If they did the Mechagodzilla City thing and portal thing, but still finished it off like an ACTUAL Godzilla film, or have Mechagodzilla City fight back in some sort of way and regrowing, causing a long, arduous battle between it and Godzilla... I'd be applauding even more than if it was more true to a Godzilla film. It would have been amazing! I mean, the people would have still been weird and annoying to me, but god it would have been so worth it! Instead... we got a ghost city destroyed in two beams and space noodles that couldn't even really fight much... and Mothra was just friggin teased at! They kept teasing us with a Kaiju fight... if you aren't going to have a fight, at least don't tease it!

Something about keeping it grounded and not going all in on fanservice or other similar excuses. Honestly if it weren't Godzilla, I would've said the anime made some cool choices with it's monsters, they are really creative decisions that shake up the formula. But since it was Godzilla, there's a certain level of monster action that's expected, and turning things into cities or space noodles is not conducive to brawls. BUT EVEN THEN, there were still ways to have the cake and eat it too, like have Godzilla actually stomp through the city and have it rebuild and fight back, or yank Ghidorah through the portals and finish him on earth, but I guess we can't always have nice things.
It did have a low budget. I'm not sure why that would be a lame excuse, however.
I like it. It gives Kong a unique look for the movie

I know, I've been sitting here for weeks trying to make sense of the beard, it was thanks to you mentioning it that I finally remembered mountain gorillas. I'm hoping it looks fuller in the movie though, this picture makes it seem a little too thin and spiky, combine that with his cheekbones and I keep getting Abe Lincoln vibes.
But this is the potential it had! Jesus Christ! Why couldn't they have put even a little effort into it? Why?!!

It's like a year old so I assume I'm just late to the party, but this was really good too. They actually utilize all of his special abilities that are talked about but never seen, it's really cool.
Wow, that was a lot more visceral than I expected, the way they squirmed and shook and moved was spot-on, kudos. I was kind of expecting Shin to be a little less mobile, given his movie, but this was really good all the same.
Now THAT'S a fight!
So the rumors were true. It certainly seemed like an odd choice, but then I remembered about Mountain gorillas. If you look them up you'll see they have a good deal more hair around their face and chin than the Lowland gorillas we're used to seeing, so they must be pulling from that for Kong to help differentiate him from the other past versions, which I can appreciate.

You can really feel the weight and power of the blows/punches.
Also, the atomic breaths were really strong and heavy, and showed a sense of POWER!
That was AWESOME!!! Easily the best version of this fight I've ever seen! I can't wait for part 2!

I was going to give leeway and say that this was definitely going to be a fight Legendary King Ghidorah wins because I thought all the other monsters were their Showa incarnations, but after finding out the version of Godzilla used here was Heisei, now I think that it was fair for the other monsters to die to Legendary King Ghidorah, but that it was unfair for Heisei Godzilla, especially considering his durability and feats when compared to Legendary King Ghidorah.
Sorry, but the way I see it is that Ghidorah kills everyone else, but loses to Heisei Godzilla.
Still though, this was a nice fight. Nice job. :)

... A primate having a beard is actually quite realistic and an accurate design choice on their part, so not sure how that makes the Monsterverse dumber, or going to SPECIFICALLY make this movie flop...
