For this topic I thought I would also add some of the memes I have to.

By not moving the release it also shows studio confidence with the film. All good signs imo.

The March release date is actually looking to be one of the more promising options right now.

While Mulan releases 2 weeks later and Onward is 1 week before, that's 2 whole weeks to itself as the primary action movie. It's going up against a Pixar film, sure, but it also has the advantage of landing during Spring Break.

I think Endgame drained moviegoing audiences a bit for all films that came after it. But this release date has no real major competition in the months preceding it; G.I. Joe has also been moved back to November it seems, which is good since that means the action genre will be exclusively for Godzilla vs. Kong for a good while.

And with the frontloading of box office takes, we really only need to be worried about Onward.

Ok that's cool. We're probably gonna get the trailer around July that's when King of the Monsters trailer came out. And they have almost similar release date times 

World of KJ, via Kogyotsushin, says Godzilla: King of the Monsters dropped to #3 over the weekend, pulling $1.9 million USD. It is now officially at $20.5 million total in Japan.

Attendance sits at 1.51 million after 17 days.

The current total ties with Godzilla '14's 3rd weekend. For comparison here's what Godzilla '14 and Shin Godzilla's totals were at during their third weekends:

my favorite thing about Godzilla: King of the monsters was the score, the score was what i was looking forward to, impatiently waiting for months to get the soundtrack, now i finally have it and i love every single thing about it, the iconic themes of godzilla and mothra returning, and ghidorah and rodan's new themes!

Oh man, it's killing me.
When the dust has settled, this movie may very well be considered a financial failure, or a "flop". It's not in my eyes. I think the right director made it. He did so many things right, and has a love and respect for the source material and characters. I wish he had done the first one. Don't get me going on the damn soundtrack, other than McCreary killed it. Does the movie have its weaknesses? Absolutely. I liked the characters; they were interesting. I would have liked to get to know them better. I think another 20-30 minutes would have served this movie well. Same holds true for the Oxygen Destroyer. Instead of a quick, "We've developed this new weapon, the Oxygen Destroyer. It'll be there in 30 seconds so you better get out of dodge", I would have liked a bit more exposition about that weapon. It was a very cool addition, but let's find out a bit more about it, what it does, why they would ever think of using it, etc.

My personal opinions about why it's struggled:
I think G2014 hurt this movie. G-fans were always going to go out and support/watch it. The general movie-going audience stayed away. I think many were put off by 2014 and skipped this as a result.
The five year wait didn't help.
Timing is everything. The original March release probably would have been a bit better.
The reviews obviously didn't do it any favors.

It's a shame, because I love this movie. I think Dougherty did a fabulous job with this, the soundtrack absolutely rocks (and I liked Desplat's 2014 soundtrack), and it was a shitload of fun. I've seen it twice and I'd love to see it again. I'd love to see him release an extended cut. I also want more Rodan and definitely more Mothra. Hoping GVsK can pick up the slack, because I'd love to see more of this world.

Mine would be either Anguirus, Destroyah, Biollante or maybe another appearance of Megaguirus. 

I liked his character just fine. I wanted to see more of him and get know him as well as many of the other characters. The characters were interesting; just needed to be developed a bit more. This was a man, and a family who lost one of their children and it destroyed them. It splintered the parents into two very different directions. He became an alcoholic and eventually an isolationist, and she became this radical activist who, in trying to understand the creatures that were responsible for her son's death, had misplaced priorities and ideals about those creatures' place in the world. This movie needed a bit more exposition of the human characters; maybe another 20-30 minutes, and a bit more Mothra and Rodan. I loved this movie. Listening to the soundtrack right now and it totally kicks ass.

It would have been darker in tone and more grounded. Very different feel imo. I like 2014 a lot because its very moody and does a good job of world building, but I don't think he would have made a very action packed sequel. It would have been divisive.

My favorite scene in the movie.. Was.. The Whole Movie! It was so awesome! And i will break down each scene i like and love a lot!... First scene is The Sanfrancsico Flashback (2014) Where Godzilla just walk through that building.. And Roar!! Skraaank!! Its look like a Victory Roar after Gojira defeats the 2 Mutos. 2. Mothra: Actually.. I can now finally see Mothra and the 3 original kaiju in the big screen.. Every Mothra's Scene in the movie  is so So So BeauTiful! The larva scene was kinda funny a bit.. Spitting those soldiers away lmao and oh that is aslo the first introduction of The Orca.. And then after that scene an explosion happened in the outpost.. It was an epic entrance of Team Eco-Terrorist ... Led by Charles Dan's character.. Allan Jonah.. 3. King Ghidorah: Well Ghidorah's entrance was so damn epic... Especially the theme fitting on it like u know that “Oh shit ghidorah is gonna be back again” I love the personalities of each head.. Especially Kevin the Head (sadly got bit off by Godzilla) and we got aanother scene the first we saw the gravity beam back again in the big screen! It was more powerful.. There is a scene where Ghidorah is the new alpha and damn that roar.. The Song of the Three Headed Devil... That wakes up all the titan destroying the world! That give me chills in the cinema!. 4. Rodan: Well Rodan is the most badass on them.. But i kind hate that in the trailer he is so badass but in the movie Rodan was like a slave to the two alpha.. But that scene .. That supersonic flight that cause very strong destructive winds that destroy Isla De Mona village making it a ghost town through.. It was so epic.. And also the scene Rodan chasing the Argo Jet.. Was so Awesomeee! And also kicking off ghidorah's ass but suddenly loses. 5. Godzilla: Well Godzilla is the very very most Badass here! After Loosing 2 Fights and almost lose in the Final one.. Godzilla make an epic appearance in The Final Battle.. That overpowered radiation he absord its so OP!  i like at the beginning of the film that it shows the Showa Era roar.. Standing for the flashback or memories of 1954.. Actually beginning of the film.. And also i love how they mix the 2014 Roar and 1954! Its so awesome!!! I like how Godzilla in the final battle to be similar in Godzilla vs Destoroyah. Too much radiation can cause him to explode.. As in KOTM he will just explode as a Atom Bomb.. But that didnt happened cause Ghidorah lift him up ain the air and Let him fall .. And i like how they make Fire Godzilla epic entrance.. Building's Melting.. And everything is melting! Even tho me jk. And Yeah thats it!

Btw this scenes are the scene that i cried in the theatre.

1. Ishiro Serizawa's Sacrifice: more like tony's sacrifice but i cried more here than in Endgame.. 

2. Mothra's Sacrifice: Damn it was an epic sacrifice for mothra.. I knew she was gonna die.. When that happened. I thought im not gonna die but when the theme plays sad tone perfectly fitting to mothras sacrifice... And the thing that make me cry in that scene is her roar at the end..

3. Dr Graham: actually did not cry just a drop of tears.. I was shocked when i notice like wait.. Is that Dr Graham stomped by ghidorah!? No! The more sad is.. When Serizawa miss her.. I cried on that too.. 

Damn Michael Dougherty Did An Awesome Job ON This FiLm!

If $170 mil budget is accurate, it looks like KOTM will eventually make a small profit. The failings of all films released over the last few weeks is not a coincidence. I think audiences are suffering from theater fatigue since Avengers.

Hopefully WB/Legendary recognizes the shortcomings of ALL recent films and does not have a major knee-jerk reaction with GvK.

Actually after seeing the ending breakdown for KOTM from Dman1954 Godzilla should probably not to dark Targaryen on the humans as much as I wanna see him break stuff. In memory of Yoshimitsu Banno who once told me at Gfest that a Godzilla that would destroy the world is a different Godzilla than his. This Legendary Godzilla is Yoshi's Godzilla and should protect the innocent a bit like Gamera... However I'm sure he has feelings. That part where Serizawa touched Godzilla's face reminds me of my Bearded Dragon. Afterwards when Godzilla judges the sub and the humans DO NOT treat him like a monster he was an ally. Then they helped him in battle. The humans have three credits so far. A. Being living creatures and Godzilla is a earth defender. 2. Learning how to respect Godzilla's feelings. 3. Helping Godzilla in war. Even when they attacked him in 2014 he did not fire back. The oxygen destroyer should have pissed him off at us but Serizawa showed him we are not all evil so he defends us all. 

Kong needs to bend the knee not loose an eye. They should watch out for each other like both think they know what's best for the other but adopt each other as pets. My big Iguana makes a fucking Donkey Kong out of my dumb ass on a daily basis. He Damn near took off my finger last week and I'll defend him to the death. When he tries to  Fuck me up I gotta put him in time out tho. He has his throne and I have mine. We need  each other to survive. I get much artistic inspiration from Lizards and I love my Iguanas as God Dragon Zillas. I am a Jollem  like Kong should be. A king under a God, however there are times when Kong knows best and in those times the dominance is all that is at stake but not really. Kong knows his place. If it is destroyed he will have to work with and under Godzilla to find another. He will be crowned the second king in command and when it comes to people Kong is closer and Godzilla will listen. That is our battle in the city where they argue and fight, Godzilla is already protecting man. Why would he not protect Kong?

First off killing Godzilla or Rodan is going to royally piss me off. DON'T DO IT! Breaking off Godzilla's plates and having Kong stab him G  with it would also upset me greatly. Godzilla swims lava channels at the earth's core on a regular basis. Magma does not harm Godzilla.

Godzilla needs to win. It doesn't have to be blood and gore just lots of property destruction, don't tease us with aftermath shots of chaos. I wanna actually see these monsters break stuff. Landmarks and much units. Let's see them try to one up each other in feats of destruction. Kong must bend the knee. Godzilla should stomp cities. King Kong ain't got shit on Godzilla!

No. According to gravity and the "square cube law", Godzilla would crumble under is own weight and die before the signals even reach his brain.

As long as it's a great movie I don't really care but I'm not patient so as long as it's good I'm okay with it.

His character had an overall decent character arc about grief, forgiveness and acceptance. His character served his propose in the story and I didn't get annoyed at him or got bored because of him. Hopefully, we will see him again in GvK.

Definitely a new Titan made from the head of Ghidorah and cells from other titans. They could blast it with radiation reviving it and causing it to mutate into a new monster. It would have the personality of Kevin( the best head) but be more cruel and angry because it remembers how Godzilla killed him. He will have nothing on his mind but to make Godzilla suffer by killing his subjects and destroying the world he wants to protect. 

Have him be erratic and random with his patterns. A being of pure chaos to foil Godzilla ‘s natural order. I can picture him being the best and baddest rival for Godzilla suppressing even King Ghidorah and Destroyah.

 My favorite part of the Godzilla: King of the Monsters was when Godzilla and King Ghidorah was fighting while Mothra fights off Rodan from attacking Godzilla. I was literally at the very edge of my seat at the cinema. I wonder what else they plan on bringing into the monsterverse. As to my favorite kaiju in the monsterverse, it's godzilla like seriously who else but if zilla came then... I would kinda like him more... please don't kill me.
