G. H. (Gman) So do you think that they're actually going to (most likely) "retcon" that part of the history of Skull Island in GvK 2020? I feel like they would so that Godzilla is not hated on by the audience. (Unless something happens to Godzilla at the end of KOTM 2019.)
My assumption is the filmmakers felt Godzilla being a villain was still a real possibility during the making of Skull Island. That's why Randa paints him as a terrifying bringer of death.
Turns out he's basically the Showa Godzilla.
A Godzilla toy i got when i was 3
Well, while Godzilla isnt hostile towards humans, he won’t think twice about going through you if you got in his way. That’s probably what happened, the ship happened to be on a collision course with Godzilla and Godzilla rammed through it.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts said outright that it was Godzilla in the audio commentary of the Skull Island Blu-ray.
@KingKaijuGojira Same
Who ever recorded this, Thank you! You are a God or Goddess if you're a girl. Best...trailer...EVER!!!
Love the DaisensoGoji suit. One of my favorites from the Showa series.
A W E S O M E
I believe that WoG has stated that it was indeed Godzilla, it's just that the filmmakers didn't want to outright state it since they felt that audiences didn't need to be simply told it was him.
1. Yes I’ll watch the post credit scenes.
2. If you mean by “join in on the marathon” giving my thoughts on each film, I’d be glad to share them on this forum. My cousin lives a bit away from my town so he is just going to see the new one with me. Ironically, his birthday is LITERALLY May 31st, so this movie would make a great present.
After a surprise 12+ hour work day, I'm in. #GodzillaRewatch Day 6 is my favorite Godzilla film! Bring on the stinkin' rats!
I like this opening more. The Monster Zero March is God-Tier.
Glenn's Japanese voice actor, Goro Naya, also dubbed over Alec Guinness in the original Star Wars trilogy.
Basically I'm saying Glenn is Obi-Wan.
The real reason this movie works so well: The cast is easily my favorite of the Godzilla series. Takarada, Adams, Mizuno, Tsuchiya (as the series' BEST villain) and the criminally underrated (in this flick) Kubo.
Powerhouses.
Love the framing of this shot with the elevator shaft. Seeing this cropped on VHS really neutered it when I was younger. I couldn't figure what it was despite the context clues.
The Forbidden Planet influences are strong. Some of the most extravagant sets seen in the Godzilla series up to this point. I love the extremely pulp sci-fi look and how Glenn & Fuji pop from it in their orange suits.
A neat little moment absent in the American version is how the Commandant of Planet X turns off the universal translator and we hear their native language.
It explains how Glenn/Fuji can understand them without exposition.
This is a great little scene. All the distinct personalities bouncing off of each other is brilliant. I love the way Glenn sabotages his best friend's argument.
Admittedly, this is where the story falls apart. Why did they need to deceive Earth if they knew where Godzilla was all along? I assume they needed us to confirm he was down there (due to prior scenes) but that's a bit flimsy.
Seamless, Tsuburaya. Great shot.
This prop would be used again in Godzilla vs. Hedorah. Gosh, I wonder for which scene?
Although he's playing them, the Commandant's words are believed. This indicates Godzilla & Rodan are still considered threats, not heroes. The anti-hero label soldiers on.
Takarada's too cool to look at your pulp sci-fi inspired set.
Tsuburaya won a Technical Award (basically the equivalent of a Japanese Academy Award) for his FX in this film. They aren't realistic and that's the point. He created a colorful, fanciful comic book-y world. A real first for Godzilla. It set the stage for much more in the genre.
Godzilla & Rodan fighting King Ghidorah on another planet after traveling through space.
That sentence alone should bring world peace.
It used to bug me that the People of Planet X gave them a regular ole tape for the "miracle cure", but I kinda like the symbolic imagery it has with the Cold War--Secret tapes, microfilm, etc.
Best scene in the movie. Fight me.
I love how Godzilla seems to mindlessly wipe his chin in a subdued state.
And there it is. Coming full circle the rape whistle is finally blown on those essentially trying to violate the Earth.
While I don't particularly think this Godzilla suit is very flattering in the next movie, I've always had a great fondness for it here. Severely underrated design.
A neat thing Tsuburaya did in this movie was create larger scale miniatures for a larger Godzilla foot prop to crush. The size & detail means we can literally see stuff come out of these houses as Godzilla kicks'em around.
Despite the unfortunate use of stock footage from Rodan this is really some of the most exciting city destruction in the series. Ifukube doesn't hurt it either.
These trucks would later be used to create the Maser Tanks in War of the Gargantuas.
Can we appreciate how much Godzilla has improved against King Ghidorah since the last movie? He boxes KG's heads, he dodges the gravity beams--At point-blank range... This ending battle is short, but satisfyingly dynamic.
I always wanted to see THAT movie. Guess my 20 year old fan fiction will have to suffice.
#GodzillaRewatch takeaways Day 6:
1) Don't ever let aliens think you're THAT interested in them. Wear sunglasses on their impressive ship.
2) It's okay to have a massive plot hole as long as the rest of your movie is so good it distracts from it.
3) Nick Adams > Chuck Norris.
I honestly didn't think I could possibly get more hyped than I am now...
Boy was I wrong
Bring Godzilla games on PCs.
GojiFan99 I agree with you. Maybe we'll revisit this forum after the film is released and see how right you were. That sounds like a reasonable guess to me.
Pteranodonte You're half way there
I guess that Rodan will come out as the stronger of the two (here he easly crush Mothra into a building like it is nothing), but in the end Mothra will reveal something like her powder to stun him temporarily (burning her wings in the process, like we see in the trailer), so she can fly in front of Ghidorah to take his gravity beams to protect Godzilla, being killed in the process. Then I guess her ashes will be absorbed by Godzilla to became Burning Godzilla, or something like that.
some more images and a re crop

Heres some nice screenshots of Ghidorah

Chris There seems to be a problem with the website in which (for me, at least) on the latest forum activity page, whenever I decide to go from page 1 to page 2, instead of page 2, it says the ¨404- Page Not Found¨ error. I don know if it´s happening to anyone else, but if it is, can you please see what the problem is? Thanks so much.
MDK 2 (MinecraftDinoKaiju) Well yes, I suppose so.
Gmkgoji You mean cringey and generic.
Now that I think about it, "World destroyer" sounds cringy
Gmkgoji You're welcome.
Sounds super generic. Hopefully, it's not as generic as I think it is going to be or as this interview makes it seem to be.
This internet leak seems fake. Wait until after GvK in 2020 to read it. Thank you. And you're welcome.
I feel like it should stay on Skull Island, at least until (Somehow. I don't know how exactly if it happens.) Godzilla destroys the island itself and lures Kong to a city before the second or third act.
Until the Red Spiral Ray part, I was wondering which version of the Heisei Godzilla was fighting Ultraman, but now I know it is the "vs. SpaceGodzilla" version. Nice fight. Can't wait for the others.
G. H. (Gman) Yeah, that one is cooler. It's awesome.
Pteranodonte,
Just because there's confirmation of a clear winner does not necessarily mean there will be no team up.
As fake as this leak is, even it takes into account a clear winner while allowing them to team up. Wingard never said this wouldn't happen.
Real or not, this plot does sound pretty cool if you ask me. Although I'd describe the "World Destroyer" as more of an Orga wannabe. It would also be cool to see Rodan survive the events of King Of The Monsters, since its pretty obvious that neither Ghidorah or Mothra will survive. (I say mothra because she supposedly transfers her energy to Godzilla in order for him to beat Ghidorah, which turns him into Burning Godzilla.) Although Godzilla may "Meet his end" after falling into a volcano, I highly doubt it. As the events of 1984 were explained, as we all know Godzilla fell into a volcano, supposedly dying. But in 1989, we see him just waltz out of that same volcano like nothing happened. Even in Godzilla vs Mothra in 1992, he is mentioned to have SWAM through lava and walked out of Mt. Fuji unscathed. It's pretty obvious who may win this overall fight: Godzilla.
Long Live The King. 'Nuff Said
Dude, seriously, April Fools' was a week ago...
Yeah, that's fake. They already said that there will be a clear winner between Godzilla and Kong (unlike the original movie), so no team up.
I do hope it’s fully fake. I hate the idea putting THE GOD versus monkey (I’m sorry Kong fans). I like him unless he wins Godzilla. So, we already have the experience when kong wins, now it’s time for Godzilla right? If it’s gonna happen it will prove that Godzilla isn’t the KING of monsters. Stupid. Kong isn’t rival alpha to Godzilla. Period.
Thank you, Gmkgoji!
macumbalove Hello! welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your stay
New here, Hello everyone! Long time lurker finally joined. Re: this "leak", Just have a laugh because there is zero chance this is real.
This sucks! It makes no sense! Deathla? A smaller Kong managing to get this kind of Damage on Godzilla whom we know manages to eviscerate King Ghidorah? They don't put aside their differences at all? What the hell! This is not cool at all! It panders to Kong fans while nerfing the hell out of Godzilla compared to the last movie he was in! Not to mention it doesn't even hint at what we've been told about the movie so far! No exploring the origins of the Titans, nothing! It HAS to be fake, this is disrespectful to Godzilla!
The King of the Monsters A fair point. I personally don't believe this leak either.
