, But a wanna be Creature attempting the steal the crown away from the "King of the Monsters". This "New Creature" is an Ancient Alien Life Form (much like the Shapeshifting Creature in "The Thing") Mutated by the Nuclear waste in the ecosystem (as mentioned in the article above), Possibly with a little Goji DNA thrown in to the mix. This is where they could Tie-in The original 1954 movie in with the new Franchise (the remains of the Original Godzilla/Gojira are still at the bottom of Tokyo Bay). And No one really explained where the second Godzilla came from in The follow up "Godzilla Raids Again". So, There is another Monster out there. I think "Shin Gojira/ Godzilla Resurgence" is Setting up for a return of the one true "King of the Monsters". A battle for the Crown. And all of Humanity hangs in the balance.

KingKaijuGojira- I'll be alright with these creatures, as long as there's a normal Godzilla in the movie too.

Those are both incredibly disturbing and creepy at the same time. I love it. I like the concept: Godzilla spawning an army of humanoid Godzillas to fight humanity. It is cool and unprecedented but it still fits into Godzilla's character. Throughout the franchise, we have seen Godzilla's cells (commonly referred to as G-cells) be used in a variety of ways. Many of those ways resulted in monstrous mutations. Biollante, SpaceGodzilla, Megaguirus, Orga and even the Millennium series incarnation of MechaGodzilla (G-cells were used for the bio-computer that help operate MechaGodzilla, which is why he went wild). This is just another example of how Godzilla's cellular makeup is incredibly flexible. Shin Gojira as a whole is an example of that. I hope we see these Humanoid Godzillas in the next movie.

I don't like the offspring idea, and never did. Although they mentioned this Godzilla could propagate on its own, I'm glad they never show it and went with the idea that his next form was multiple, humanoid Godzillas splitting off.

Because he's the perfect evolutionary organism in this film there's no reason he couldn't evolve into another Godzilla-design creature, if his body deemed it a necessary, evolutionary step.

I like it, but it doesn't really feel like Godzilla. If they were another monster or even his offspring, that would be acceptable, but not as Godzilla himself.

The head design looks a bit like the Future Predators from Primeval...

These are the creatures sprouting from Godzilla's tail at the end of the film. The Art of Godzilla seems to confirm my theory--These creatures are Godzilla's next form, collectively.

Updated OP apparently these are not unused concepts but actual concepts which made it into the film. How creepy and awesome!

I like the design but not for Godzilla himself. Maybe for those things you see Frozen at the end. Just don't keep ten running around that size/design long or its gonna feel like the '98 flick. Need giant monsters in out giant monster movies.

This could be a Neomorph in Alien: Covenant, but Godzilla??? :D By the way, the concept of the creature itself is awesome.

Oh my, that's quite chilling! This human form Godzilla has definitely captured my taste, but what I find most interesting is the single eye socket upon its head!

Reminiscent of a Cyclopean being?!

Quite a revealing post Chris! Upvoted!

No, I wouldn't. This creation looks nothing like Godzilla and I would not have accepted it.

Thank god Ghido and Bio are on opposite sides of the bracket so I won't likely have to choose between them unless the bracket just goes crazy with upsets.

I asked someone on Spacebattles to do some calculations, and apparently, according to the scaling, that Triceratops would've been about 22 meters long. Pretty big, since that's the same size as a mid-sized sauropod.
