If it's not Dopepope making bitchin' 3D zBrush art with Godzilla, it's Matt Frank dealing out the sketches. And no matter what happens, the results is always stunning.
This trailer answered-in a good way-a lot of questions for me regarding the kaiju. They all look great, beautiful homages to The Series. If you read about them on the Monarch Sciences pages, then think in terms of state-of-the-art VFX applied to these designs and what these monsters can do, then we are looking at destruction on a nearly unimaginable scale. I hope the narrative resonates and the characters are multi-dimensional. GKOTM looks like it may appeal to more than just fans of the genre. I see a giant monster film, one with mystical elements (you have to have that with Mothra), a human drama with family implications (the Russells are divorced), a political thriller (Monarch), and a global disaster story. In other words, something for just about everyone, one stop shopping at the local cineplex.
This is good news.
Oh my God that's amazing.
Yeah I was just going to say it failed to mention his work on THE WALKING DEAD, as well as ARROW, BLACK SAILS, METALOCALYPSE, DAMIEN, BLACK MIRROR, and DAMIEN. Not to mention he was a member of Danny Elfman's band Oingo Boingo.
Feels so strange that we finally made it. Trailer looks great, I've already watched it more times than I'd care to count
Guy who did the music for God of War is doing music for Godzilla...guess he only makes music for the Gods.
I hope they keep some of the previous film's soundtrack.
Don't know if anyone's noticed or mentioned it yet, but at least one of Godzilla's spines is nearly identical to the '54 G. Pretty cool.
Music can make the moment, should be epic.
I'll bet a lot of money that it was.
1.The position of Mothra and Kong are nearly identical.
2.Both scenes involve a lot of mist.
3.The coloring is pretty similar.
4.The purpose of the scenes are to establish that both Mothra and Kong are friendly to humans.
5.Last but not least, the scenes involve the same amount of humans.
There are just way too many similarities for this to be purely coincidental.
He's also done some phenomenal music in The Walking Dead. Looking forward to what he brings.
Indeed I thought the same thing. I wonder if that was done intentionally.
you can really tell that there are Godzilla fans working behind the scenes for this movie which just is gonna make this movie better and better. for them to include the classic Godzilla theme was no big surprise for me because of that.
I had to go back and play it to be reminded of Ifukube's Godzilla theme. Only took a few notes... I remember it quite well. It will be a nice nod and addition to the score.
The Mothra shot literally took my breath away, and gave me goosebumps. So incredible.
I love these shots so much.
^
You might be correct with that statement because as of right now he is swimming towards New Mexico.
Lol, Same here. I have watched it over 20 times by now and I still get shivers.
Agreed @KaijuWorld, I feel like every design is on point for this movie.
I start every morning by watching this trailer haha
Thanks for the compliments. :)
I share the same idea as you if the idea of Biollante being from a secret island though I chose skull island, but you could use any island to be fair.
I find it interesting that most people are oké with the idea of changing Biollante’s original form from a rose to something else. Personally (as I explained in the story) I imagine Biollante’s original form to look like a small (more flower sized) version of Biollante’s first form which then changes/mutates into her second form.
Look, I think mothra looked beautiful in the trailer but... ahes 50 fricken feet with 800 ft long wings? that doesn't make any since she should bee hurtin with them big wings! and she's a big target well see in movie
I love this series, great work!
As for the OP, Biollante would be easier to explain than other monsters. She could be a prehistoric Venus Fly Trap who's DNA gets altered by man-made instruments. Perhaps she could get discovered on a secret island like Kong was.
I always loved Biollante, would love to see her brought to Hollywood.
I really don't see how or why they would implement Jet Jaguar. By the looks of the trailer to this new godzilla, humanity seems to be at the mercy of the titanic kaiju
WOW! that is a beautiful figure! I will try to get that when it comes out. Now where is kong?
I personally do not like the King Ghidorah design. It looks to much but I can deal with with it BUT GOD DAMN THOSE ARE SOME BIG WINGS
^
King Ghidorah is a little over 500 ft.
DAAAAAAAAMN !!! Ghidorah is HUGE. So stoked for this movie. I wonder what other monster... other than the ones we know about... is going to make an appearance ? Director said 5 monsters... so... any speculations as to who?
Yes. Can't get hyped enough.
Well, I like his work. The soundtrack and graphics were just about the only good things about the new God of War (Dad of Bore, ugh) but I'm excited nonetheless. I agree that he definitely has what it takes to paint an epic soundscape that is appropriate for the film. His work on 10 Cloverfield Lane was excellent and I believe that he'll be a wonderful successor to Desplat.
Thanks for sharing! I'll be sure to front page this soon! I'm optimistic although it is sad to hear Desplat will not be returning.
I have always viewed Mothra as the most magical and least constrained by what little "physics" are in these movies. So, while it doesn't appear physically like much match for Ghidorah, I think a plausible enough reason could be written for 1 Mothra to take out 1 Ghidorah.
OMG! Imagine an orchestral remix of all four monsters' soundtrack! It would be godlike!
It looks like this version has little legs up front, which made me think it might be larval, although, we do see what appears to be a coccoon just prior, so that may be the adult form.
@KingKaijuGojira - Without seeing the movie, I believe that yes, that is the larval stage we see in that scene.
