It looks badass I need to add this to my collection
If memory serves, it was Saturday morning Creature Feature somewhere in the early 1970s and saw Godzilla for the first time. I was way into dinosaurs too, so it fit the bill. Creature Feature was a great show to get exposed to all of that stuff be it Godilla, Kong, Black Lagoon, Frankenstein etc.
UPDATE 7/23/19:
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is now at a slow crawl in Japan. After its 7th weekend in theaters, the film has made $25.8M USD. It's now pretty certain it won't hit $30M USD as early predictions had pinned it.
Currently its attendance is 1.92 million. It will struggle to hit Godzilla 2000 and Godzilla vs. Biollante's attendance numbers from 1999 and 1989 respectively.
Part of the issue is footage. It's easier to use the same video track that syncs up to multiple audio tracks on a disc. In cases like Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster, too much was cut from AIP's version to sync up with the Japanese version. So they would essentially have to put two whole movies on a single disc which could debilitate the quality.
Using the international versions is just an easier way to get the full, uncut movie on disc and use multiple audio tracks that sync with it.
AIP had better dubs, but dubs won't be a priority for a label like Criterion--They're more concerned about the film as originally released.
damn... unfortunate because I always preferred those to the international dubs. They are just the ones I grew up with on tv and vhs and such.
Very unlikely given Toho's strict stance on all dubs not international--But we can dream?
This is very exciting. Since Criterion goes a little above and beyond, As with including the 1956 Raymond Burr version as a supplement to their Gojira release, I wonder if Son of godzilla and Destroy all monsters will at least have the AIP dubs or versions?
Toy actually looks good. Anyone happen to hear the monsterverse podcast that took place?
Well, i'm almost new in kaiju topics.
Guys, Kong needs each One of us.
Let's make Kong King again!

There's One that i never get tired to watch him in action:
Rodan, The Fire Demon.

Not sure. They didn't do individual releases for the Zatochi films when they did something similar with that franchise. Either way, I would bank on Criterion's transfers to be of better quality and include the original Japanese title cards. There's also the possibility of special features, since it's Criterion.
Question though, will they come separately as well? I already have the Kraken versions.
(insert Handel’s Hallelujah chorus here).
This is amazing
I really like these new Neca figs. I passed on V1 Godzilla because I couldn't really justify it already having the 2014 version. Fire G is a must buy!
Am I the only person really irritated that KOTM is not getting a Target exclusive? Both Hellboy and Dark Phoenix are getting Target exclusives. Those movies totally tanked and were panned by critics and audiences alike. I can't help but think KOTM home release will sell much better than both of those titles.
You should its a good Godzilla movie
Intersting question and I think Morphrelink gave a nice break down.
I see Godzilla about keeping balance. Kong does that too except he seems to focus more on humans.
Why would they fight? Maybe Godzilla just sees humans as a threat to balance while Kong sees humans as being worthy of being spared?
My first Godzilla film was probably Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. I watched it when i was 4 and i instantly fell in love with the big G. I watched some more movies like Godzilla 2000, Gojira, GMK, Godzilla vs King Ghidorah, and Godzilla vs Megalon.
I loved those movies too, and i started following Godzilla. Before I knew it, i became the G nerd i am today. GO GO GODZILLA!!
Gigan has always been my favorite because of how awesome he looks (especially in 2004) and how he was the most brutal Godzilla villain.
Really the only thing that needs to happen is to exploit what both Characters are about. Godzilla is an anti-hero who fights to keep nature in balance and will come to blows with anyone threatening that balance. Kong is a sympathetic creature who fights to protect the weak.
We see in Legendary Goji that he's been around for awhile. He's seen the dangers that the world has to offer, This includes the Humans.
Kong, Is still relatively young, his encounter with humans has mostly been a positive one despite a few bad apples, He's capable of figuring out which humans specifically are bad and which ones are harmless and he tends to give them all a chance to show their true colors before acting out at them.
We know Monarch has been on the island working on some new tech. The very threat of a new weapon should be enough to put them on Godzilla's radar. Especially if testing causes restlessness of the creatures on the island.
Kong, Having been around them for awhile now, doesn't see the harm in their presence as they tip toe around him. (Monarch would know better than to openly blast the island by now.) It may even be that a specific human or group of humans has befriended Kong.
This is really the only set up you need.
Godzilla shows up, sees what monarch is doing and begins to take them out. He's destructive and Kong doesn't like it.
Godzilla gets the upper hand with his experience on their first encounter but Kong survives. The Humans then employ their tech to help Kong in his next fight and Kong fairs much better the 2nd time around. Godzilla refuses to give in and pulls out all the stops. In the ensuing chaos The humans unleash their new weapon and it gets a few of Kongs friends "Be it Creature or Human or otherwise." killed and Kong realizes the dangers of the weapons the Humans possess. Just as Godzilla is about to atomic breath the Monarch base, humans and all. Kong steps in and destroys ONLY the tech in front of Godzilla. Leaving the humans alive but defenseless.
Seeing the humans are no longer a threat and with a look in the eyes of Kong saying, "I'll keep the humans in check you don't have to worry about them.", Calms Godzilla's rage and he leaves the island with a new found respect for Kong and a promise to be back should their be any more monkey business.
So you leave with the knowledge that while Godzilla is King of the Monsters, Kong is King of the Humans.
Ps:
Regarding their ancient rivalry, I'd play it out something like this.
Kong and Godzilla species are both Alpha Predators. But they usually take turns between reigns. So it's not often that one of the members species is roaming the surface at the same time as the others. But it has been known to happen in the past that when the two happen to be awake at the same time, they don't always get along. Despite both being protectors of life, They have opposing views what exactly that means.
It is unpopular, but I would pick 1998 since I hadn't seen Zilla for years until this one. I liked how it moved faster and more like the JP Rex which was big back then:

Later on I liked the 2014 which looked more like the original except not like a lumbering guy in a suit:

I haven't seen a newer movie yet.
I personally favor the 2014 Design over the 2019 one
Pretty much all of the Ghidorahs except for Mecha-Ghidorah. Monster X/Kaiser Ghidorah and Monsterverse King Ghidorah are my favorite Godzilla enemy.
The Ghidorahs are like the Joker to Godzilla's Batman, the Lex Luthor to Godzilla's Superman. Also I love dragons
Mine is a chibi xenomorph, it represents my love for the ALIEN series
Originally mine was a dilophosaurus
Mine is without a doubt the KOTM Godzilla
There's also some fun stories regarding him in Ryfle's first book and Kalat's book.
Screw Jonathan Goldsmith, Honda should’ve been the guy to do the Stella Artois Ads.
Mine is Titanosaurus from terror of MechaGodzilla,it represents my love for peaceful creatures!
Right now my favorite is the KOTM Godzilla
Mines Godzilla 2003. KiryuGoji is my favorite design after the 2019 design. Plus, it's the only picture I can find that fits the format of the avatar icon.
Mines GMK Godzilla. I loved GMK Godzillas design. So ghost like, especially considering he was made if the angry spirits of world war 2. It was also the first Godzilla figure my dad got me when I was six.
Yeah, I really need to change mine because I completely forgot about adding an image for my profile while making it. I ended up scrolling through my kaiju folder and quickly stumbled upon a good picture of Gigan. I guess I'll put some time into finding a better image sometime in the future.
Titan of Water,
Ha! Yeah. You could say there's a source:
Ishiro Honda: A Life in Film, from Godzilla to Kurosawa
Wish I could learn more about Ishiro Honda’s personal philosophy and beliefs. He’s a very interesting man. Any sources about that?
We’ll my user name is a title I gave to Godzilla, and I thought it would be an eye-catching username. A friend on Wikizilla gave me the Avatar I have now cause it fit with the name.
My avatar is Kreia from Knights of the Old Republic 2. An extremely interesting character that stuck with me for years after playing the game way back on the original Xbox.
It can be this easy. Send your flag up the pole and see who salutes it!
