Next random fact:
Baragon wasn't featured prominently in Destroy All Monsters because the suit was modified into four different monsters for Ultra Q & Ultraman. (Pagos, Neronga, Magular & Geronga) By the time it was restored into Baragon for Destroy All Monsters, it was too worn to be used for extensive shooting.

It's your call. As a former critic I think the best thing to do is to read reviews after you see a movie. As I mentioned before, the job of a movie critic is not to tell you whether or not a movie is good. Their job is to get you to think about a movie via their view--No matter how aggressive it may be.

I think movie critics are there to help you organize your own thoughts about a film. As a result I prefer audiences read my reviews only after they had seen said film for themselves.

So I shouldn’t read reviews until after I see the movie

I mean, if we were talking about just straight up "characters" I think it would be fine.

Honestly, I consider kaiju "events" more than characters. They're the main visual everyone comes to the movie for, but it's the characters in the story that make the conflict with the monsters work--Whether they be human or alien.
